Hi there, just a quick question:
The "com dish" special 3D object from the LOSH starter has me confused (how lame is that!). The text says that it is a heavy object, and that it increases the character's damage value by +1.
So, does that mean that it's +1 instead of the usual +2 for a heavy (making it super lame), or does that +1 add to the usual +2 for a heavy, making it not as cool as the meteorite, but a good substitute for those of us who don't have one.
Standard heavy damage +1 like the old soda machine (+3 total).
It is not like the old pop machine. (Come on, man...soda? You're from Western PA. Get it right.)
Com Dish adds to the damage VALUE.
Pop Machine adds to the damage DEALT.
There's a big different there. For example, the pop machine will get some use if used in a close combat Stunning Blow. The Com Dish will be used up, but no benefit will happen.

Fair enough... it's still +3 total, but the Com Dish can get capped by the Rule of Three.
I recognize that 'pop' is as valid as the 'soda' that I have known all my life in Maine, but I refuse to recognize 'Coke' as anything other than a single type of soda pop. I got a coupon from the Jimmy Fund for a 'Coke' and I had to ask if it meant any soda, any Coke product or just Coke. Too confusing.
I'm pretty sure all objects now just modify damage. I don't know anything about the old 3D's though, So I could be (and probably am) wrong.
You're right that all objects modify damage, BUT any special objects (like the old 3D objects) have added rules that may adjust that. For example, the Pop/Soda Machine had a special rule that it added +1 to damage DEALT (in addition to regular damage), so that doesn't change the impact based on the new rules (because it's not being a modifier for that +1). If they made another Special Object that increased damage dealt (which I doubt they would), that would have the same effect.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
