I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but I haven't found a figure that I feel very passionate about... until now.
For the next undetermined amount of time, I am going to play Mistress Death in every applicable game format.
Why?
Besides the fact that I think she's just wicked cool, I think the biggest reason is that she really isn't playable. I want to find her strengths and how to win with this figure. Plus... I think there's a bit of a challenge here to play a figure that... well... isn't really that good. Or is she??
I have to say, I really underestimated her potential. After a pretty good win streak, I've found out that she can really hold her own in a battle.
Her biggest strength is definitely her ability to shoot through friendly characters. Having your friends tie up opposing characters so she can shoot them without penalty is really good. Her high attack value coupled with Psychic blast is incredibly potent, especially when paired with enhancement brought by her best friend Glen Talbot.
Map choice is a big factor, but she's still playable on random maps, even indoor maps. Like I said, her 13 range is great, but the fact that she can shoot through friendlies is really powerful.
My advice is to play her defensively. That doesn't mean you have to turtle, just let her sit in the back and let your friends to the grunt work. Which reminds me; she needs friends. I don't think she's well equipped to play 300 points.
If you're playing a 500 point game, she could KO the entire opposing team. It's happened a few times. Even against cheese.
Bottom line: I'm really happy about the figure. Takes a bit of getting used to, but she is definitely good at what she does.

Just got done playing my first game with MD. Pretty freakin' sweet.
Hulk acted as the body guard to keep figures from getting too close to death. He did a pretty good job... until he died, lol.
Hulk only hit Xavin (one hit KO). Mistress Death really pulled her weight by taking out 100% of the other dials (with help from her enhancement friends ).
Overall, I'm pretty happy about it. The map (daily planet) really helped her see my opponents. She got based late game, which was scary, but I was able to break away leaving my mastermind fodder behind to tie up. She took her shots and won the game.
I'll wait for a few more games to say if I think she's very playable.

Kinda similar to the last game; Hercules didn't do any damage but took a huge amount of damage. Served his purpose. Amadeus Cho's outwit helped a lot once Mistress Death got based.
Didn't go how I thought it would... I won... I got pretty lucky because I shot out a wall that Supes was hiding behind and pegged him for 4 penetrating damage right away, knocking him off his HSS. After that is was all about my small dudes tying up the opposition. Mistress death did all the damage, stealing all their souls.
Again, outwit really helps mitigate her weaknesses. It would be interesting to see how she does against a Power Cosmic character that bases her... with damage reducers... Probably wouldn't go well.
Good choice for a ko list figure, i recently played her in a 600pt golden age cosmic team with Gardener plus time gem, ruling caste dominator, and dominator x3. I moved into position the 1st turn and never moved again. 15 range, 6 damage PB, with gardener providing a wall of stealth and poison if u try to base her..on the garden map, i nicknamed Garden of Death!

Yes, I like how she dominates on the right map. The problem is that on some maps she doesn't do as well...
Unless you have the right build. I mean, just out of the three games I've seen, it's been really helpful to have tie-up close combat figures to keep them distracted while you pelt them at range. It doesn't exploit her 13 range as much, but I find that the ability to shoot through friendlies is another really good strong point she has.
Poison is a great idea, and the dominators are just asking to go with death. Thanks for your ideas.

I want to say that this had some interesting points to it, but it didn't. We played on the bridge map, so pretty much my first turn (going second) I started shooting people with Mistress Death. Her friends went out and tied up and Death racked up the KO's. It was pretty one sided.

Because I won map roll and picked the bridge map, I definitely had the map control advantage. The game played like you'd expect: I shot out mastermind fodder with Death and killed people that based with her friends. After a few turns, the opposing team was taken out.
I think this could have definitely gone differently if Darkseid decided to just camp on a building until he landed on option 2 or 3 for the gauntlet. I mean, I still would have had massive board control, but having to deal with HSS would have eventually done me in, I think.
The thing is, though, is that my play group won't play like that. Camping/turtling isn't really in our natures, so I feel I've been taking advantage of Death's come-at-me-bro play-style. I would, however, want to be prepared for a team that will just sit back and turn that dial all the way to 20, then come at me.
So what's the way to counter this? I'm actually wondering if anyone following this thread has any ideas. I figure the best way to do it would be to have Death wear a gauntlet of her own. If people sit back and count up the dials, then hey, me too. But I don't like that mentality. But what option do I have? I can't get to them fast enough to do anything, especially if, say in this example, they sit in a spot that I really can't get to, such as the roof top on the opposite side of the map.
Anyway, so far I really think Mistress Death has a lot of potential. The huge range and the ability to see through friendlies really makes her mean, mean, mean. I will have to play her in lower point games, such as 300 and 400 to really see how well she does, but until then, I'm pretty satisfied to say that she's impressing me with her undefeated streak.
