Ultimate Spider-Man
Who else is looking forward to this as much as I am?

It looks to tie in with Avengers that airs right afterwards so it has that in it's favor. Plus, I've been looking for a great Spider-Man cartoon since they foolishly cancelled Spectacular Spider-Man just a couple years ago.

Honestly . . . I doubt it will be as good as Spectacular Spider-Man.

But I'll give it a try, just like The Batman and Young Justice.
Eh . . .

I like it. It is definitely different than Spectacular, has a lot more humor in it. Not quite the campy humor of Batman: BatB.

Interesting point on the supporting team members. I'll need to read up on recent Nova as that bit at the end threw me.

Watching the first two episodes now. Some initial notes:

-I don't like the lack of theme song.
-Norman Osborn has about as much subtlety as a train wreck.
-Doc Ock as shadowy super-criminal. I can dig it.
-Aunt May as a kooky old lady. Ugh.
-Curt Conners has two arms. I don't like that he has two arms.
-Nick Fury is basically the same. I can dig it.
-The comedy will grow on me. I have gotten a chuckle now and then.
-I like the superhero supporting cast. Interesting mix of characters.
-The Spider-Cycle seems like a neat toy to buy.
-I really, really miss Spectacular Spider-Man.

Are the episodes available online?

I let this go as it's the "Ultimate" version.

Triple check. This was annoying. I do see him losing it in an upcoming episode which would prompt researching the lizard. So that may work.

Which is where the classic theme song would be the perfect opener.

I saw Nova and was about to think New Warriors.

It's all about the merchandising.

Did these come on in the morning? I'm showing a 7 PM (Central) airing of the first two episodes on Disney XD followed by the Avengers.

I found the first episode here.

Haven't seen the second episode yet.

I think it's going to be decent.......but it's not going to be as good as Spectacular Spiderman.

Watching it now, and the Peter Parker "Zack Morris" moments where he talks to the audience amuse me.

They've got Paul Dini as a writer/consulter on this show, and that's always a great thing.

I'll definitely keep wagging this series if they continue to include the lesser known people like the Frightful Four members in the first episode.

They seemed to have borrowed the chibi animation deal from the Teen Titans series, but it works when used.

The thought processes getting animated, such as Wizard picturing the lunch lady as Spider-man or the SHIELD Wall of Shame, were great.

Just got done watching episodes one and two. It was... okay. I never watched Spectacular Spider-Man, so I'm not going to be one of the people comparing this to that. Heck, last Spider-Man cartoon I watched was the short-lived MTV one.

I like that this is much lighter fare, but it seemed like it was trying WAY too hard at times.

Yeah, we don't talk about the MTV version.

I think they were going for a mix between Teen Titans but not quite as campy as Batman: BatB, thus the Spider Cycle and such.

You really should check out Spectacular if you get the chance.

I like it. It's not at all what I was expecting originally (being a huge fan of the Ultimate Spider-Man comic), but it's still quite good. Having just watched the Ultimate Avengers movie last week, I couldn't help but notice that they used the same voice actor for Nick Fury. Good movie, there. Agent Coleson is clearly a sound-a-like, though. Surprised they couldn't get the original actor at a reasonable price.

This format looks like a good way to introduce other Marvel Universe characters to a wide audience. Powerman & Iron Fist is a good start. Not too sure about White Tiger and Nova, though. Time will tell.
