I guess you could say this about most figures, but he's only powerful on certain builds. 123 points for a figure with 10 AV, 2 Dmg, a soft defense, and some support powers is pretty reasonable.

He gets nasty when you spend another 30 points on Researchers and pair him with, let's say, SI Spider-Man or GF Klaw.

LOL, I think he was already pretty overpowered. And I'm not looking to pick any fights here, because I personally think that the most powerful psychic in the world SHOULD be a little overpowered. But in all honesty it didn't even occur to me to pair him with Superman. That's crazy-and-a-half.
Could we maybe please get a Negative Man figure, if it isn't too much trouble?

I would say no. Professor X is decent, but not overpowered.

I'd say he could stand to lose the whole "I can PB you using a character to whom you are adjacent" thing.

Oh no the Nightcrawler syndrome has risen again....along with Cosmic Spidy, Earth Superman, Thor/Loki, new Darkseid, Icon Supes, KC Supes, Nimrod....the list as well as the beat goes on & on & on & on.

I know!!!!, he is just another good figure to build around like so many others.
Yep, I have played him winning and being beaten and also yep, I have played against him both beating him and getting beat by him.

Good thread topic, let the banter rollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.

He's really annoying because another friendly piece is doing the move and he can do the attack so he's pretty much always going to get first strike. And because of his trait he never really has to move.

Very annoying figure and paired with 150 point Superman its a lot to deal with right off the bat.

He's not THAT bad. Annoying? Yes, Broken? No.

I have beaten teams with him and I have been stomped with teams using him. Just like any other figure, there are ways around him. The only time he really seems bad is when you don't anything on your force that can deal with him.
Alex Ross hates Kyle Rayner too.
I hope the Death's head sculpt is hideous and his dial is just as bad.

Also, in my experience, your first turn against a Professor X abuse team should be you racing down to your opponent's starting area.

That or, if you win map choice, pick Dr. Manhattan's lab.

Yes, Professor X is one of the most competitive figures in 400+ point games, on the same level as Metron, Nightcrawler, Bullseye, Superman R (150 points version), Flash WL and Cosmic Spider.
Not many teams will have it easy against a well built Xavier team. Team him up with NC and he gets crazy, and scientist theme is great as well. However, I don't think he is actually overpowered. Just high-powered, but not over. Nightcrawler defeats him easily, and depending on the map it is not that hard to defeat him...

He is just as he had to be: as powerful as an omega-level telepath should be, reasonably comic accurate, but not undefeatable or unfun to play against.

I find him completely comic accurate, and a joy to play with or against.

He is, in my opinion, unquestionably top tier. Possibly in the top ten figures in modern age, or at least close. One of the things that makes him the most frustrating is that between him and Nightcrawler, there's no obvious weakness. Stealth is good against Professor X, but Nightcrawler beats Stealth. The best work-around seems to be high defense, and hoping your opponent rolls badly isn't a great game plan in my book.

People say that he's best in high-point games, but I would say that he's better in lower point games where your opponent is less likely to have the resources to get to him quickly and be able to possibly throw a decent figure to shoot him down from in the middle of your opponent's team.
