I just started playing a month or so and I'm going to only my second tournament so I need a little help on building a team. We are playing 500 points Golden Age but one of our characters must be named Spider-Man or Peter Parker (not Spider Hulk or Cosmic Spider-Man just plain Spider-Man).
Now I don't have much as far as figures go, just WoS stuff and Blackest Night (you can check out my Haves/Wants list to see every figure I have). I think I want to play Doppelganger, but if you have any good suggestions for a team without him that's fine. So any ideas for some good Spider-Man teams? Thanks!
Total: 500
Theme team: Monster, +5 to map choice, 2 theme team PCs
I would personally play an Avengers team:
Iron Man / War Machine 300
Spider-Man (black suit) 95
+ Lunge 5
R Beast 42
+ Not So Special 3
R Scarlet Witch 36
R Quicksilver 18
Total: 499
Theme team: Avengers +5 to map choice, 2 theme team PCs
The tactics are relatively simple: IM/WM deal death and destruction while everyone supports them. Quicksilver runs across the board to tie up whomever is most dangerous to IM/WM and tries to stay alive while IM/WM blasts the target. Scarlet Witch works the outside of the battle area, providing PC for IM/WM. Spider-Man and Beast work together, going after mid-level targets. Beast should attack someone with a special power showing to get the benefit of the +1 from Not So Special. The black suit Spidey is brutal, so get him into close combat. If he gets hit, you can use Beast as an X-Men TA battery to heal up Spidey.
Plus, you'll get cool points for using older figures.
... does anyone else have this nagging feeling that there should be a section in the next Rulebook, right before the Glossary, titled "Perspective"? My mods page!

No theme, but lots of symbiotical madness during the game...

Unfortunately like I said I don't have any other stuff besides WoS and Blackest Night. But I could build an Avengers team, this is what I have:
ws014 Iron Man 202 points
ws007 or ws022 Spider-Man 78/95 points
ws020 Firestar 81 points
ws055 Sandman 101 points
462 points (with red and blue Spider-Man) / 479 points (with black Spider-Man)
OR
ws059 Iron Man/War Machine 300 points
ws007 or ws022 Spider-Man 78/95 points
ws055 Sandman 101 points or ws020 Firestar 81 points
479 points with red and blue Spidey and Sandman
459 points with red and blue Spidey and Firestar
496 points with black Spidey and Sandman
476 points with black Spidey and Firestar
So any suggestions on what team looks better or maybe some feats (haven't actually looked at many feats)? Otherwise I'm just going with the Doppelganger/symbiote team.
I'd include a couple of pogs for Silver Sable to Mastermind damage onto. Spider-Man and Sandman are the big guns, while Prowler and Silver Sable provide the ranged attacks. Puma can rip up almost any piece, Wisp can taxi the slowpoke (Sandman) around, and Rocket Racer does hit-and-run. Given the format, Inside Info on Spidey is a must.
Another piece to consider in this type of scenario is The Jackal. A Clone team consisting of:
You could include Inside Info on one of your Spider-Men, but I'd rather use the points to include some pogs for Jackal's mastermind. Your Spiders would be scary with the +2 attack, +1 damage, and potential shape change if Jackal stays close.
Not removing this line from my signature until we get Killer Moth (12/17/12).
Missing IC Remakes: Whirlwind, Constrictor, Controller, Boomerang, Blizzard, Puppet Master
