I haven't heard of this comic before today. Quick wiki search (didn't read the whole entry there) tells me that it was a mini-series. Was it any good? Seems like it might be a fun action flick to watch from the preview. Any thoughts?
It's pretty different then the movie from what I have heard...but it is supposed to be a pretty good comic...I am going to see the movie though just because Mary Louise Parker is in it and usually can't go wrong with Bruce Willis as the lead

#### it. Now I'm gonna troll it like my name was Wade Wilson.
It's a hard and fast story with a black-ops/military background. I got the series because I'm a Warren Ellis junky and it is quite good. Having said that, I will NOT be seeing the movie. Like most "adapted from ____" movies, the storyline has been warped until almost nothing of the original story remains (Wanted, anyone?).
Read the comic books, enjoy them, see the movie if you must, but they are not the same thing.
End of rant.
I didn't go to Harvard or Yale but I can kick a man in the crotch as well as any other.

Not being like the comic book is the main reason I liked Wanted.
I hadn't heard of the comic, but the movie looks like silly fun.

You know, I was just having a similar thought on that subject last night while I was watching Ocean's 11. I recently got one of those 4 movies in 1 box deals and it had all the recent Ocean's movies plus the original with the brat pack. I watched the original Ocean's Eleven two nights ago and watched Ocean's 11 yesterday night and the differences in the two movies is enough that I'd have a hard time arguing that the latter was a remake of the original. And really, this is true of a lot of 'remakes', though I guess they get around that issue by calling them 're-invisioning's instead. But if your going to do that why not just cut all ties from the original and call it something else and just let ppl know that the movie was inspired by an older one?
Meh... Anywho, anyone else read the comic? Is it worth finding/picking up a copy?
The movie looks pretty cool. And I actually kinda like Bruce Willis as an actor. Not saying that he's one of the greatest actors ever, but I usually tend to enjoy his movies (and even his small role in Ocean's 12).
I watched the panel of this movie at Comic-Con with Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Mary Louise Parker, Karl Urban, Warren Ellis, Cully Hamner and some other folks there (I think the director was on hand). Willis described the experience as "recess all day long", saying that's an incredibly fun film. It looks that way, especially for John Malkovich's part. Also, the Queen's gonna be shooting mother####ers. So, yeah, i'll be seeing this.

I'm assuming you read Wanted before seeing the movie. Now, be honest, do you honestly think they could ever get away with making a word-for-word adaptation of that book? For god's sake, the moral compass in that story made Clockwork Orange look like ####ing Care Bears. Also, there's a character who's literally a walking talking pile of ####. I fear the day we see something like that on film (except in Dogma).

I have the comics and, unfortunately, no, we would never see a true adaptation of the comic, but I was so disgusted with the movie being almost nothing like it except for the very basic skeletion of the plot that I really wished that they had changed the name. I guess I'm just a stickler like that.

That's fair.

Loved the comic. Fast-paced spy fun. Good story, with a good character.
I got the trade at WWE and then heard they were making it a movie. So the research began. Bruce Willis in the lead? Are you kidding me? Perfect casting!!!
The movie has changed what seems to be the entire plot. They got what RED stood for correct so they have that going for them.
If I didn't know what it was based on, I'm sure I'd be happier. I'll still see it but this goes back to a question I've asked a million times; Why bother adapting something if you change the whole darn thing? Think up new character names and move on!
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.

I won't argue that, but couldn't it have been a secret organization run by anything or more importantly anyONE OTHER THAN A FREAKING LOOM?!?!? Where the hell did that even come from?
I get that the movie going public may have a problem with Super Villians secretly running the world but why would they be OK with a loom? That decision still puzzles me.

With the trailer I kept thinking Helen Mirren as the mother of Tara Chace from Queen and Country.
