Last sunday I played: Human Ms Marvel, Morbius, and Goliath. There were only 3 of us turned up
Round 1 I played against Ms Skrullvel, Arachne and Human Elecktra. Took out Elecktra and arachne but just could not get a hit off on Skrull. She is a little cowbag and if had stayed still for one turn I would have got her. It turned out to be Ms Marvel vs Ms Skrull.
Round 2 I played against Sharon Carter and Doom. I won losing no character. Doom was no where near as scary as he should be!

So a good event as I was playing with mates but no prize for me!
Desperately wanting M&M SR Storm. Anyone got a spare?

3rd week of sealed SI: 300 points for Dissassemble.

Low turnout, 4-players so we were able to round-robin.

I played: Dr. Strange, 2xSpider-Man, Tarantula....and got Sabotaged each round.

Round 1 I faced a Morbius, Gamora, Iron Fist, Elektra Human. Gamora and Iron Fist got tied up in terrain, Spider-Men made short work of Elektra, and Dr. Strange took care of Morbius...and then was able to ranged attack the GROPOS. IIRC I lost Tarantula. I swept.

Round 2: Ms. Skrull, Gamora, Atlantean Warrior. Ms. Skrull crit-missed her first attack and I was able to hit her for another two...what sealed the game was that Ms. Skrull actually pulled Gamora out of B2B combat against Tarantula (on poison) which allowed me to set up lots of ranged attacks. I swept, losing a spider-man and Tarantula.

Round 3: I faced Namor, Human Torch and Tarantula. Namor punked Dr. Strange early (at least I forced him to try a breakaway roll) and it was all downhill for me. Human Torched rolled 3 crit misses (one on a push), but I couldn't KO more than Tarantula.

Final result: 2-1, and lost the event on points.

Good-bye sealed events: 7 sealed events, 2 SRs I'm still missing 1 BFC too! Luckily the balance of rares has been pretty good for me. I feel like I've played with/against almost all the figures from the set already...so I'm not really looking forward to the FLOOR events. I'll probably play an "all Gravity" team.

DATE PLAYED: 300
POINT TOTAL: 14-Aug-2008
SCENARIO: Secret Invasion sealed

TEAM:
Namor = 150
Human Torch = 85
Tarantula = 51
Total: 286

I wanted to play Namor with Kristoff, but that would have left Mass Master as my only possible third figure. My other option with Namor was possibly 2 Gravity for dual TK, but that would have left me without any range other than their incap/TK/super strength.

BATTLEFIELD CONDITIONS: Sabotage, Disruption (unused)
SPECIAL OBJECTS PLAYED: None
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
WIN/LOSS: 1-2

First round was against:

Ms. Marvel (Skrull) = 168
Gamora = 73
Atlantean Warrior = 35
Total: 276

We had a double Sabotage in this game, with me incapping Ms. Marvel and my opponent choosing Namor. Namor, however, started the game by being carried forward by Human Torch. I had a couple chances to get in a hit on Ms. Marvel, the first with Human Torch trying to running shot pulse wave him, but missing the 9 he needed, then later Namor pushing to try to flurry her when she was pushed, but Ms. Marvel making her Skrull roll. After that it was pretty much downhill, and my early KO of Atlantean Warrior was the only KO I got in the game.

Next round I was up against:

Elektra (non-Skrull) = 80
Gamora + Vendetta = 79
Iron Fist = 70
Morbius = 67
Total: 296

Again we had a double Sabotage game here, and we both made the roll, so Gamora and Morbius started with tokens on his side, with Human Torch and Namor starting tokened on my side. Namor was able to take out Morbius in a pair of flurry attacks, but that was the only successful KO for me in this game. The close combat monsters on the other side beat up my team pretty quickly, with my team unable to do enough damage for another KO before they all fell.

Last round was against tidge with:

Dr. Strange = 149
2x Spider-Man = 100
Tarantula = 51
Total: 300

I incapped Strange with Sabotage. I was able to get Namor hiding behind blocking terrain, and the next turn he pushed (breaking away from a Spider-Man) to charge in for a KO on Dr. Strange with flurry. After that, Namor did most of the work taking out the remaining three opponents, while Human Torch rolled three critical misses and my Tarantula got KOed in a Spider-Man flurry. Despite Human Torch's 4 self-inflicted damage, he survived the game along with Namor.

Talking clix this week
This is 3 match results

On this past Tuesday I played sealed with my SI brick against my friend...

He pulled Magus SR, Arachne and Clea, he also put Alias on Magus.

My team was Annihilus, Yellowjack (Human - he's like one of my favourite pieces from this set) and Morbius with Vendetta for a perfect 300 points..it was on Annihilus because my friend (dariusq) insisted.

We played on the Bank Map, I don't know if I won the roll but he was too lazy to get up and get the map...

So we faced off and Annihilus pushed for a huge first hit. Morbius pushed for a fail. Yellowjacket pushed to become good, he missed Arachne too I think.
Clea's Outwit was really deadly in this match, it always made a giant difference. Arachne's starting click was hard to get around. Magus was just a powerhouse, even after a smack because of that Indomitable.
Annihilus was a huge target, but was under half my build, so the rest of the team was great underestimated. He fell first but Yellowjacket and Morbius came in and just couldn't be hit. Even when on their last clicks, Magus had already fallen, Clea was too weakened and based so she couldn't use RCE...as well as Arachne being useful but short dial made for a quick death.
The 2 fell shortly after to just Morbius and Yellowjacket...Yellowjacket has Outwith which is just so handy, Morbius kept rolling 6's with that White Power and has the very effective Super Steal Energy to like never die near the end of a match and I got some decent rolls (finally, I was missing with greats stats at the beginning of the match not including the opening shot).

I won only losing Annihilus and killed the whole opposing team.

The next match I played was tonight (Saturday night)

It was 300 points, my opponent played Mephisto and PowerMan&IronFist with feats.
I played Annihilus, Gamora and Impossible Man feated to 100 points (because it's funny).

Both teams were just playing around with the new SRs.

My team did really well actually, Power Man and Iron Fist came in very strong and rocked my Annihilus, but he has lots of Regen and stays good. Mephisto stayed in the back and was annoying...that's all he does, but he does it well.
I killed Power Man & Iron Fist in 1 turn with a 6 on B/C/F from Gamora followed by the final blow from Annihilus (even though weakned) and then Impossible Man did a little annoying hit on Mephisto.

Mephisto then got hit again with Gamora's Willpower (assisted by Impossible Man in the back) while Annihilus Regen'd.
After Power Man & Iron Fist died my friend wanted to call it but I continued based on the fact that Mephisto can single handedly win any match ever in time....but he didn't

So then the next match was also with my friend (this is KO Bossy by the way incase you want to go rep him for making such awesome combos)

I wanted to try Power Man and Iron Fist...and it was 200 points so I added Sandman and Unstoppable.

My friend used the awesome cool combo of 3 Spider-Slayers, Doc Ock, Protected, Alias and Vault (all cards on Ock).

I had a huge advantage of double Willpower, but he had two times as many characters, plus the main one had Willpower also.

So we moved up slowly, I hid PM&IF (starting to get tired of typing their full name) behind Stealth Sandman and they moved around getting into position, protecting Ock and making the best of their TA.

We finally started fighting after a Spider-Slayer had fallen and my Sandman was crippled, just taking out the little guys...Power Man & Iron Fist were really strong and just kept hitting Ock...one of the times with a Crit Hit.
After that it was over, he couldn't damage them and the Spider-Slayers had mostly bit the dust...so I just tracked him down and killed him while he hoped for crits.

I won all my games this week, but the part I really enjoyed was all the interesting teams built with the new stuff.....

Game: 300pts. 50% floor
Team: SS:Illuminati
+Fortitude (A MUST)
Skrull Infiltrator R
BFC: Mistrust
Wins: 1-0

Vs.

Dr. Strange R
Spider-Man C
Mr. Fantastic C?

His strategy was to keep Strange out behind Mr. Fantastic and let Spider-Man tie me up while Strange and Fantastic took shots at me. I did some RS out from behind Infiltrator (which was originally the plan and didn't help against strange much), and I pushed Infiltrator onto his BCF click. I don't know why but after I hit strange for 4 he based Infiltrator who then BCEffed him up for 6 to the face. Illuminati (now on his outwit clix) made short work of Spider-Man then aimed for Fantastic. Infiltrator BCFd him for 1 then Illuminati blew him away no problem.

I'd say Mistrust worked to my favor and I will definately use it in the upcoming events!

we played a 600 point team afterwards with the Judge it was

Me: tons of skrulls
P2: weird team w/ punisher & Nick Fury SR
P3: DOOM, Doombots, Annihilus SR, Kristoff

We went back and forth for a long while until finally it was Illuminati vs. DOOM who eventually won out due to indomitable.

DATE PLAYED: 8/15/08
POINT TOTAL: 300
SCENARIO: SI: Floor
TEAM:

Super Skrull: Illuminati
-Fortitude
R Skrull Infiltrator

BATTLEFIELD CONDITIONS: I didn't play any
SPECIAL OBJECTS PLAYED: Nope
WIN/LOSS: 3-0

My Sentry didn't come in the mail so I ran with the SS:Illuminati. Fortitude is a must of course, and the Infiltrator makes it a theme and gives a nice stealth shield.

Round 1

Sentinel of the Skyways
Namor
Matter Eater Lad
Space Phantom
Professor Buttenholm

Defenders and 3 pogs. I didn't like my chances on an open map, as I'd never ever catch Surfer. Thankfully I won map roll and chose the New FF Starter map with the force fields, limiting Surfers mobility.

I ran for the first half of this match, making him come to me. I eventually got onto the roof of the building and my opponent decided to bait me with surfer. I bit and rolled the 8 I needed he burned his one PC and killed matter eater lad to do it. I had to burn my PC, but I rolled another 8 and then rolled a 6 to make it all penetrating. Namor tried to run up before I could finish off surfer but was unsucessful. Namor did actually manage to kill my infiltrator and slightly damage my SS:I, but I started upping my attacks with Strange Magic and rolled another 6, so he fell quickly.

Round 2

Captain America (SI)
Patriot
Hawkeye (SI)
Hawkeye (Avengers SR)
Human Torch (FF Starter)

This team never managed to Hit my 21 in hindering. Patriot and Captain America were quaked to death when they tried to swarm. Johnny never got a successful attack off, and Hawkeyes both fell at the end, one to the infiltrator, one to SS:I

Round 3

Mrs. Marvel (Human)
Sharon Carter
Thor Gir

Crit hit on Mrs. Marvel, roll 6. Game and match. Went very quickly.

Final 3-0

This Skrull is GOOD. I always gave him a defensive boost and never perplexed other stats until I had hurt my opponents to 1 or 2 damage, then I'd do attack or range or whichever, since I'd end up on invuln they wouldn't be able to crack.

Format: Sealed 300pts. Farewell to our gaming site due land lord's high raise on rent.

Most of my pulls we're kinda average. 1 SR that was Ringmaster (seesh )
Gee, Adam Warlock, Captain America, The Punisher, Mole Man, Iron Man, Energizer and something else...

I wanted to try out Ringmaster, but thanks to him being too pricey I had to go with:

Moleman 50
Iron Man 188 + Vendetta 6
Captain America 49 + Loner 5

I thought this team would get butt busting of a lifetime, since I "thought" Mole Man would suck. I couldn't find he's card at first

1ST Match

I went against our judge, who wanted to go out with a bang. He had picked he's team randomly without looking at their cards nor dials. He had:

Ms. Marvel Human 168
Moloid 15
Gee 40
Energizer 35
Howard The Duck 35
BFC Skrull Kill Krew

He then picked he's teams' cards and realized that Moloid couldn't do anything nor Energizer. Atleast the rest of them didn't suck

I went first and carried Capt. with Mole to hindering. Iron Man flew to hindering and Perplexed he's Defence to 19. He then ran with Moloid, Howard The Duck. Gee threw Ms. Marvel to the field. Marvel took a heavy object and raged against Iron. Marvel threw Criticals and I thought I was finished. I threw Iron's Super Senses (Extremist) and a SIX[ came.. We were both stunned! The only thing that could've saved me, did.. Marvel took steps back.. Energizer stood still with his mouth open..

I ran with Capt. 4 squares towards Marvel (hindering). Perplexed Iron's Defence again to 19 and cleared. Hoped my luck would hold. Marvel shot Iron again (Indomitable), and missed. He cleared. Iron Perplexed his Defence, and shot Marvel. Marvel took 2 Damage, and got Charge. Howard The Duck was on Mole Man's LoF and shot him. Rolled Criticals, Howard took 3.

He Perplexed Marvel's Attack with Duck and threw Snake eyes Energizer and Gee ran to stop Captain on it's way. Iron Perplexed his Damage and shot Marvel (push)... Critical! Marvel's shields dropped. I cleared.

He Charged against Capt. and missed him. Gee, Energizer smacked Capt. and missed also. He cleared. Iron Perplexed his Damage again and rolled Marvel to kingdom come. Mole Man then shot Howard to kingdom come. Capt. hitted Gee for 3. He pushed both Gee and Energizer and missed on both. Iron pushed and Perplexed his Attack to snipe both Gee and Energizer to heavens' gates. Mole Man shot Moloid with Critical. I went untouched.. He did no damage on me.. I was shocked that the team actually worked. Mole Man is an amazing Carrier

2ND Match

Against Mikko, who is quite new to the game (started playing at CoG by accident). He went with:

Kristoff 100
Human Torch 85
Gamora 73
Atlantean Warrior 35

This was pretty much close to the previous game. Human Torch got some good hits on Iron but then all of them fell quite quickly. Mole Man got owned by Gamora, but that's the only one he got.

3RD Match

Me and Julius went against each other. The only who had got 2 wins out of 2. He went with:

Captain America 49 + Loner 5
Doctor Octopus 69
Ms. Marvel Skrull 168

He would be going first and I was little nervous, since none of he's figures had fallen during the last two games. I went first and ran Iron to hindering Perplexing his Defence up. Mole Man carried Capt. to hindering. Simple and clean for me. He carried Octopus to hindering with Marvel and Capt. ran behind a wall.

My Capt. ran to be Iron's meatshield and I cleared. He picked up a heavy ob. with Marvel and ran to smash Mole. Luckily my Mole's luck held and rolled 6 with SS. He Outwitted my Capt.'s Charge to prevent him from attacking Marvel (She was 3 squares away from Capt.). Mole Man carried Capt. in combat with he's Capt. Iron shot Octo for 4.

He's Capt. attacked mine and missed. He outwitted my Extremist and cleared. My Capt. hitted he's for 2. Iron pushed to kill Octo. I cleared.

Marvel picked up another heavy and killed Mole. He's Capt. missed mine again.
My Capt. pushed to hit he's for 3. Iron ran in combat with Marvel. Marvel killed Capt.
Iron shot he's Capt. to death and was then killed later on by Marvel. Ms. Marvel Skrull is just insane!

Final 2-1

300 point Secret Invasion 50% Floor.

I went with 'Heroes for Hire', and used Power Man & Iron Fist 136 + 4 Inside Information, Human Torch 85, Shang-Chi 58 + 15 Pounce. 298 total.

I had the bye the first round. The second round I was up against a 'scientist' team, with Mr. Fantastic 100 + 20 Brilliant Tactician, FCBD Iron Man 100 + 6 Vendetta, SI Spider-Man 50, The All-New Atom 24. 300 total. He cancelled my Resistance BFC, and I cancelled his Exhaustion.

I kind of figured the super-perplexed scientists were going to own me, but this game went down even faster than I anticipated. I was beat silly by Iron Man and Spider-Man. Mr. Fantastic Perplexing up everyone's Defense by 2 meant I never even hit anyone. Power Man & Iron Fist needed a 7 to hit Spider-Man's 19 D, thanks to Inside Information. I missed, pushed Human Torch to give them a reroll, hit, and then his All-New Atom took a token to have me reroll and miss. Shang-Chi also needed a 7 with his Pounce, missed. It was all over the next round, when Fantastic switches to Perplex everybody's damage, and they waste me. 1-1.

Next I was up against an Avengers team of Namor 150, Hercules 142 + 8 Protected. 300 total. He played Atlantis Rising, and he cancelled my Ground Zero.

This wasn't that bad. The player had thought that Namor could carry, since he could fly, but then found out it wasn't so. So this meant that Herc was way slowed by the Atlantis Rising. Power Man & Iron Fist also had a +2 to hit both of them, thanks to Inside Information. Human Torch started shooting at Namor while he was incoming, and I otherwise waited for him to come to me. He did, and I wasted him. Power Man and Iron Fist hit him with a heavy object for 5, straight through with Exploit Weakness. Shang-Chi and Human Torch took out the remains. Hercules caught up with us by this time, but he couldn't quite hit the 18 D, and once I had Protected out of the way, he went down pretty quick. 2-1.

The scientist team won the tournament, and I was awarded fellowship.

Secret Invasion Week 3, 50% Floor.

Sooo...I decided to get a little risky and play Dr. Strange and Namor. Both are strong pieces, but with only two figures and no cardboard, I was worried about getting out-actioned or simply out-supported.

While this was somewhat true, both pieces still rocked. I went 2-1, though the opposition wasn't too strong.

My first match was against Power Man and Iron Fist, the Punisher, Arachne, and I believe a little bit of cardboard and a pog. This wasn't a particularly hard match - the duo moved into Namor's Charge range and he hit them for 7 (wielding the Satellite Dish) clear through while they were on Defend. Fortunately for the duo, his second attack missed. Still, they were more or less done with after that and the rest of the team crumpled beneath Namor and Strange.

The second match was against R Shazam! and Skrull Miss Marvel. He was also playing a SHIELD Sniper from Sinister, which I pointed out was retired. If it were just about anyone else at the venue, I probably would have been fine with him playing it - but he always plays complete mish-mashes of power pieces that make about zero sense thematically and he is generally an annoying little snot all around. So if he was going to win against me, I was going to make him do it legit.

And...repeat of the last round. While he was smart enough to keep Miss Marvel out of Namor's regular Charge range, he didn't account for Dr. Strange's Perplex. I increased Namor's movement by one, Charged, and hit Marvel for seven (and again missed with the Flurry attack). It was pretty much mop up time after that. The match was finished pretty quick and I offered to play a second match with the Sniper included on his force, but he declined.

The last round actually required some thinking on my part. I faced off against Dr. Strange, Out of the Shadows Batman, and Iron Fist. My main worry in this was the dual Outwit. I moved up behind some blocking terrain and my opponent moved his force in range, but hidden behind said blocking terrain.

So Namor blew up the terrain, then Strange Perplex'ed up his damage and attack Strange and Batman. I knew I had to do three to Batman to get him off Outwit and then do at least one to Strange so I could put him on his Outwit and use my Strange to Outwit it.

Both attacks hit. My opponent opts to clear rather than push.

So I...push Namor, who by this point was still without an object (Strange carried him, then he attacked a wall - no move action yet). My opponent played an Ela'hal vine and I knew that once Batman went again, he was going for it. So Namor ran up and picked it up, ensuring that no one on his team was healing up.

The next few rounds wind up in a beat down between our characters, with his extra character allowing him to make up for some of the early advantage I gained. I think I could have won this, but I sadly didn't know the tail end of Strange's dial - I pushed my Strange to get Namor next to my opponent's Strange, only to push my own Strange to death in doing so.

Ultimately, I lost - but I got his Strange onto his last two clicks and took out both Batman and Iron Fist. The Inside Information on his Strange is really what let him take the advantage - +2 effective attack against both my characters. And I didn't make a single Super-Sense roll throughout the game, which would have made all the difference.

Ahh well. I'm tempted to try the team again - or Strange, at least. I figured the team would do decently against Miss Marvel - Strange doesn't care about Stealth, Namor doesn't either, and the 18 Defense means Marvel would have a hell of a time hitting either of them. However, I only faced one Marvel and that was the only team with her on it at the venue - everyone else either played something different, or an anti-Miss Marvel team. I get the feeling next week people will whip her out, after the anti-Marvel teams have had their go this week. Or...not. I'll have to see.

I probably should have stucked with my original plan of Secret Invasion Iron Man, Iron Fist, and Jarvis. At the very least I think it would have won me my third match and only would have run into a slight problem during my second game.
I'm in Boston! I know there are a few places to play Heroclix, but I'm always curious to know about more.

I played a couple of "for fun" games under the FLOOR format.

Here are the teams I experimented with:

Dr. Strange + Streak of Luck
Mr. Mind + (SI) Vendetta
Ultimate Scarlet Witch

Obviously, this was an attempt to maximize Dr. Strange's trait, with Mr. Mind to add a boost to range/Superman Enemy Outwit. I am reluctant to play without a prob controller in the new era of routine 18+ defense values, I probably would have been better served by the SR Scarlet Witch but the team started as Dr. Strange + Clea...

This team may do well against tentpoles, or figures that try to keep LoF but hide in stealth/behind others...but it didn't have enough OOMPH to deal with a well-balanced 300-point team. The team I faced ended up with a pair of Outwits, and then it was all over.

I then played with a Ms. Skrullvel and Warskrull. I purposely didn't choose Warbound (which will be the feat to beat in these FLOOR events) instead opting for

Ms. Skrull + Camoflage
Warskrull + Camoflage + Unstoppable

(Unstoppable was a huge waste of points, but I thought I would forget "Alias" points)

This team had no problem with multi-outwit, and it was trivial to slowly but surely knock down the well-balanced team. I forgot at least one shape change roll too. Ms. Marvel never got ATTACKED.

DATE PLAYED: 17/08/08
POINT TOTAL: 300
SCENARIO: Floor (50% Secret Invasion), Week 3.
TEAM:

Ms. Marvel (Skrull) - 168
Winter Soldier - 70
+Vendetta - 6
Agent Brand - 44
+Contingency Plan - 12

Spy Theme, +3 map roll, 1 PC.

Well I went back to my routes with the Spy Team. Having run a previous incarnation with Nick Fury (SIN), Bronze Tiger and Soldier accompanied by Green Flames, I figured I'd see how the beefiest Spy to hit the block fared.

BATTLEFIELD CONDITIONS: Exhaustion (1); Ordinary Day (2); Mistrust (3)
SPECIAL OBJECTS PLAYED: Eleha'al Vine; Kinetic Accelerator; Tombstone
WIN/LOSS: 3-0

Round 1:

I faced off against my good buddy Jordan, and his Atlantis theme. Yep,. you guessed it folks, Namor with his squad of 4 Atlantean Warriors backing him up. I unfortuately forgot to note any feats, so sorry for that. He played Shrunk, which I quickly used my Theme rejection on, and we played on the new SI map.

We began slowly enough - I moved into hindering upon my Accelerator while he moved up in unison. I quickly took a shot with the Soldier on a Warrior, taking it out before using Ms. marvel to skeedaddle. He moved up in a position to charge, while I cleared, thinking he wouldn't push to charge within range of Ms. Marvel with 2 Pushing Damage. Turns out, I was wrong! Namor hits twice, taking Soldier out with Vendetta points. Ms Marvel got a free shot, putting 4 through Namor's defenses before running. Another shot a turn later took him out, leaving me but a sweep-up job to take out the 3 remaining Warriors.

Result: Win, lost Vendetta points.

Round 2:

I next faced off against Tony, who played a team of Sentry and Young Superman, the latter carrying Alias. I played Ordinary Day, to his nothing ><. We played on the old... I don't even know the name of it . The map with a central corridor, and two entrances at either side with assorted rooms in each side.

He began, bringing Sentry and Supes forward. I went against taking a shot, opting to bring Soldier and Marvel back onto the bottom bush. He cleared, and Soldier took a shot. He'd be safe if Sentry didn't roll a 6... and wouldn't you know it, he did. He promptly HSS'ed straight into the Soldier, taking him out of the fight. He also failed to break away, leaving him to roll Impervious against Ms. Marvel's attempt. I moved them both away, using Soldier as a meat shield against Supes. I moved a little more away, only for his figures to go again and push, luckily both missing (Supes Vs. marvel w/ Tombstone and Sentry Vs. Brand) and taking pushing damage. Marvel neutered Supes, then went to aid in Brand's effort as she hit a vigilant 1 damage through Sentry's Toughness. Sentry imploded to Marvel, then it was just a matter of chasing the wounded Supes down.

Result: Win, no Vendetta points.

Round 3:

This was the final, pitting me against my good buddy Craig and... I can't even remember it was that horrible . He played Mole Man w/ Contingency Plan, a fair few Moloids, and... a Rampaging Hulk . We played on another old map - a house with a pool and garage. I played Mistrust which was quickly Ordinary Day'ed (and Theme cancelled as well since he didn't use it).

I moved up cautiously, not wanting to get in the middle of a mess of Moloids as he steadily took control of the house. A few moloids strayed in range of Marvel, as I used her to take one to its grave. Unfortunately, that put me in range of Hulkie +3 CP tokens. He promptly went in to base Marvel and Brand, forcing a Critical Hit. I used my one, SINGLE re-roll available, and he rolled... a critical miss. I was so relieved. I then used my two contingencies and walopped Hulk for six after outwit + object, and Winter Soldier finished him off for Vendetta points. It was then a case of finishing off the Moloids. Unfotunately, Super Senses made me miss two killing blows on Mole Man, but Soldier and Agent Brand took out many of them. I finished with everything intact, and Vendetta points as well, despite it being a mainly one-hit game (as I'm sure he'll agree).

Result: Win, attained Vendetta points.

So I won my first event for a little while, and I'm eagerly awaiting the chance to play Mrs. Skrullvel again in the future... perhaps next week ^^

Props:
-A well-earned victory to boost my venue ranking a little.
-A new prize card which I may or may not use.
-Bought my F4 starter, so there's a chance of a theme next week involving them... or a Soldier one with just the Thing.
-Critical Hit into Critical Miss!
-The use of armies with generics - Namor and Atlanteans, Mole Man and Moloids...

Slops:
-No SR Jarvis spoiled my first Theme Team, as it hasn't arrived - perhaps next week.
-My friend not having enough money to make the journey. Poor soul.
-No maps! Luckily we had some on the boards we get out to play on.

A Pojo Production.

Rampaging Hulk + Streak Of Luck

I didn't really expect to do too well, but I'm up to 16 Moloids so I thought I'd best use some of them, and still hadn't used Rampaging Hulk up till now.

BATTLEFIELD CONDITIONS: Deep Shadows, Shrunk & Ordinary Day
SPECIAL OBJECTS PLAYED: Nope
WIN/LOSS:
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Amazingly - 2/1

ROUND 1:
First to face the Moloid masses was - Thing, Green Arrow (Connor), Gee, Lightspeed, Talia (BM: Alpha) and (as the guy never plays without PC if he can help it...) Scarlet Witch. I played my Deep Shadows, he either played nothing or it had no lasting consequence that I can recall. Unsurprisingly (with a +9 theme bonus) I went first, so the the Moloids advanced, and Moleman dragged the Hulk down a tunnel that came out just infront of the line of Moloids. He advanced forwards too, so I maneuvered the Moloids to shield my main two guys. Thing took this oportunity to run into my Moloids hoards and quake them, hitting three of them, Hulk then passed him going the other way as he retaliated by Quaking Green Arrow and Scarlet Witch. After the Thing, dispenced of a few Moloids he took chase after the Mole Man & a Moloid who had snuck off to offer the Hulk a hand, but the Quake failed to hit even the Moloid. The Hulk (who had taken care of Scarlet Witch & Talia and sent Green Arrow running then retaliated by charging the Thing, smacking him with a heavy object, an attack that Thing failed to emulate. after a few rounds of those two slugging it out, it was Hulk who remained standing. With the help of some Moloids tying up the injured Green Arrow, Hulk managed to clean up the rest of the team, to win the game having only lost 4 of the Moloids during the Things game of Whack-A-Moloid.

1/0

ROUND 2:
This time round it was a much smaller team, consisting of Iron Man and the X-Men Super Skrull. Unfortunately that meant two figures that were (short of a double 6) impervious to my move-and-attack abilities, and indeed resistant to damage from most of the team. They both had decent range too, but that I could deal with by using Shrunk. I went first again, moving up using the wall-of-Moloids tactic, and when I was within range I sent in the Hulk. Unfortunatly he failed to get the critical hit, but I positioned two Moloids to prevent the diagonal line of fire for Iron Man's Outwit. With a little help from the theme re-rolls Iron Man failed to connect with Hulk, though a Moloid did fall to a crit from the Super Skrull. After a few rounds of pounding it out another Moloid had fallen, but Hulk smacked Iron Man onto what I recognised as his final click, so I pushed a Moloid to finish the job. The Super Skrull killed off another Moloid, but then Hulk charged in, and within a few rounds the Skrull was also down for the count.

2/0

ROUND 3:
Somehow I'd made it to the final with a team that I thought would be lucky if it managed to win a round. The oposition looked like a far more likely final round team, consisting of the spys - Ms. Marvel (Skrull), Agent Brand and Winter Soldier (plus some feats, contingency plan was one, I can't remember the rest [edit: from the above post - Vendetta on WS] ). I resorted to the same tactic, which imediatley highlighted a problem - two out of three turns Ms. Marvel was able to fly in, shoot a Moloid, then retreat to safety. Thankfully though, he'd only counted on Hulk's printed movement, with all three of my Contingency Plan tokens I was able to reach Agent Brand, and leave himself next to the pushed Ms. Marvel too. I rolled my attack - Double 6. The Quake was going to hurt even Ms Marvel. Or it would have if he hadn't used his theme re-roll. I rolled again - Double 1. Gah. This pretty much set the tone for Hulk's luck from here on, he failed to do anything against them except die [edit: to the Winter Soldier, for a Vendetta kill]. I resigned myself to the inevitable loss but continued the advance anyway. The Mole Man and his Moloid masses tried their best, and had a little more luck then Hulk did when they reached Winter Soldier and Agent Brand, hurting both a little bit, but they didn't do enough to take either down.

2/1

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Its a shame they didn't go all the way, but the team had already exceeded my expectations during the first two games. The Moloids may not do too much other then tie-up, but they are damn good at that, especially as they can take two shots from most figures. And if someone is to busy hitting a 15 point figure that they aren't shooting the big threat then its all good. And Mole Man with Contingency Plan just makes Ramapaging Hulk fantastic, as it either picks up his low-ish starting attack, or lets him reach opponents who thought they were safe.

Date: 8/17/07
Point total: 300
Scenario: SI - Floor
Team:
- Gamora + Alias = 76
- Robin (Crisis Vet) = 79
- Elektra (human) + Infiltrate = 82
- Karate Kid = 63

One of several martial artist teams I tested out.

BFC's: none used, but had Ordinary Day, High Gravity, Deep Shadows
Special Objects played: not a one
Record: 3-0

Round 1: An unexpected bye round, since someone came in at the last minute and I got unlucky. Still, wasn't a big deal, since a friend I introduced to the game was playing, so I watched his match and talked to him afterwards about some tactical stuff.

Round 2: vs. the Skrulls!
- Skrull Emperor
- Super Skrull: X -Men
- Skrull Jarvis

Map: Prison

This round wasn't too hard, though I positioned my object tokens poorly, causing Gamora to spend a lot of time just getting into position. Took very little damage, since I managed to nail the Super Skrull early and the Skrull Emperor didn't have a great deal of damage potential (less after Elektra stabbed him a couple of times), and Gamora finished him off. Jarvis was taken out by Karate Kid in one hit (pushed to use CCE after Jarvis had pushed in an earlier turn). Got into a position where my entire team was able to attack Super Skrull on alternating turns. He managed to last three turns with a flurry of Shape Change and Skrull team rolls (which were actually made by another player's girlfriend, who could break Vegas with her dice luck), but in the end he went down too.

Round 3: vs. Scientists (all from SI)!
- Iron Man
- Tarantula
- Spider Man
(I think there was a feat in there somewhere, but it never got used)

Map: Crashed Spaceship

This match had some wild swings of luck. He got the first turn, and went pretty much straight out from his deployment zone. I got my team into stealth, with Elektra not sitting in hindering, just sitting behind hindering to try and bait Iron Man. It worked better than i could have hoped, with Iron Man missing his running shot and being in a spot where Elektra, Karate Kid, and Gamora could charge him. Robin outwitted IM's defense, and the charges commenced, with IM nearly being taken out in one turn, and getting finished off soon after. Apparently, at this point, my dice decided they didn't want me to have an easy match, so they went horrible on me, culminating in Elektra using flurry and rolling two critical misses. After a series of terrible rolls for me, and great rolls for my opponent, It came down to Robin (sitting in hindering terrain and on his first click) vs. Spider Man (who was minimally damaged, having taken maybe 2 or 3 clicks). He had to base me with Spider-Man and hope for the best, and it just didn't happen. Three rounds later, and Robin was the only survivor.

This was only my second tournament win, so I was very pleased, especially because my last round opponent is generally very good (this is the first time I beat him). The team performed very well aside from when the dice went horrible, and all around it went well.
Penance of the Thunderbolts Clan: Don't make me hit myself. You wouldn't like me when I hit myself

The Team

Spider-Man
Spider-Girl + Alias
Spiderwoman
Arachne
Spider-Man (Mutations and Monsters)

Battlefield Conditions: Krakoa the Living Island, Disruption, No Place to Hide and Skrull Kill Krew (each chosen with Miss Marvel in mind)

300 points on the nose.

I'd built three teams. One was a Kid team with the Power Pack, one was a Martial Artist team with Gamora and Iron Fist and this one. I was sure Gamora would be popular and another player had mentioned wanting to play the Power Pack (though he wasn't there this week) so I went with my Spider-Folk team.

Game 1 vs. Cloak and Dagger, Punisher, Morbius...and I'm spacing out on the rest.

I won the map roll and chose the Justice League bank map.

Early game positioning and my opponent forgot that Cloak and Dagger didn't have Running Shot in their special power and neither of us bothered to check the card so wham! Lamppost McToy Spidey got pounded. I then used him to tie up the Punisher for a bit. In equally non-brilliant play, I placed Spiderwoman on an object so she would be in Stealth only for Morbius to run by and snatch the object out from under her leaving her open. I failed the Skrull roll, but fortunately the Super Senses held. She went to the counter for some unremovable Stealth. His other piece and Cloak and Dagger tried to beat up on her but there was no going. In the end, I ended up losing the Spider-Men but I was able to wipe his team out. 1-0

Round 2 vs. Iron Fist, Batgirl, Karate Kid, Elektra and some featage.

He won the map roll and decided to stick with the Bank map that was already on the table. I played Disruption and he played Ordinary Day. He had the advantage of Stealth so I had to move up close. Arachne got hurt by Elektra before McToy Spidey came in to help her. Spidey then proceeded to take out both Elektra AND Karate Kid who was carting her around and finishing off Iron Fist before finally going down to Batgirl. Spiderwoman did some pulse-waving on Batgirl but Cain wouldn't go down without a fight. She managed to take out everybody else before Spiderwoman finally KO'd her. 2-0

Round 3 vs. Lightspeed X 2, Iron Fist with Protected, Gamora with Protected, McToy Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch

I won the map roll and chose the Bank map again (hey it'd worked for me the first two times). I then made mistake number one by playing Krakoa the Living Island...which only works outdoors and therefore was useless in the bank. He played Exhaustion. The Lightspeeds came in carrying Gamorra and Iron Fist to Spiderwoman. In critical mistake number two, I pushed to move away from them...forgetting about Exhaustion. They moved in again and I couldn't get away. Spiderwoman went down. McToy Spidey took out Arachne without any difficulty and I couldn't hit anybody. In the whole game I managed one hit on one of the Lightspeeds (which didn't even knock her out) and missed every other attack by one. My team got mopped up in one of the quickest games of the whole tournament. Lightspeed has the potential to be the new Lockjaw. She can't take as much abuse, but she'll take enough to keep her passenger safe for a turn or two. 2-1

Round 4 vs. Skrull Ms. Marvel, Kid Flash and Gamorra.

Well here it was...the match I knew was coming against Ms. Marvel. I won the map roll and chose the Bank again (hey why not go for all four on the same map) I played Skrull Kill Krew which did little to hurt her but hurt me a whole lot. I was able to take out Gamorra with little difficulty and weakened both Kid Flash and Ms. Marvel but I couldn't put the finishing moves on either. Ms. Marvel proceeded to pick my team apart while I labored to get rid of Kid Flash. It boiled down to Spiderwoman vs. Ms. Marvel in a battle of whoever hit first would win. I had combat reflexes so he needed a 10 to hit me, while I needed a seven (I was outwitting the shape change). Eventually I started outwitting the combat reflexes so I'd only need a five, but still it took me three turns before I finally managed to land the finishing blow on Marvel. 3-1

I ended up second (first went to the Lightspeed team I faced in Round 3). It was our judge's birthday on Friday and he was feeling generous. Everybody walked away with something. I got to choose from a whole mess of prizes I already had so I went with the Emerald Eye of Ekron which I traded with the winner for the Fantastic Forces Doom I thought I was missing (but which it turns out, I'm not). I opened three SI boosters for fun (Hey I COULD have pulled the Sue RichardsI was missing) and got Sentry and Gamorra. I traded a Sinestro for Gene-Crafted Brain so our judge could trade Sinestro for the Mephisto he was missing. Sinestro was then traded to the tournament winner for the Sentry that he wanted (but which I was unwilling to trade for GCB). My second-round opponent was interested in Gamorra but he was unsure if he had the Crisis Donna Troy LE I wanted or not. He's going to get back to me on that. I gave away some SI stuff to some other players who had nothing I wanted. After that I bought and read the 4E D&D Player's Handbook as our DM has decided that he will be converting to fourth edition after not initially being interested. A good enough day.
Mal: Seems we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us?
Zoe: Big darn heroes, sir!
Mal: Ain't we just?

Az-Bats
Shatterstar
Atlantean Warrior x2

300 points

Win/Loss =
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
2-1

I wanted to play Punisher and after looking at his keywords I saw that I was able to put in Az-Bats and Shatterstar... two other figs I've been wanting to try out for awhile! And giving Punisher the Batman TA to use wasn't all bad either. The Atlantean Warriors just filled the floor for me and kept the keyword going.

Battlefield Conditions used... I forgot my Battlefield Conditions at home but pulled the Skrull Kill Crew out of a booster I bought so I used that one only.

Special objects used... I used the Open Hydrant to provide water for the Atlantean Warriors to hang around in.

Round 1 I played against (no battlefield conditions used)...

SI Hawkeye x2 (one with Vendetta, Punisher as the target)
SI Spidey
Gamora
Thunderer of Qward (Enhancement for the Hawkeyes)

This game went a lot easier for me than I thought. I based the Hawkeyes' with Shatterstar, laid waste to the Thunderer with Punisher and rocked Gamora with a Perplexed up Az-Bats and a critical hit. It was pretty one sided because the dice were completely with me on this game. He couldn't hit and I couldn't miss. I lost the Atlantean's and wiped out his team. Record... 1-0

Round 2 I played against (I used the Skrull Kill Crew and he played Deep Shadows)...

Skrull Ms. Marvel with Takedown
Dawnstar with Vendetta
Dawnstar

He declared Vendetta and Quarry on Az-Bats with the one Dawnstar and Quarry on Punisher with the other. This game was going pretty good for me early on. I hit Marvel to get her off of Invul. I took out the Dawnstars. I hadn't lost a fig. Then things went south. I had a terrible time chasing down and hitting Marvel. When I'd finally get close, I couldn't hit. I had to keep pushing my figs just to chase her (dang Indomitable!). In the end I finally got her to her last HSS click but couldn't get her down before he polished off my team. Record 1-1

Round 3 I played against (he played Disruption)...

Powerman/Iron Fist duo
Punisher with Alias
Speedball

This game was all about Shatterstar. He based Punisher early on and pushed him to B/C/F for 5. That put Shatterstar on his 17/CR click which he couldn't crack the rest of the game. The Atlanteans kept moving up to hold PM/IF in place while Az-Bats picked away at range (I had pushed Az-Bats to his second click and was perplexing damage to ping him for 1). My Punisher finally cracked PM/IF wide open with his attack. Meanwhile Speedball had based Shatterstar trying to take him out but couldn't crack the defense. Shatterstar hit Speedball for a B/C/F of 5 (again) KO'ing him. Punisher finished off PM/IF the next rouand and I pushed Shatterstar to KO his Punisher. Record... 2-1.

Az-Bats is a very good fig for his points and Punisher was fun to play. Skrully Ms. Marvel is just sick, wrong, and borken for her points. HSS+Stealth shouldn't even be allowed.
