barrier to barrier crossover
One team throws a barrier, second teams turn takes out one block of the barrier and at the end of their turn want to throw a barrier themselves, is this possible going by the diagram below?:

X=empty
B1=barrier from first team
B2=barrier from second team
BB=broken barrier [hindering terrain]

X X B1
X X B1
B1 B1 X
X X X
X X X

original set up is above

X X B1
X B2 B1
B1 BB B2
X X B2
X X B2

Second barrier crosses across hindering terrain's rubble pile [hindering terrain], is this legal?

That's a really tough question.

There's nothing I can see in the PAC or the FAQ that expressly forbids it. All of the barrier markers are adjacent. The rules say that you cannot move or attack through the diagonal corners, but a barrier (while a move action) is not a move, nor is it an attack.

It *should* be illegal, but it does not appear to be so.

Alrighty.... that answered the question....

Code:
xx1xx
xx1xx
11xxx
xxxxx
Where '1' is the first Barrier setup by Team 1
Code:
xx1xx
x21xx
1r2xx
xx2xx
xx2xx
Where '1' is Team 1's Barrier
'2' is Team 2's Barrier
and 'r' is rubble

Because the piece of team 1's Barrier was destroyed, there really is no issue of 'crossing' the Barrier.

I would have to say that this can be done.

Looks good to me.
Diagonal hindering and blocking dont create anything special.

I was looking at it differently, my mistake. Is this a legal placement for two Barriers?

X1XX
X122
X211
X2XX

The Barriers cross in this picture, and there are no destroyed barriers. There doesn't seem to be anything that expressly forbids it, but it doesn't feel right.

Tsannik?

Cant cross Barriers like that.

Once the first Barrier is up the two diagonal squares are no longer adjacent.

All Barrier placement must be adjacent.

Checking the rules and FAQ, there's nothing saying that those squares are no longer adjacent. Hence my dilemma.

From the FAQ:

"Squares on different elevations are not adjacent to each other.
Characters on different elevations are not adjacent to each other."

(and that's all the FAQ has to say about adjacency)

From the rules:

"Characters on opposite sides of blocking terrain or on different elevations (see Terrain) are not considered adjacent"

That says "characters". It doesn't say that the squares are not adjacent.

As I said, it should be illegal, but there's nothing specific in the rules that says it is not. IMHO, it should be addressed in a future FAQ.
