Borg vs Transformers
I was in a heated nerd debate with my friend over who would win: Transformers or Borg.

Now the rules are these:
-no Unicron
-the fight is a Borg cube (not individual drones) vs either a group of transformers or their 'Arc' ship.
-no cosmic level All Spark or any other such thing. Just normal tech vs tech.

Now I say the Borg would trounce the transformers. One Borg cube pretty much destroyed most of the federation fleet (any of the times they fight). I figure that the transformers energy weapons would last a minute or two before the Borg adapt and just ignore the attacks. Not to mention I'd say the Borg nanites could reprogram a transformers mind.

My friend states otherwise and is quite convinced the transformers would win hands down.

Please leave your opinions please!

The Transformers are not organic. I don't think the nanites would work on their minds. The Transformers could possibly be reprogrammed. They're just computerized automations anyways.
I'd say the Borg win.

The GoBots on the otherhand are a different matter altogether.

The better question is are Transformers made of a material that can be assimilated Species 8472 had cells that Borg nanoprobes could not assimilate and because the nanoprobes were ineffective The Borg could not adapt. But we saw The Borg gather information about the Enterprise without the need for assimilation because The Borg used their nanoprobes to search the Enterprises computer records. So I would imagine The Borg would send drones to Cybertron, use their Nanoprobes to learn information about the transformer society, and then having gained a huge tactical advantage convert the entire race into spare parts for the rest of the collective.

Depends on certain variables
The borg seem to be very good at adapting to energy based weapons but do not appear to have any kind of decent defense against physical trauma style weapons.

The borg also seem to struggle to assimilate machines... at least they struggled with data and lore. Now I realize this has less bearing because we are not talking drone to warrior combat, but it still bears mentioning because assimilating transformer technology into the collective mind would be a huge asset to the borg against the transformers. It is also important because I think it most likely that the decepticons in particular would attack as separate robots and not in a ship.

The transformers seem to be sentient and emotional on top of being mechanical/technological creations. Thus they may be resistant to simple reprogramming technologies, similar to an organic species, but not. They may have the best of both worlds for resisting the borg. But as the title of the post suggests it depends on how a particular writer interprets these variables.

I see this scenario playing out like this. A borg cube moves on cybertron to attack and assimilate the transformers into the hive. Numerous transformers take to space to engage the invaders. Given a sufficient supply of energon the transformers initial attacks will punish the borg cube extensively before it adapts to their energy weapons. Perhaps a full power blast from galvatron would cripple the borg before they adapt. However, let's assume that the borg cube does adapt before it is crippled. The borg will also be quickly targeting and blasting transformers all over the place. It really could go either way, but I think it is fair to assume that some transformers would close range on the cube and physically breech the hull. Once inside the transformers would be uninhibited by the drones inferior size, strength and speed and would decimate the borg vessel.

I could see rumble or frenzy getting on the cube and shaking it apart, or a boarding party of dinobots ripping their way inside easily and being basically impervious to the borg once on board.

That's how I see it.

Actually, I don't think the Borg would even bother. Transformers are pure machines without organic bits, and the Borg look to assimilate the organic bits.

I think Borg would adapt to the weapons very quickly but as it's been said, Borg don't seem to adapt to good ol' fashioned physical trauma. And Transformers use a lot of bullets, not just energy weapons. Also punching. With giant robot fists.

Now it comes down to if Transformers can be assimilated. If so, Borg wins no question. If not? Then I think the Transformers would inch out on top, albeit in a close fight.

I think the Borg would look scary and put up a decent fight, right up until Megatron put a great big hole in their cube with his fusion cannon. Then they'd adapt, sure - but they'd still have a great big hole in their cube. Which the Decepticons would quickly fill with Predaking, Abominus, Menasor, etc etc. I think Decepticon victory over the Borg would all but be assured. All Decepticons who had somehow been assimilated would then be put to death. Megatron will rule the Decepticons and no one else! All Hail Megatron!

I say Decepticons because I believe the Autobots would try to reason with the Borg, and lose hands down. Like, in under 5 minutes.

Then the borg take on the Sith and Jedi.
The Force is caused by bacteria, so it's not impossible.

Sounds like Picard. 5 minutes of trying to reason and he ended up becoming a borg.
Kirk would have fared better against the borg.
I can see Kirk's first encounter with the borg now, "Hey, I see a large cube flying this way. Checkov, fire photon torpedos. Uhura, open all federation channels, then get over here and give me a lap dance. I Said 'Uhura', Sulu, not you."
