It ha started very, well. He is a very interesting character, love the anti hero undertones. I think they have guts to reboot him in such a way.. from tactile telekinetic , to one of the most powerful telekinetics in the DC universe...possibly and an overall latent psionic. Ver cool.
Hopefully it'll get back on track post-crossover. It's very easy for me nowadays to drop something that's not entertaining me. It didn't bode well for me that half a year's worth of enjoyable Superboy stories simply led into the week Culling story.
Really disappointed with Resurrection Man's cancellation. I have been enjoying that title thoroughly.
After dropping Grifter due to general mediocrity and impending Liefeld-ness, theres' not too much left of interest here for me.

They should have just brought John Stewart back into the spotlight.
Well, he at least co-stars (with Guy Gardner) in "Green Lantern Corps". And the current storyline seems to be focusing on him a lot.
But for me, THE John Stewart is the version from Mosaic, but he's been dead and buried for quite a while now (metaphorically speaking).

Legion Remakes Needed:
(1) Colossal Boy: Should be a flying giant (like Dragon Man)
(2) Brainiac 5: Needs an impenetrable force field
(3) Validus: Needs a correct sculpt and power level

Well I mean a more powerful spotlight. Like replacing Hal.
I find it kind of strange that DC keeps pushing Hal even though the only time Green Lantern was ever popular outside of comics is when it wasn't him...

Hal Jordan is the definitive Green Lantern for many generations. Even before the Dini-verse Justice League cartoon, Hal was a mainstay in the comics since the 1960's and cartoons pre-dating the Dini-verse cartoons.
I do believe John Stewart deserves more spotlight than he's currently getting. Guy gets JLI, Hal gets Justice League... even Kyle has the spotlight in New Guardians. John Stewart deserves to be in a team book at least.
Also, if you realize anything about DC, it's how they fail in utilizing their minority heroes. See Ryan Choi for reference.
Favorite DC read: Demon Knights
Only Marvel read: Avengers Arena POWER GIRL OR BUST!!! <-- This summarizes my thoughts on the release schedule.
They should have just brought John Stewart back into the spotlight. To people my age (25ish) who don't read comics, he's still THE Green Lantern, despite the recent movie. That Justice League cartoon was big, and DC is just letting one of their few popular non-white characters fade away. Why not use what you already have?
They also dropped the ball with Static.
Funny how 10 years (or even just 3 or 4 years) makes a difference...I just turned 37 and while I have nothing against John Stewart, he's not that interesting to me. I prefer Hal and Kyle...really like Kyle, who became Lantern when I was about 18 or 19 I think....
Just like a guy a few years younger than me at work is a big Battlestar Galactica fan and I had to tell him in the original series Starbuck and Boomer weren't cute girls and he was like "What? Really?"
The Sinestro rivalry doesn't work nearly as well with any Lantern other than Hal. Truth be told, Sinestro is as strong a factor for the success of the GL books in recent years as anything else. The Rebirth relaunch did fine, but the buzz got rolling with Sinestro Corps War.
I do think there could be an opportunity to do something along the lines of a John Stewart: Year One, just to flesh out his background beyond what the average reader knows about him (Xanshi destruction, JLA sub).
I was going cold on the main Green Lantern book. I enjoyed the Indigo Tribe storyline because of all the reveals and twists, I didn't think is was actually written that amazing. The last 2 or 3 panels had me actually saying "wow..."
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
I can't figure what Sinestros tipping point is going to be or what he is even up to. After listening to Hal when he said "fear is not the answer this time!" and Hal getting Iroque to let him go. Hmmm.

I actually believe it was the flash of insight that Hal is more intelligent when it comes to his instincts and morals than Sinestro. The immediate action I'd reference is when Sinestro tells him "I don't need your help" and Hal just comes back with "Then why did you bring me here?".

I think a *lot* of characters could use a look again at their histories, especially in the wake of the nu52. For example, John Stewart married Katma Tui, who was killed by Star Sapphire. You know, Carol Ferris. And yet, when the GLs have teamed up with Carol lately, there's never been any "Hey, you killed my wife" issues. Of course, back pre-Return of Hal, "Star Sapphire" was an alternate personality who was "killed", but I don't think that works in the modern retelling of Carol Ferris' story.
But there's a lot of Earth-GL history that could use examination. For example, Hal was the main Green Lantern, having joined the Justice League five years ago (when superheroes started). And then, Hal was replaced by John Stewart on a "permanent" basis.
And then, because of the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths (which never happened), some Guardians made Guy Gardner a Green Lantern (so why did they do it in the DCnu?). And then because the Guardians ran off with the Zamarons (which they never did in the post-Return of Hal universe, right?), a bunch of GLs were stationed on Earth (so were they not?). And because they were (or weren't?) stationed on Earth, John and Katma fell in love and got married. And then, after executing Sinestro, the Corps was destroyed (but only for the first of many times).
And then John allowed Xanshi (a world of yellow bird people... and Fatality) to be destroyed during Cosmic Odyssey. So Cosmic Odyssey had to happen, but it couldn't in the nu52.
And then John was posted to Oa (aka the Mosaic world) and had to defend the actions of the Guardians to Earth's heroes, such as Justice League Europe (who therefore had to exist, but never did). And John became a Guardian of the Universe. That happened, right?
And then Hal became (was possessed by) Parallax and killed the newly revived Corps and a newly revived Sinestro. And because of Hal's actions, Kyle became the only Green Lantern ever. So, this *had* to happen or else Kyle would never have been a GL (just like Crisis *had* to happen for Guy to be an active Green Lantern).
And then Kyle blew up Oa in order to try to kill Hal (ha ha, he failed!). And so, John Stewart became pointless again. Did John Stewart actually become a Darkstar in the nu52? Probably not. He probably didn't team up with Donna Troy, fellow Darkstar.
And then Kyle tried to create a new Green Lantern Corps (ha ha, he failed!). Oh, and Kyle was dating Donna Troy (who never existed) and Jade (who never existed).
And then Hal died during Zero Hour and then again during Final Night, neither of which happened.
And then Hal became the Spectre, who never existed. And because Hal was Spectre, he was able to be brought back to life. But since there's never been a Spectre, Hal couldn't've been the Spectre, so he couldn't've come back to life, but maybe he never died?
And then the Corps came back and the Guardians came back and Sinestro came back. And all of that in under five years.
I don't know, it's all a mess.

Well, I don't really like John Stewart either (He's pretty boring for a guy who has a ring that can make anything he can imagine...). I was just saying that he's by far the most popular Green Lantern for people who don't actually read comics, but would be in the right demographic to start. Hal just hasn't been working out with the general public, despite a flashy, expensive movie and a cartoon show.
Hey, yeah... Whatever happened to him? I read a few issues of that series and it was super fun.
They killed him off. But that was in the old continuity. From what I hear, he's going to be the Atom (the only Atom?) in the DCnu.
