Considering getting out...
Hey all,

I'm considering selling off my collection. I have everything from Infinity Challenge to Secret Invasion(except for a few chases) and I have most of Arkham Asylum. I still love the game, and I'd still judge at my venue. I keep my collection at my home, but my friends and I never play here. We play at my buddies place and between all of the guys we play with (myself excluded) they have all of the pieces, so my collection is essentially just collecting dust and taking up space. I've had the conversation with my significant other and she supports me no matter what I decide to do, but I'm kind of torn. I've spent a lot of time and effort collecting pretty much every piece from the game, but I don't use them. I was just looking for some opinions or advice.

Thanks,

I say never sell unless your 150% sure that you're getting out, and it's something that you have no reservations about at all.

I mean, it would suck to sell all those pieces you've fought tooth and nail to get and then one day say to yourself: "You know what, I want to click through my Vet Deadpool's dial....oh yeah....that's right..."

Lesser things have drove many a man to suicide....

*Disclaimer...I personally do NOT have an obsession with Deadpool, nor his click, and do NOT by ANY means sit for hours hunkered over him, clicking though his dial repeatedly and muttering things to myself like..."My precious...." Nor do I condone such behaviour...*Gollum..errr cough cough cough*...ummmmm...Huh?

pics or it didn't happen >.>

i wouldn't sell them if you don't need too =/ you never know what might happen, i mean one of your friend's house could burn down and their clixs are melted into one big mass or something, you have to move, or maybe some new player shows up at your venue and you can bring some stuff to help them get started or something, you never know...so unless you need to for some reason, or are completely positive that you want to get rid of them, then i wouldn't =/

Like others, I think that since you seem uncertain that's a good reason not to go cold-turkey and part with your entire collection which you've obviously put a lot of time, money, and effort into.

However, If you do feel like cutting it down a bit and no longer feel like you want to have a complete collection of the entire run of Heroclix, then I think you could go through there and pick out the pieces that you never play, or have no interest in ever playing, and either sell them or, like Wade Wilson suggested, give them to new players at your venue to help get them started.

The thing is, I never play with my own figures. I'm a judge at a venue and generally use other peoples figs if it's necessary for me to play. My circle of friends play at one specific area and they have everything I'd need to play.

I still love heroclix, but it just doesn't make sense that I hold onto my collection, I could sell them and probably make enough money to buy a really nice hd tv. Not that I've planned it out or anything....

I know what you mean. I'm getting tired of clix too. With all the new rules, its just not as fun as it used to be, it seems.

That's why you play home games, so you can be all mavericky and use whatever rules you want. Flyers carrying flyers? Why not?! Knocking people back through walls for additional damage? Sure! HSS and Exploit working together like the ads for KC Shaz said they would? Absolutely! Don't let new rules stop you from enjoying a game you've loved for so long!

And to the point of the post. Don't sell your clix. Someday you'll regret it. Long after that fancy HDTV is some outdated hunk of junk, those HeroClix can still hit the map and kick out a ton of fun. If you're still in the game - playing with friends, judging, haunting HCRealms and so on - you can't ditch your collection. Sure your pals don't play at your place now, but what happens when that changes? What about when you're judging and there's a very certain team you want to play if you get to play a bye round? Without your clix, what do you have then? I'll tell you what you've got; misery and woe. That, and a big pile of regret that sits in your belly like a cancer and eats away at everything that makes you happy until it consumes your very soul, leaving you an emotionless, joyless husk of a person driven to drink, depression, loneliness and an early grave. Keep your clix and wait for that new stimulus check from the government to bankroll the HDTV - they should be in the mail in a few months. This is called "having your cake and eating it too".

Honestly, I'm very much leaning towards getting rid of my collection. All of the advice is appreciated, but I don't see things changing anytime in the near future, so my clix are just gonna sit in the cases while the cases collect dust. I'm trying to decide how to go about selling. Should I do another auction (ugh) or just give everything fixed prices.. I dunno! Help me decide!

Just a heads up. I think you should keep your favorite clix. Keep enough to fill one of those cases. This is just in case things happen and you could have been without all of your clix, you are still left with some.

As for selling stuff, I can't really give you any good ideas. It seems like a fruitless endeavor because Christmas is coming and presents do not usually include heroclix bought on this site. In the long run it would seem like you would not be getting as much money for it, especially with this economy at the moment. I would say stick it out until the summer time. By that time you will be able to gauge everything better.
Huge Auction with figures from IC to ASM. Lots of ASM CURS, various SRs, LEs, Chases, and CUR/REV figures from all sets. Win prizes like AA Chase Batman and Con Exclusives!!! 32 items left in the going phase. Get your bids in before time expires!

As others have said, getting rid of your collection could end up biting you in the end. However, if you're dead set on doing it you might consider just selling off all of your pre Avengers clixs to start. That let you keep almost all the current legal pieces and clear out alot of space.

As for how to do it, maybe just post them as full sets and sell each set seperately.
I can haz new powrz?

Sounds like you've more or less made up your mind, but like Phantalien suggested I would still hold onto your favorites. Even if you don't play your figures, keep the figures that you enjoy playing the most. You never know what'll happen. Maybe you'll end up moving and want a few to take with you, maybe some of your friends will end up moving, who knows. Unless you're really looking into quitting the game my personal opinion is that it's well worthwhile to hold onto at least a few figures for yourself just as back-up in case the need arises.

well, with the news, I don't know if it's worth it to sell now. I kind of have the feeling that I won't get what collection is really worth what with the game ending and all....
