Last updated: March 15th, 2011 with our last update?
The goal: To collect all the actual information we have for the Giant-Sized X-Men set, to classify it by its level of certainty, and to provide links to the places we got that information from. This post will be updated when more information appears.
The sources:
This is a list of every source I've found so far.
Text Sources:
PlotTwistComics: An early report, mostly confirmed by later reports.
AGOH 1: andywacro's conversation with Justin Ziran at Alliance Games Open House. Much of the information andywacro contributed has subsequently been confirmed by official sources.
And also, the pictures in the Announcement article. I still need a picture of the back of the regular boosters and the left side of the super boosters, as well as a better image of the full set poster.
Bricks will have eight normal boosters and one "super booster". (Announcement) See the section below for information on super boosters.
Super boosters will not change the cost of a brick. (AGOH 1)
The box art states that there will be sixty figures in the set. (Box art) The Alliance solicitation stated that there were over sixty figures in the set, but was then updated to say 67 figures. (Alliance, Alliance 2) The Diamond text states that there will be fifty five new figures, specifically in the regular set. (Diamond) The ICV2 article states that there will be 58 new figures in the regular boosters. (ICV2) The full set poster shows 54 different figures (but doesn't normally show chases, if any). (Full Set Poster) Justin Ziran has confirmed that this number has changed, and that some of the content that was originally set to be released in the super boosters will now appear in the regular boosters. (Ziran Corrections 1)
The set will have fifty-five new sculpts. (Alliance) This may have changed with the shifting of some content from super boosters to the regular ones. (Ziran Corrections 1)
There has been no statement about whether there will be any chases in this set.
The X-Men duos and Horsemen of Apocalypse figures will be in the regular boosters. (Ziran Corrections 1) The X-Men duos are not shown on the full set poster. (Full Set Poster)
Super boosters will replace two regular boosters in bricks, meaning that there will be eight (instead of ten) regular boosters and one super booster in a brick. (Announcement)
Retailers will be able to order additional super boosters at a rate of one per brick ordered. (Announcement)
Super boosters have an SRP of $23.98, the cost of two regular boosters. (Announcement)
Super boosters will be blind and have unique content. (Announcement)
Super boosters may contain figures too large to fit in a regular booster, and/or an entire team. (AGOH 1) There will only be one large figure in each boosters. (Ziran Corrections 2, Ziran Corrections 3)
The nature of the large figures is uncertain. They were initially described as between and in size (AGOH 1), but they have been referred to as giants (NECA Solicitation) and colossals (Alliance) in later sources. Because of this, I will refer to them as "large" in this post. Munchoboy says that at least three of the figures were (Munchoboy) The sentinel is a , and it seems likely the remaining super booster figures are as well.
There will be six different large figures. (Alliance)
There will be twelve different super-booster figures. (Diamond) If six are large, this means six are left for "entire teams". (Ziran Corrections 2)
The "teams" may be X-Men duos and the "Horseman" of Apocalypse, which are mentioned separately from the single large figures. (Diamond) Justin Ziran has corrected these claims. (Ziran Corrections 1)
Buy-it-by-the-brick figure:
The BIBTB figure for this set will be Jamie Madrox (Multiple Man). (Announcement, Picture)
BITB will be handled in the store, rather than by mail. (Announcement)
The OP kit will contain "15 Limited Edition figures, 18 3-D objects. 10 Maps, 1 Instruction Sheet". (NECA Solicitation)
It is stated that this will provide 10 weeks worth of events with four prizes per event (1st, 2nd, Fellowship, & Judge). (NECA Solicitation)
Ordering thresholds are: Venues can order one kit with two cases, two kits with seven cases, and three kits for twelve cases. (NECA Solicitation)
The maps are an alley in Madripor and the Island of Krakoa. (OP Kit Maps) New!
One of the objects is the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak. (Malinator Spoils) New!
The other object seems to be Foom's fingers, but they don't seem to have cards associated with them. (Foom Fingers Objects) New!
Known Figures:
Note: The dial for Magneto that has been spoiled does not match the dial that has been shown in earlier images. As such, the dial information given for the figures below should be taken with a grain of salt (above and beyond any lack-of-credit you give to my visual acuity).
Known Regular booster figures:
Note that all of the following should be considered to use the full set poster for a source. (Full Set Poster)
Fastball Special: Wolverine/Colossus duo figure. This figure is not on the Full Set Poster but is, presumably, one of the X-Men duos Ziran has confirmed will be in the regular boosters. The easiest solution to this problem is that the piece is a chase figure, as chases are not normally included on the posters. However, this is a deduction of the author, not a confirmed fact. If this is the case, there are two other X-Men duos in the set as chases. (Figure picture)
Gambit: Gambit is in the box art, but is not in the Full Set Poster. It is possible that he is a chase and/or a member of one of the X-Men duos. It is unprecedented that a figure be in the box art and not in the set, but everything that happens has to happen for a first time, right? (box art)Updated! (If you want to call being struck out an update.)
Gambit/Rogue: Duo figure, confirmed! (AntedoX) New!
Sentinel, Mark II: (picture, NECA Solicitation) The sentinel has interchangeable hands, with normal hands and a "blasting wolverine" sculpt. Dial Spoiled!
Sentinel, Mark V: Probably . This sentinel has interchangeable hands, with one hand being eye-beams that freeze Cannonball. (Sculpt Picture, Ziran Hands)
This is a fantastic idea. I'm gonna subscribe to this!
Not removing this line from my signature until we get Killer Moth (12/17/12).
Missing IC Remakes: Whirlwind, Constrictor, Controller, Boomerang, Blizzard, Puppet Master
Nice idea. The information seems to be all over the place for this set especially, so this will be a very handy resource. Thanks for the work in compiling it.
I'd rep you if I could, but apparently I need to spread it around first.
I believe that the "Teams" from the giant boosters will be on a big dial like the Planet Hulk event dial. You get like the four FF characters on the big dish as a 400 Pt. "team" that moves as one. It's only a guess, but I'd bet money on this one...it'S sooooo obvious!!!

i would just like to point out that just because someone is on the box art in a certain costume, that does not mean that we will get that version of the character.
WoS had a yellow suit wolverine on the box art. we got a wolverine, just not a yellow one.
I trust that we'll be getting a new Jean Grey, but we're not certain it will be a green suit pheonix (i'm really hoping it is)

Eh....I hope not. It might be cool, but I doubt it.
I'm actually hoping that each big figure will come with an appropriate team included in the booster. Eg: Apocalypse comes packaged with the Four Horsemen in the same booster.
I just hope that all of the 'Super Booster' contents are about equal in coolness/playability and therefore value. I'd hate to get the dud one in my brick and not be able to trade it for one I like more.
With NextWave only being 5 characters, I'm expecting Photon (who would also extend the "Marvel Diva" team from last set), Machine Man, and Boom-Boom (especially since she needs remade and was a member of the original X-Force) to be in the set as well.
I'm also hoping that they sneak a Hellcat into the set to finish off the Marvel Divas, but that one's probably a long shot at best.
