Okay boys and girls, here we have 128 Classic One Hit Wonders, carefully chosen by us All (and none too soon, I might add ), which will be pitted against one another, Match by Match, Round by Round, weeding them all out until they get to the FINAL MATCH, which will have our two favorite OHWs face against one another to see which one emerges as Grand Champion of our latest Rock Wars!

Now this isn’t just a “What has it done, How Iconic is it, How much has it Sold” contest. This isn’t just which song is the more Classic or Legendary, but more of a which one do YOU like more, which do YOU feel you would rather listen to, and ultimately more deserving to move on.

Pretty basic really. Songs are matched up, you all vote on the one you like more, the winner goes to the Next Round, and we do this over and over again until the Rounds are Over. Easy. I do ask that you all give objective opinions and votes here, listening to All songs and arguments within this TOC with an open mind, beginning to end, and base your honest votes from that.

Lastly, I would like to state that all songs here in this TOC are to be considered OHWs for the purposes therein, and No One should cast votes against any one solely because you dont think it is in fact a OHW. I wasn't even aware that Tracy Ullman was ever a singer and I was surprised by how much I liked her song. It's too bad it came up against the Sugar Hill Gang.

See, the thing that turns me off about Rappers Delight is the length, as in I find it too long. It would easily get my vote if it were about 3 minutes shorter than it is, but while I really enjoy it at the start, by the finish Im kinda just waiting for it to end. Im more than fine with RD moving on, but I think personally Im going with the more short and sweet Tracy Ullman tune, They Dont Know (heck, it has Paul McCartney in the video, what else can you ask for).

Tracey Ullman gets my vote. The version of Rappers Delight I like is from the Wedding Singer and has that older woman singing it....

The woman who wrote this song for Tracy Ullman is the voice on the Pogues song Fairytale of New York, Kirsty MacColl. Lovely voice, lovely lady, mysterious death in Mexico. I always used to play this song (DC remembers) all the time back in the day. It was fun listening to it again. As good as Rapper's Delight is, I gotts ta go with my nom.
