Clix vs. Comix 2 (81-90) R2: White Martian vs. Cosmic King
I was playing Heroclix the one day and I looked at my selection and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same amount of points. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.
That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!
Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies and their character cards (if the figure does not have a card, assume there was a custom one made). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig).

(Defense) Elemental Backlash: Cosmic King can use Barrier. When Cosmic King is the target of a successful close combat attack, the attacker is dealt 1 damage after the attack resolves.
Would CK know of the Martian Weakness, being from the distant future?
Well, Martians seem to be extinct in his era so likely not, but it is on the martian's card... so he'll have an idea to use fire, but not know about some of the Martian's other powers like phasing, invisibility, telepathy (though I think last round we established CK as having nice mental blocks), and martian vision.

Given that he's an expert in alchemy/chemistry, a RANGED matter alterer, and the fact that they're in a city rife with raw material, I'd say that the Martian may be pretty well toast.

They're also in a city rife with cover that a martian can phase through to get close and stick an arm through him, or attack while invisible, or blitz him with superspeed.
Cosmic King's pretty powerful but there's a lot he has to worry about from a Martian that he doesn't even know to worry about. The martian knows CK is a transmuter too after all.

It's one of the closest battles we've seen for a while, but in the end I'm going to vote Cosmic King on this. Knowing the Martians don't like fire and being able to take advantage of it will give him an awfully powerful edge. Yes, the Martian is sneaky and has a very broad and versatile power set, and certainly should be able to win at least some of the time, but overall, I'm going with Cosmic King.
Still, while fire'll beat the martian, a lot of the martian's powers will beat King. In this terrain the martian's likely to be able to sneak up for a first shot too.
I'll go for power and versatility here. My vote: The Martian

Cosmic King can pretty much light the whole arena on fire. Not much the white martian can do to stop him since CK has some psychic defenses apparently.
