IG Month 5 Fantastic Four Theme Team
So the month 5 rules are 700 point teams with 400 points floored from either IH or GG, with the remaining figs being modern age. The team I'm planning on running is:

GG Thing 140
GG Ironman LE 150
GG Chase Mr. Fantastic 110
GG Dr. Doom 169
IH Wolverine 70
SI Spiderman 50

Total = 689 (Basically leaves 10 points of fodder)

Any thoughts/suggestions/opinions/criticisms? I'm really leaning toward this team, as I don't have any of the other What If Fantastic Four from GG yet.

EDIT

And now that the Newer Fantastic Four ATA has been announced:

Newer Fantastic Four ATA +6
Gamma Bomb +5

New total = 700

I like that Iron Man, but I find him to be incredibly situational. Do you stand a good chance of going up against colossals?

i was thinking the same thing when I saw the new Fantastic Four ata. Probably gonna see a lot of Ziran and Galactus, but I don't know about the Iron Man either. I have him and considered running him, but I find myself hard pressed to play him over invisible woman with her support and second click Penetrating Blast.

I think the trait would come in usefull, but the chances of getting to do anything good with it would be surprising in my opinion.

A. If they run Ziran, you could MC and have them take a muti-attack to attack their fodder, or you could walk them out of range. I just don't think this is such a big deal.

B. If they run Galactus, you MC and have Galactus take a shot at their herald. Probably the best scenario imo, but I think we'll see more Ziran than Galactus at my local places.

I'm testing my FF team later today, I'll drop a line as to how it goes.

You may want to have a look at Ziran, and Galactus again as both of them cannot be the target of MC.

Fact (when they're played at 600+ points). And one that pretty much makes the LE Iron Man worthless. I'm a firm believer that Wizkids made this LE to be a silver bullet when it comes to removing Galactus's herald but dropped the ball when wording Iron Man's trait. It should have had the words "regardless of if a character cannot be the target of mind control..." and then go on from there. I guess they thought that people would prefer to play the other lower point colossals over Galactus and Ziran when they made the IG tournament 700 points.

you know this thought occured to me the release night when I got the Iron Man. Yeah, thats not gonna work out for anyone. It is a shame its 400 points from gg or hulk, I had a great idea that was 40-50 points short of working out.

To answer most of the questions in one shot: No colossal figures allowed.

I do expect a lot of flying/cosmic power houses though, which was the initial reason why I put Ironman on the team. That and I needed a taxi. A 19 defense, indom, decent attack (especially with the ATA/perplex/theme probs) and decent range seemed OK for 150 points. And honestly, he's more of a secondary attacker.

- EDIT -

I forgot, I also added Ironman for another team ability to activate Wolverine's +1 attack (I know Doom/Spidey/Fantastic Four already trigger this, but the trait only lasts as long as the three teams are out there. If I have 4 they might just target Wolverine first)

Also, I DO expect Stranger to make an appearance. If nothing else, it either prevents him from using his colossal stamina pushing or gives me a chance to use his trait.

- /EDIT -

As for the other questions, I don't have the SR Fantastic Four pieces from either IH or CA, so it kind of limits my choices.

GG: Dr. Doom 169
IH: Wolverine 70
CA: Invisible Woman 120
GSX: Storm 86
SI: Mr. Fantastic 100
SI: The Thing 100
SI: Spiderman 50
Newer Fantastic Four AtA 7
Gem of Cytorak 5&
697 Total

You have double TK from Storm and Sue, also a prob and shared ES/D if needed from Sue, and the two offer good ranged support. Dr. Doom brings outwit upfront, gets prob and also offers solid ranged support. Mr. Fantastic can give a double perplex to whatever it is needed on and offers outwit later in his dial. The Thing can be TK'd into the fray and clobber, aswell as wolvy, who's packing exploit weakness, can have tokens removed via things leadership, and his trait will process thanks to doom, storm, spidey, and any other so long as 2 of those 3 stay up. Also spidey can have tokens removed aswell, offers decent tie up, and incap. With the. Newer Fantastic. Four AtA giving a possible, and likely bumpy to AV's, should be clobbering faces often. Wolvy will have a possible 13 attack, with ata and trait, Reed plexes his dmg by 2, that's 5 penetrating, plus a TK paired with his lunge to get him there. Prob to make it stick. Just one of the many options this team offers. A virtual Swiss army knife of a team. I'd try to get wolvy to get the gem if u can. Charge+ lunge, SS,full dial toughness,+1 dmg, EW..its the wolvy IV been wanting.

Anyways, that's my idea,suggestions.

That is a really good team; and I really like how there's not a gauntlet on it either

Only problem is don't have GSX Storm, CA Invisible Woman, or the Gem of Cytorak...yet (Good excuse to boost my collection though )

Thankfully I have until the 5th to build this team correctly.

- Edit -

Now that I look at it though, it doesn't have the 400 from GG/IH :/

I suppose could take out Sue and storm for She hulk from fast forces, great piece for the points, and Mr fantastic. Personally don't like losing both tkers, prob, and ranged support :/ gunna have ta use that team next chance. I however am being a douche and intend to use big g with a gauntlet, some support and lamp post bats as my herald ( I really want the runner,LOL)

lol, If I could run colossal figures, this would be a very different team

Either way, good luck to you sir - Big G with a gauntlet, lamp post bats for a herald, and the Atom for Support would probably wreck face.

I tried out FF with the New AtA for this tourney.

SI Mr. Fantastic (starter)
GG Mr. Fantastic (Chase)
CA Invisible Woman
GG Dr. Doom + Gauntlet with Soul, Time, and Power
GG Lyja the Lazerfist x2
New FF ATA 6 points.

Came to 680. Can't do specific costs. I enjoyed running it, though Ziran crushed it. I did avoid one of his tests, but the other two nearly clocked invisible woman out of the gate. Still I was able to mount an offense against him thanks to doom and all the perplex (not to mention the ATA) I had fielded. I like this team, and if there are no collosals in your game it isn't half bad.

Something I might try out:
Dr Doom 169
Thing 140
Ghost Rider 125
She-Hulk 105
Wolverine 70
Storm 86
695 points if my calculations are correct. Enough room for a Gamma bomb somewhere.
