GenCon Army Building Help
I had to start again.. got rid of all my JSA clicks after finally getting my E2 Supes (sucks to be me) and now that things have started to turn around I am setting my eyes on Gencon Day 2. It says 300 points restricted and I plan on having some fun. The only problem I dont know quite exactly what to play yet.
I was debating the following themes for teams
Animals - Howard the Duck, Chip, That Dog from GLC etc
New Warriors- Nova, Nightcrapper, Darkhawk, Namorita.. wow these guys suck
Doom and his Doom Bots - Does this really need to be explained?
New Fantastic Four - well at three of them
Something involving a whole buttload of GCPDs and Talias
A Michael Turner Tribute Army

So any ideas? I would love to make it to the top 56 so I would like to be semi competitive and still allow me and my opponents to have a good time.

Here's a team that I have been looking at with GCPDs

Theme: Gotham City

GCPD x 3 = 60
Commish Gordon = 50
Talia = 20
JL OOTS Batman = 75
- Maneuver 8
Nightwing (Alpha) = 70
- Contingency Plan 12
- Hold The Line 4

Total: 299

Map choice roll: +7, Theme team PCs: 3

Not sure if Hold the Line would be that effective on Nightwing, so you might want to swap that out for another Feat (you could add a 5 point feat on the team, or a bystander to help take Theme Team PCs action tokens -- maybe the BPRD Technician).

The idea is that the GCPD and Commish fight as as unit, getting his 17 Defense -- not unhittable, but better than their Defenses. They can tie up anything with multiple Plasticity. OOTS Batman with Maneuver is nasty against Stealthed targets... pop up next to them, hit them, and then flip them out of hindering terrain to be hammered by your other team members! With the double Leadership of Gordon and Nightwing, you should be able to swarm effectively, or keep Contingency Plan tokens on the card. Keep Talia and the GCPD up there in the face of your opponents -- remember they are low cost and if you lose a couple of them, that's okay.

Don't know how competitive it will be, but it would certainly be fun to play... I think it'd even be okay to play against, even with OOTS Batman on the team. Of course, it's a Bat team, so it's going to have all the normal problems of a Bat team -- not as mobile, HSS, etc.
95% of Iron Man 3 better be them explaining why he doesn't just call the other Avengers.

Animals can be VERY competative, if you put some thought into the team.

Unfortunately, I think Vixen will be retired (bye-bye cheap taxi) but Mr. Mind (and Compel) will not be retired. Play MSOE on him, and add some Super Apes (who will get default SE TA instead). Pick out some choppers (Miek?) and go to town.

Howard with Contingency Plan is a must for an Animal army.

Did you quit your JSA 1 year plan??

no my wife went to school and I had to be the only bread winner for about 3 months. Lol seeing as how we are both college students living together on our own in our first year, this caused some financial problems.. which caused me to sell all of my clix except for about 12... though I plan on rebuilding real soon.

yeah anything fun... I was hoping to get some fun ideas from you guys.
In Mechwarrior Nationals 04 I played a faction pure team (think theme without the bonuses at the time) and did really well.. like 76 out of the 200+
in MW Nat 06 I Played the worst piece in the game and some support. This Mech was horrible.. lol it had guns but no range and a16 defense. I managed to turn him into a winner and even gave one of the few top 8 guys his only loss before sunday. All while getting the room to chant Flavio

And then there was the Mr Miracle Fiasco last year. I played 3 Mr Miracles and feats and managed to make it to a pretty decent place too. I think I was at least in the top 25.

So this year I want to make a fun themey team again and manage to compete long enough to show some of these Heroclix Hardasses that winning can be fun and themey too :P

Ravager is 60 points, and quite beastly. Plus all that combat reflexes that goes into regen is going to be nice since the new rules will be in effect at gencon, and combat reflexes under the new rules is pretty awesome.

I'd also hope to see devil dinosaur and moonboy on that team.

However, I'd probably wait until Secret Invasion has either been completely spoiled or the set is released (whichever comes first) so you have a better idea of what is available to play, and what everyone else will be playing.
