long range combat and adjacdency/elevated terrain and others
I really need clearing up on this...who can shoot who when two targets are of different elevation? And can someone perform a long range combat against someone of a different elevation when adjacdent to them? how about when not adjacdent to them? i ll give a few examples that happened today:
Blue Beetle adjacdent to Nightwing who is on a roof, wants to target Robin in the distance who is on ground with beetle...can he? can he instead target nightwing on the roof?
About HyperSonic Speed...can Flash, being 4 away from a Veteran TOMorrow, come in for a round, then move away another 6 spaces after connecting? WHAT IF HE MISSES?!? As for those without HSS, they would have to STOP in a square that an opposing figure occupies, but those with HSS doesnt have to, meaning Flash/Supes could run by someone reaching someone else to attack then run away?
Sorry if all this sounds so newbieish, it is because I am one! thanks!

The key thing you need to know is that a non-elevated figure is not adjacent to an elevated figure. If Nightwing is on the roof and Blue Beetle is on the ground, they're not considered adjacent to each other. Leap/Climb allows Nightwing to use close combat attacks if Blue Beetle's square would be otherwise adjacent, but the figures themselves---not.
Blue Beetle is not adjacent to Nightwing and therefore is not locked into base-to-base combat. He can attack Robin, and assuming he has LOF to Nightwing he can make that attack as well.
Yes, Flash is able to make an attack at any point during his movement, which means that he can move both before and after his attack takes place. Keep in mind, this is a single attack and not the repeating HSS attack. It doesn't matter if he misses, his movement is unaffected. The exception is that if a critical miss causes him to lose his HSS then he won't be able to continue moving any more. And your question about HSS stopping when adjacent is also a "yes." They don't have to stop when adjacent and they don't have to roll for breakaway.
ok great thanks for the clarification...also my friend doesnt think breakaway rolls apply if you HAVENT fought, i told him that was untrue, it applies WHENEVER you are adjacdent to an opponent, period, right? thanks!

one last thing, can you FIRE at someone on a higher elevation using long range combat? that was the TRUE heart of my peeves today, those on the ground FIRING on those up above...i say you cant, you only can FIRE DOWNWARDS, not UPWARDS, hmm?
