If this episode doesn't make you a fan of NBC's "Community," You Are Dead Inside
Watch this episode of NBC's highly amusing sitcom "Community," starring Joel McHale of "The Soup" as an ex-lawyer forced to go back to community college to get a real degree because he faked it all before. He has accidentally created a study group for a Spanish class taught by the maniacal Senor Chang (Ken Jeong of The Hangover) and the bunch of mismatched personalities is quite amusing.

You have Jeff Winger (McHale) as the snarky guy trying to coast his way through this as he has through the rest of his life.

There's Britta (Gillian Jacobs), the 29-year-old washout who trades barbs with Jeff and clings to political correctness to mask her own fragile ego.

There's Troy (Don Glover), the ex-high school jock treading water in school while apparently taking psychopharmacology classes because he thought it was about "crazy farm animals."

There's Abed (Danny Pudi), the hyper-aware, fourth-wall bending pop culture genius freak with some sort of unnamed social disorder like Asperger's who constantly narrates character interactions and makes the show a complete meta comedy amusement park.

There's Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown), the religiously sweet divorced mother of two who "wasted 15 years on a man who left her with nothing but the blurry memory of two bland orgasms and now she's out to get hers."

There's Annie (Alison Brie), the repressed overachiever who got derailed in high school by a pill-popping addiction who is trying to get back on track while taking offense at many things.

And there's Pierce (Chevy Chase), the oblivious, obnoxious and offensive old guy who is borderline insane or senile.

In this most recent episode, a campus-wide paintball game becomes the mother of all love letters to classic action movies.

As a follow-up mandate, watch the Mafia movie love letter entitled Contemporary American Poultry.

Enjoy this show, and then talk about it a lot because it's great.

What is the show about? I saw some like commercial on speed for it a few days ago (it was like one of those commercials where they show a lot of the shows on the channel at once...)

I tried to provide a good summary there in the first post, about what the whole series is about and this particular episode. Any further questions?

There was that episode about the sociology experiment in which Troy asked if they paid extra to be a test subject if he let them to stuff to his butt.

I thought Amy Poeler was in this show? So it is just about Community Colleges?

Amy's in "Parks and Recreation".

I've been a fan of this show since the first episode; admittedly the first few were "rocky" but once they started to find their ground this became one of the shows which I most eagerly anticipate each week.

It's a nice mix of off-beat quirky, contemporary comedic and, well, slightly warm and fuzzy...but in a great way.

Abed and Troy need their own spin-off as they kill me with their weekly "end of the episode segment" (the watergun fight is -classic-!)
Still not giving up on Someday.

It's about a group of seven misfits attending a community college who get together in a Spanish study group and also have shenanigans.

There is also a character whose sideburns are shaved into the shape of stars. His name is Starburns.

Starburns is one of the fun little "in-jokes" you find in the series. The actour is a long-time comedy writer - including being the creatour of Morel Orel for CN - and initially appeared due to friendship with the guys behind "Communit" (he's also a consultant/writer for the series).

My personal favourite "in-joke" though was when Abed used Don Draper as his model for practicing seduction with Annie.

(And a third one, just because...remember when people misunderstood and thought Brita had a sidejob as a stripper? In the background one of the cast asks if her name is "Cherry Daiquiri"...which was a stripper role played by the actress in "Choke".)

I nearly fell off the couch laughing at that one!

This is easily one of my favourite shows on TV and probably the only new one this season that I really enjoy. It took me a little bit of time to warm up to it, but I've grown to appreciate each of the characters and the genuinely clever and witty writing. The occasional subtly of it is a nice change of pace from most sitcoms. What few are left anyway.

I think one of my favourites was when the group decided to go into their religious backgrounds and Jeff admitted he was agnostic. He got some guff for it, but the part I laughed the hardest at was later on when writing a test he noticed the answers for one question were:
a) True
b) Flase
c) None of the above
