The meta hasn't so much changed as shifted to WL Flash and Superman with the gauntlet.

Edit: That being said, good ####ing bye Metron/Nightcrawler.

No.
The tournament document gives a specific list of the modern age sets. That set is not listed among them.

You may not choose to make an attack roll when using the rules for destroying terrain.
Now the thing I learned about in HCO is gone

Love the ATAs.
Marvel Knights seems a bit expensive and Kryptonians seems a bit cheap, but otherwise it is a bunch of Win.

Set retirement: Unless I manage to get to Gencon or the IG events past July this does little to effect me or my venue's game play. We mix things up enough that it will not matter.

It is nice to see the Players Guide updated.

I love everything except for the fact that WoS Is getting the Ax plus HoT. So I finally get more GotG and then they remove The core team from MA play?!? Seriously. So I get a few months to play my favorite team in MA then poof they are gone! Damn you Wizkids! Also great job on the rules updates and all.
Check out ATF! in Berlin NJ. Heroclix every Sunday!

Well, most of the core GotG were in HoT, so retiring WoS really only takes out Groot.

Small consolation I'm sure, but it was probably a neccessary step to get Nightcrawler and Bullseye out of Modern Age. I can deal with 150 Supes even with the Gauntlet, he only has 1 click of HSS and has a 17DV. Plus his relatively low movement makes it easier to get him to use most of his movement to get to you. You will lose a figure for sure, but you'll at least have a chance to retaliate.

NC was just silly with his ability to rarely be attacked, then be near impossible to hit when you did get to attack him.
But I know a way, we can make you a warrior,
Even though now you're a wuss.

It's the way of the Platypus!

I'm surprised by WoS, I think it's a bit too soon to retire that one, but more importantly, I'm pissed about the Kryptonian ATA. With the retiring of NC and those other sets the gameplay is going to further shift towards superman style characters, big hss and super strength. We definitely DID NOT NEED a 2 pt +1 attack option on superman style characters. Other than that, everything looks good.

I'm sad at not being able to abuse magog / NC anymore too, but when GG comes out, Magog / 75 pt Dr. Strange + 10 pt MK ATA is the new hotness!

Notable rules changes:

"Mastermind damage cannot be dealt to any figure a second time" is now a core rule

All games between 400 and 1000 points are epic games

Horde Token stacks are always characters, can be formed by moving one token on top of another token, and stacks can't be carried

You cannot make an attack roll to destroy terrain (hoping for the +1 damage from a crit)

Walls are blocking terrain (no more wall-hacking for Master Chief)

New team ability wordings are official (most notable is Power Cosmic and Quintessence can use Willpower)

In Contact with Oracle only works with #085 Oracle now

Relics and Resources are codified

Wow, lots of folks peeved about Nightcrawler, er WoS getting the axe. I'm kinda surprised no one has mentioned Manhunter Grandmaster's trait being castrated now. Ouch! Anywho, I like what I read overall.

Wait, what?

EDIT:
Quote
#102 Manhunter Grandmaster
Leader of the Manhunters: After Manhunter Grandmaster resolves a non-free action, you may give any number of other friendly characters with the Robot keyword a free action to move 1 square. If those characters are also named Manhunter, they may move 3 squares instead.
I see nothing different here...

Yay! This is finally fixed. Not that it will have much impact on Modern Age. I think Beast Boy is the only one with team ability.

OUTSIDERS
Give a characters using the Outsiders team ability a free action to choose a character (including itself) within 10 squares and line of fire. Until the beginning of your next turn, the chosen character’s combat values can’t be modified. Uncopyable.
"Boo Hoo, Why doesn't(insert favorite character here) have (insert power here) like this new clix?"
