Alright, we all know the Infinity Gauntlet is extremely powerful, to the point of being potentially game breaking. My question goes out to all judges, and it goes like this;
What are the rules pertaining to the Gauntlet at your venue?
To expand a bit, do you restrict its use in any way? Reduce its capabilities? Limit the effects of Apotheosis Approaching and Godhood Attained unless there are enough gems on it? Share!
I usually ask my players to limit their use of it altogether in tournaments, but don't outright ban its usage. Think of it as "discouraged."
For the actual Infinity Gauntlet events though, I remove any implications of non-use. The tournaments focus around the Gauntlet, and so it seems silly to restrict its use.
"The future is not fixed, and my choices are my own... and yet, how ironic! For I now find, I have no choice at all! I am warrior... let the battle be joined." Dinobot
I haven't yet but I'm thinking about it because it seems like you have to play it if you want to win and it seems like most games come down to the figure on both teams with the Gauntlet attacking each other long after every other figure has been KOed.
I haven't limited it. I haven't heard any major complaints from my players about it. From the games I've watched draw close to time, the Gauntlet wearer was either already KO'd, or hit "1" on the Gauntlet most of the time. The Gauntlet has yet to turn the tide in a dramatic fashion in any game at my venue. This could change, however.

I've banned the Infinity Gauntlet (as well as LotR Epic actions and Horde tokens) from most events.
Note that the venue I judge at is not running Infinity Gauntlet events.
Pretty much every other HeroClix brand game piece is allowed almost every week (including LotR, GoW3, Halo, Star Trek, feats) although we typically play without Battlefield Conditions and Colossal figures.
I have competitive players and newer players "In training" to become competitive, and I think they all desire to play without "training wheels" if you'll excuse the analogy.
We don't get to play as many constructed events as some venues, but when we do, I like to let players bring out the big guns. The Inifinity Gauntlet is one of those.
despite player complaints on the interwebz, I look at the results after events with Gauntlets and colossals, and even when people will comment on how powerful they were in the event, players using "gamebreaking" elements will rank all over the place, from first all the way down to last.
what I take away from it is this: You can play the big game breaking pieces or not, but it still always comes down to two things:
Locally we have it on and off. Judge listens to the group, and we reach a consensus on if we want the gauntlet that week. Interest is dying off now, and I've reached a point where only a few pieces with it interest me and more for the 40 point will power, unoutwittable aspect.
The Gauntlet around here has moved from hiding in a corner to figures moving up, and sometimes making it to 2. If they make it to 2, most people take them down before the power selections are accessed.

We do? Thats a big assumption. And you know what they say about assuming anything....
Neither of the venues where I play limit it at all. It is limited in that you can only play one per force, and no special objects. Not t mention, no powers are guaranteed, and you have to wait for the good stuff at the end. If you take out the guy with the gauntlet before he gets to the special powers, you take the gauntlet away.
Why do we need to limit/ban stuff again??

At the venue where I am the judge, we run only occasional events (one big tourney for every booster release) and we have no limited the gauntlet there yet.
At the venue where I play or occasionally help judge, there is no official limitation in place, but the tournament format may not allow for the gauntlet sometimes.
Egads...the gauntlet again......sigh. Just roll the gd dice and have a bloody good time talking smack to and with the guys on game night. Its what this is really all about!
I run scenarios and build restrictions all the time. So sometimes I will have 0 limits. Other times I'll add restrictions like " if you use the gauntlet you can't use any Feats or BFCs or another time it might be "no figures over 125 points can have the gauntlet assigned to it" or things like that.
Complaints about any HeroClix element comes from two types of venues, those that have sucky judges or those with whiny players because everything can be modified, improved, and varied as a venue needs.
