Love me some Flash Gordon! But for faves, I have to with the first Spider-man. It updates the story well while still staying pretty close to it's roots. Then come Dark Knight: Joker and Harvey Dent were amazing!
From a pure quality film perspective, I'd say The Dark Knight is my favorite superhero movie. When it comes to pure action and fun, I'd have to go with The Incredible Hulk.
As much as I love 300 and Sin City, neither of these is a superhero movie. They are comic book movies, which is not the same thing. The argument could be made for Dick Tracy and Flash Gordon either way. Personally, I'd consider Flash to be a sci-fi action/adventure hero rather than a superhero.

That's a valid point, and one I didn't take in when reading the title of the thread.

I was thinking about this. Flash was around before superheroes, I believe. Because Mongo has lighter gravity than earth, he finds he has enhanced strength and speed there - i.e. superpowers! Flash Gordon - the real first superhero.
It seems like the guys who invented Superman just reversed the Flash Gordon origin.
"Those pigstickers may scare the bar room bullies, but to me you're a joke!" . . . Spider-Man to Wolverine
Not removing this until we get ROCKABILLY MODOK! ROCKABILLY MODOK! ROCKABILLY MODOK!

Flash Gordon (1934) was published before Superman (1938), but Siegel and Shuster created the character in 1932. It took a while before anyone would publish it. It could be that the popularity of Flash Gordon paved the way for Siegel and Shuster to be able to get Superman published, though.
1-Captain America (just captured the spirit of the character so well.
as earnest as it gets for a superhero flick...aside from Christopher Reeve's
first Superman turn)
2-Incredibles (best Fantastic Four film yet)
3-Dark Knight (best super hero/crime drama...plus of course Heath Ledger)
4-X-men 2 (despite Halle, a great version of the material with some great set
pieces and moments for fans driven by the story...Nightcrawler opening
/Wolvie fights /Colossus appearance )
5-Iron Man 1 (almost completely based on the perfect casting of Downey Jr as
Stark. He just carries the thing.)
...honorable mentions to Spidey 2, Batman Begins, Watchman and 'Norton Hulk'.

I'm going to go out on a limb, eschew the obvious favorites, and say that my favorite superhero movie is Super. Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page AND Kevin Bacon? I don't think anyone can watch this one and not at least put it on their top 5. SHUT UP CRIME!
