Ep. 103: With Special Guest Seth Johnson. *Find out the Secrets!
Special Guest Seth Johnson of Wizkids Fame!
This week Steve and Gudda have Seth Johnson on the show. He has worked on lots of Heroclix stuff and some other games you may know. Great cast and a great guy! Thanks Seth! ............ .........*The Only Secret is Seth Sculpted a Heroclix once.
As promised during the podcast, I've put together a photo album over on my Facebook page that includes pictures of those games my mom made, games I made as a kid, some behind-the-scenes stuff from WizKids, and more.
*follows Seth on Twitter; continues listening to podcast*
EDIT: For the record, I'm happy to be reffered to as either my real name or as Cassius. No idea why Twitter decided to emphasise real names over the @handles, but that's their issue...
EDIT2: Discworld is indeed awesome.
Ah, the perils of hurrying. I actually meant "Why does Outwit/Perplex have such a LONG range". 10 range is quite a lot, especially given Outwits ability to cut through so much. Something like Mind Control's range (or reducing the range to 5) might reign it in a bit.
EDIT3: (might as well keep numbering these): It's a pity Toonclix went down. If it ever comes back, I'd assume it'd be one license at a time, to avoid the same problem.
EDIT4: "We'll get everyone in it eventually" is good to hear...

Heroclix named Katana are surprisingly easy to decapitate...
Steve, Gudda, Seth. The best podcast every! Great job guys. Very enjoyable... Seth I can't express how MUCH I enjoyed this podcast! Keep up the good work! I know Ohio isn't all that appealing but Swing the R.V. into Bowling Green. You can park in my yard(1/2 acre). As long as you sign my mirror master!!! If I can bribe you my family has a 200 plus acre's tree farm in "Hocking Hills" about 30/45 min away from Origins... Beautiful landscape...Google "old mans cave"...

I have a bunch of those West End Games Star Wars RPG books, they're awesome.
Enjoyed his Origin dial design and thought that was a high point for the game (GSX/DC75 flirting with it at times). Thanks for the Origin Sandman/Hawkman/Shazam/Wildcats/Mister Miracles they've provided hours of entertainment !
Great questions throughout this interview.
I loved Doomtown CCG which was a great story/offshoot of Deadlands.
What do you think about how quickly the Infinity Gauntlet has taken over and changed HeroClix? Just so I am clear, it's not just the meta game that has been affected. Unless the scenario expressly forbids it, you can expect to see at least one Gauntlet played every night at your local venue.
Is it like handing everybody a nuclear bomb, and is that okay as long as everyone has one? To my way of thinking, it should have been 40 points plus the cost of the gems. IMO, it's just too powerful for the cost. I am curious as to what you think.
Good interview and Seth is always interesting to listen to. Very "thoughtful".
RE: HSS "problem" Gudda implies -> the issue is simply there is no counter to it other than Outwit (which counters everything).
Every power should have a counter besides Outwit whether its being based / positioning, Team Abilities, other powers, etc - some other effect.
Pretty much, Phasing/Teleport, Pulse-Wave, Leap/Climb and HSS are the only powers that an opponent can do little to "stop" its use other than Outwitting it. Pulse-Wave drives you close to the target. P/T & L/C aren't attacks (L/C can be, though). This is why there aren't as many complaints about these powers.
Anyway, again, fun and interesting listen. Nice job.
Great episode! I'm glad Seth mentioned the idea of public domain characters. I would love to see sets like that, although I suppose they wouldn't have the draw of licensed DC and Marvel sets.
It's been suggested in a past thread that WizKids could just release packs of generic zombies for Heroclix and people would buy them. I certainly would.
That was so awesome that you had Seth on the Podcast. I loved hearing about how he got started and that he is such a comic.
I was hoping to hear a few spoilers about upcoming sets. Maybe some characters or licenses.
How come they haven't made a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle set?
Will we see the Borg?
Will any of the upcoming sets be released in the big box stores? Dark Knight?
