I see that no one here has wished me Happy Canada day, yet people have mentioned their plans for BBQs and cookouts on Independence day...bad form! How will international relations be strengthened if we don't even extend each other these courtesies?

Come on, NECA-Marvel Horror Theme Set 2011!
Good idea! I'll likely do one last wave of shopping early Saturday, and I may add that to the list.
The closest I've come to that was buying a large number of meaty chicken wings which I'll be baking on a slotted broiler sheet in order to get something close to that deep-fried crispiness without all the fat and oil. Then I'll be tossing them in plastic containers with sauces -- probably mostly bbq sauce, as none of us are that much into hot wings.

Heh. Definitely an oversight.
I knew it was Canada Day, among other reasons, because the Phillies were up in Toronto for game one of a series, and the home team was sporting their special, red uniforms.
Anyway, I hope you had a pleasant one. Did you do anything special?

Mine won't be shipped until the main set is ready to go -- I made the mistake of placing both orders at the same time, and so it's shipped as a unit once the last item arrives. When all that hits I'm going to be overwhelmed.
When my usual place I order from decided to be out of GSX I found someplace else. So I ordered the GF from one and the threw some business to the new place for the regular set. Otherwise I probably would have been in the same position.
As it is I still have stuff waiting in the pipeline after the main set releases. It's hard for me to say there isn't enough product. Just seems like a ton of product on it's way.
maddragon: (a little more re Cap GF order) Enjoy! I'll be interested in any comments. I've yet to give them the next level of theoretical attention, which will be to figure out how best to assemble SHIELD, Hydra, Howling Commando, etc. teams using them and what we know of the main set.

Haven't you seen the movie Canadian Bacon? We think of you guys as the 51st state.

Nah not really, I was feeling really sick all day with a chill and fever.
I watched the ball game, as well. Jays were leading until Frank Francisco came in to close, and gave up 2 runs, putting the Phillies ahead, and the Jays couldn't come back. I don't know WHY they keep Francisco around, because this is at least the zillionth time he's blown a lead and caused a loss this season. Anyway, Ricky Romero got screwed out of the victory because Francisco sucks. Tomorrow, Roy Halladay makes his first return to Toronto since signing with the Phillies, and I'm expecting the Jays to lose, considering that Halladay is an awesome pitcher. I also expect them to lose Sunday when Cliff Lee is pitching for the Phillies. Both days, the Jays pitchers are pretty lousy (especially Sunday, when Jo-Jo Reyes is on the mound). Philly's pitching is excellent, and the Jays just don't have much of a chance. The only game they may have won was today, and Frank Francisco screwed that up.

Oh, yeah! I have four, separate orders outstanding with them, each hung up because one or more items in the bunch hasn't arrived yet. I'll dig out the file folder of the order printouts over the weekend, as one group will be shipping next week as it's the HoT FF that's the final item there; along with that (IIRC) will be the GL FF pack, I think the Brightest Day one (I hadn't felt a need to jump at that when it first came out) and some odds and ends singles.
After that, two of the orders will be coming at the same time, as I'd ordered the Cap GF case along with one of the main set, and then a few weeks later decided to order a second one. The remaining order is for September, a case of Superman.

Sorry to see you weren't feeling well -- I think it was you who mentioned it early in the day. Truthfully, I've been "one more night's sleep" away from recovery from this head cold... for over a week now.
As for the game, yeah, I really thought the Phillies were blowing it today -- for them it almost always comes down to whether or not their offense clicks. They rallied and surprised me with the win -- aside from a little of it I got to see while out at lunch (back when they evened it out 2:2, then fell behind by 2 again) but otherwise just caught it in bits on the radio once I got back to the lab.
