So, all the (real) Iron Man fans here (not the power gamers that see a min/max figure), what do you think of the new Iron Man figs we got in WoS?

(Speed) Repulsors Upgraded: Once during your turn, Iron Man can use Force Blast as a free action.
: The movement is right on. Iron Man is very mobile, and his newest armor is capable of Mach 8 speeds. His repulsor technology is brought to life by his Repulsors Upgraded special power, and is freakin' awesome! It's going to be hard to tie up the Golden Avenger, which it should be.
The Energy Explosion is nice, but I would like to have seen a bit more up front. Tony usually battles against hordes of A.I.M. or HYDRA agents, and he usually comes in first to take out the masses to thin the numbers, and EE is the perfect power this. But at least he gets a few clicks of it... but on the wrong part of the dial!
I noticed he doesn't have Pulse Wave, which is fine by me. But he really should have had a special power for some of those clicks:
EMP Blast: Iron Man can use Pulse Wave, but this attack only affects characters with the Armor or Robot keywords.
Now that would have been totally kick ###! You let us down WizKids on that! Tony has had electromagnetic pulse blast tech for quite some time.
Finally, an Iron Man that gets Indomitable. For a guy that once battled the Hulk for about a consecutive 24 hours, and knocked the Hulk out... it's about damn time! Of course, Tony almost died. Scott Lang as Ant-Man had to enter the armor and open it so Tony didn't suffocate.
The DV numbers are about right. Tony comes in with his tech, he's hard to hit due his on-board computers... but once he starts taking damage to his armor... his DV drops, and he begins to tire out. I love the 3 clicks of Impervious. Just right. Had he had 4 clicks of Impervious, it would have been too much. In this case, 3 is the magic number. The Invulnerability and Toughness comes in the right doses as well. The one click of Regeneration is just right. He shouldn't have two clicks as some may argue. His self-repair diagnostic programs are good, but they are not match for say, Wolverine's healing factor.
Iron Man dishes out the pain. He has the firepower to roast a a normal human in one hit if need be. He doesn't like killing though (as War Machine has no qualms about it), but Iron Man is capable of handing out a big ###-whoopin' if need be. 4 Damage Value is perfect for a base... Iron Man should never exceed a 4 base DV. Now, I really wish he had his RCE on the first click... while it is still early in the battle... but no serious complaints at all. When he does get RCE, he is dishing out 6 DV for two consecutive clicks, and has RCE for three clicks. That rocks!
In my opinion, this Iron Man has too much Outwit. Sure, Tony is a genius, and even a decent tactical warrior (thanks to Captain America teaching him), but he usually solves the problem or finds that chink in his opponent's armor later in the battle. Super Senses (his onboard computer's warning system) or even Perplex would have been a bit more comic accurate than that much Outwit. He should have at least one click of Super Senses on his first click of Damage. Save the Outwit for the last one or two clicks; four clicks is not justifiable.
8: What are you thinking WizKids? This is his damn veteran. I can live with the 8 RV, but being a Vet, it honestly should be a 10 RV. But the unforgivable is only giving him . Had it been his Rookie, would be fine. But we are talking about one of the most advanced weapons known to man-kind. He should have without a doubt!
Team Ability: The S.H.I.E.L.D. TA is O.K. We already have our S.H.I.E.L.D. Iron Man though. I would rather have seen him with the Avengers TA. But I guess the S.H.I.E.L.D. TA will be perfect for battling Norman Osborn and his H.A.M.M.E.R. So not that big of a deal.
Keywords: Keywords are perfect for a Vet version of Iron Man. No complaints and comic accurate.
Sculpt: The sculpt is pure garbage and is inexcusable. The tampo stamp for this Tri-Beam is really lame and lazy on WizKids' part. The sculpt is also out of O-Gauge scale, slightly smaller. The body is too flat, especially his backside. Also, his hands are very badly sculpted; no details in his fingers, and how they mold onto his hips, with the extra filler plastic in between is horrible sculpt quality. The sculptor of this figure (and the Iron Patriot) should feel ashamed. The Handful of Heroes sculpts put this figure to shame, and that is just sad for something that is marketed as a collectible miniature game.
im not a huge iron man fan but i have to say this fig is great! All out assault is great if the opponents figs start to gang up! I found them surprisingly playable in a 300 point game too!
I think it's a great fig, but I also think you're clearly an iron man fanboy so you're going to be biased. (Not flaming, just pointing out a fact. I have love for my X-men as well, so my opinion of their figs are typically colored as well.)
That being said..... I haven't seen it played yet, but it sure seems like it should hold its own with other 300+ figs.
After that IM/WM duo turned my team into swiss cheese I ordered one of my own. That common Iron Man is a beast too, that free force blast is a game changer.
No offense but between Ben (talking about why he gave Nightcrawler the speed value he did) and now you stating that "mach 8" thing with Iron Man I wonder when the DC guys will finally get the speed value due them (aside from KC Flash and OG Jay Garrick).
OT: I am not sure I like this Iron Man any better than the cheaper SI version.

My biggest problem is that we didn't get a Tony Stark as well. That means we'll get that one probably next set, where I think we had our fair share of Iron Men the last couple of sets.
Nuts for Squirrel Girl! # of times played:
Friendly games - 1
Tourneys - 3 (won 2!)
That Force Blast special power is hardly new. It appeared on Malice, Kid Flash, and the LE Kid Flash that I remember, and I've had a ton of fun with it in the past. Is having it on a brick especially different? I haven't played against him yet, but I imagine it would be slightly less effective on a bigger guy.

To one of your points on this figure. SHIELD TA is WAY better then Avengers on this figure. I was able to copy his TA with Wildcards all during the sealed to boost damage or range. and while I'm not likely to give a 202 point Iron Man power actions to boost other figures damage he does boost adjacent figures range as a free action.
I am so glad he didnt get the Avengers TA!!!

Oh c'mon who are you trying to kid? Your such an Iron man mark, you'd find the sunny side of this figure even it totally sucked and was over-costed by 100 pts.
I'd argue that the SI Iron Man + the WoS Researcher would be a better use of points than WoS Tony, especially if you're going Golden Age and have the extra points to toss in "Brilliant Tactician" for good measure. Furthermore, the lack of the "Mighty Avengers" keyword on WoS Iron Man kind of stinks. That being said, Indomitable and free Force Blast are nice and WoS Iron Man will probably sneak his way into some of my SHIELD teams.
Oh, and while I don't like the WoS Iron Man sculpt, I think it works very well representing Iron Patriot for what he is, a shoddily put together Iron Man wanna-be. (I mean, it even says on the back of his card that Norman's suit has no repulsor technology and Stormin' Norman has no experience operating powered armor. That sculpt was clearly on purpose. How many more hints do they have to drop? )
Understood that it is not a new power, however, it is completely different when played with a HSS support figure, compared to a ranged monster.
I mainly used it on Kid Flash and LE Kid Flash to run up and FB someone off a roof.
With Iron Man, it becomes the swarm buster, which is the foremost strategy when dealing with a brick like him. Now he just FB's one of the foes away and deals with another one by themselves, or more importantly, he FB's the weak tie-up fig away, so he can deal with the larger threat.
I think the Iron Man in WoS is good piece but a bit of a trap in sealed (ask Akbar if you don't believe me). 9 out of 10 times your team will be Iron Man and one other piece. I like bigger teams with the points spread out and that seems to be what wins most tournies I've played in.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.
Yeah. The idea that any character over 150 points should have Avengers is stupid. There isn't much need for a character between 100-150 points to have the team, either. We already have an Iron Man with Avengers, and you know what? The team ability is an absolute waste of points on him.
SHIELD is way better. Putting Avengers on the new Iron Man would have been asinine. People actually want Wizkids to design garbage?
I'm in Boston! I know there are a few places to play Heroclix, but I'm always curious to know about more.
