One step forward.....(news from Topps)
Greetings from New York! For those of you that haven't heard, I moved to New York to join the Topps team, today is my 10th day on the job at Topps. Now that my head is above water, I thought it would be a good time to share the latest and greatest from the trenches.

Regarding the sale of HeroClix: We felt it would be irresponsible to start any sort of official communication before we were close to the finish line in terms of a deal coming together. We’ve been working toward that end very diligently and hope to have some news to share shortly. Deals of this nature sometimes move at glacial speeds while at the same time require quick responses by all involved.

As mentioned in the ICV2 article, we’re looking into the feasibility of releasing HeroClix product this summer given the extended hiatus. That, in and of itself, is a tough proposition as there are many obstacles to overcome. The good news is that we’ve started that process and we are working with our vendors and some key former WizKids employees. Yesterday, in a conference call, we kicked the plan into a higher gear. We’re not out of the woods yet (in terms of a release), but we are starting to see some clearing. I will provide updates on hcrealms as we move down that path.

Until then, keep the faith.

-Justin

Neat.
I would be so thrilled to see HeroClix back on the shelves. And this product has been around for awhile, so hopefully Topps will be able to look back at the past failures and successes to ensure a healthy relaunch of the game we all love to play.
Keep up the good work Topps dudes and Realms supporters!

Congrats on your position at TOPPS! I hope this job goes well for you. It is always good to hear some news.

One question...

What is your job title at the TOPPS company now?

Or

Is that title related to some hopeful good news to the heroclix community?

I called Topps and spoke w/ a Rep named Collin. I asked if he knew anything regarding heroclix. He said what's "heroclix" and then laughed and said just kidding. He is aware of the huge following that Heroclix has and he said just recently the calls had been coming in. Asked if Catalyst or pinata was to be involved, he said not at this time, but was vague on matter. Asked what is happening w/ heroclix product right now, he said that at this time, he could not give a lot of info, but they are planning something w/ heroclix in the summertime. He said that they have talked about kickstarting it whether through producing it themselves or selling it. Aked if HoT would be the first set released, he said if they release it themselves, he said not sure if someone else picks it up. He said he had just become aware of the HCrealms and I also inform him on the save heroclix website. He said At this time details were vague, but that we should here something in the summer soon. Here's Hoping! BTW, repping anyone who calls!

Its not a lot of great news, but maybe I can use it to intice back a few of our players who have left the game. I 've copied it to show to our players at our venue.

Thanks for the update Justin.

Is it just a coincidence that you're posting here today - now that people have started to call Topps and are posting on the Topps forums?

I seriously doubt that he can comment one way or the other on whether the dials are real or not.

I highly doubt that.

Sorry about the bad words towards the Pinata guys. Frustration and all. Glad to hear Heroclix will continue.

Looking forward to step two (and three and four and on and on ad infinitum until you have no choice but to give me a Doc Savage figure just to give us a character you haven't done yet.)
I plan on not dying until I've gotten every figure I ever wanted turned into clix (and had several opportunities to play them.)
