Looking to make some "Vintage" theme teams.
So, I was thinking, we have all this new stuff coming out, but I have boxes of complete past sets. I was going to make some theme teams out of past sets, only using one set per team.

My first attempts,
Set: Infinity Challenge.
Keyword: Martial Artist
  • E Kingpin
  • V Sabretooth
  • E Captain America
  • E Black Panther
  • V Daredevil
  • E Bullseye
  • U Elektra
  • U Wolverine
  • LE Blade
399 points.
Since there are no more Arch Enemies in the game, Wolverine and Sabretooth can be on the same team.

Set: Infinity Challenge.
Keyword: X-Men
  • V Cyclops
  • V Rogue
  • E Magneto
  • LE Jean Grey
  • LE Wolverine
384 points

Set: Infinity Challenge.
Keyword: Warrior
  • V Skrull Warrior
  • V Firelord
  • U Thanos
  • U Elektra
  • U Wolverine
399 points

Next up, Hypertime.

Love that team, to this day. It's still very much a first strike team compared to the modern game, but viable.

The first team lack mobility.

The second team with double TK can get first strike and yoyo. Their biggest problem is AV, but they should get enough chances.

Third team has great AV but no first strike capability which is it's biggest problem. They may never miss, but the game could be decided before they get the chance to hit.

It would be bloody but I think X-men take down the warriors.

X-Men are my favorite too, Jean also has support, so if you get dinged up a bit, you can heal.

Put Firelord and three Con Artists on ANY team, and it looks "vintage".

95% of Iron Man 3 better be them explaining why he doesn't just call the other Avengers.

Two different sets. I'm looking to do the teams only from one set.

It did not fair well. I faced a JLI team with Booster and Beetle and Miracle and Oberon Duos with Wonder Woman and OOTS Bats.

The other team was an SSoSV team with Gentleman Ghost, Captain Cold, Chronos, Captain Boomerang and Despero

So, how was it being the one there for the most fun?

On to Clobberin Time.
The obvious one to try and make here is Fantastic Four.
In the old days, all the REV versions of the core four made a X00 point team depending on what ring color you used. R = 200, E = 300, V = 400. You could also swap out the E Thing for E She-Hulk, and E Invisible Girl with U Medusa for their time on the team. The dials on most of the pieces were Dreadful though. The highlights were R Invisible Girl, with her stealth and 18 Defend for only 37 points. V Human Torch with 10 move running shot, 10 attack and 3 damage (This was actually not a bad damage back then) and a 10 range. The E and V Thing weren't bad, Charge with Super Strength and 4 damage meant he was dealing a monstrous 6 damage with a heavy object.
So, after saying all that, here is a theme team using the Fantastic Four keyword.
R Invisible Girl
E Thing
V Human Torch
V Logan
E She Hulk
390 points

Here's one you wouldn't think of, but Brute.
R Blob (He was filler)
R Thing
R Logan
R She Hulk
U Titania
U Mr. Fixit
394 points

Now, the one I have the most hope with is Mystical
V Black Cat
V Dr. Doom
U Spiral
U Enchantress
LE Rachel Van Helsing.
395 points.

If I really wanted to, I could do a Skrull team with the Super Skrull and some Commandos, but they aren't that good either.

It's a Two-fer day. Two fer one :P

Xplosion

The title characters in here seem to be the X-Men, so I will start with an X-Men team.
V Iceman
V Beast
V Psylocke
V Gambit
V Storm
U Shadowcat
U Phoenix.
396 points
Some good attacks and damage. A bit of Perplex, some RCE and Enhancement. Phoenix has her TK to get the figures out to where they can make their attacks. Beast even has end of the dial healing.

Armor
R Scorpion (Filler and a tie up piece)
V Crimson Dynamo
V Silver Samurai
V Iron Man
392 points

Not a great team, but Iron Man has Running Shot, 12 movement and 10 range/2 targets with 3 damage, or use EE if the targets are clustered. Also has RCE, so if he can stand in the spot, he can get that 5 damage shot off. Crimson Dynamo has no move and attack powers, but has Super Strength and RCE so he can get an object and make it so he is a threat to focus on. SilSam and Scorpion are there to tie up with their L/C and Phasing, and in the case of SilSam, he can do a bit of damage too withi his BCF and 11 attack.

Probably the one here that stand the best chance is Martial Artists.
V Psylocke
V Taskmaster
E Silver Samurai
E Gambit
V Mandarin
LE Elektra (Nun-chuck Hand Ninja)
LE Raven Darkholme
399 points

Lots of stealth (5 out of 7 figures). 3 Perplex, 3 blades, a touch of outwit and a lot of fun. Only thing to make this better would be a bit of TK (But the Martial Artist with TK was in the last set with Moondragon)
