I'm may be forced to house rule this IG abuse I keep seeing. I've never banned or restricted anything that wasnt officially done but it's overwhelming the gaming community in a negative way and disrupting the integrity of the game in my opinion.

What I mean is that in order to level the playing field you HAVE to play it because of its incredible ROI for its cost. Its like an arms race, and like an arms race, no one is really gonna win in the end.

I think the only thing that needs to be errata'd is that the IG can not be assigned to colossals since they can keep pushing and pushing. Then they power up and regen off the damage...flipping ridiculous. Its the same reason the you cant assign them Shellhead so it should hold water and have some merit IF the powers that be decide to do anything about their half assed release of a poorly playtested mechanic like this.

This thing should of cost more or had some restrictions.

My personal opinion says you'd need all six gems to reach Godhood, as well. That seems much more in line with storyline accuracy, to me.

Even so, I fear we're headed for GauntletClix... not in a chicken-little way, but more in a Germany-in-the-1930's way.

Seems reasonable to me. I've heard of Deadpool Wildcarding Reavers ATA to power it up, and that's pretty effective (but it requires more setup)

Colossals should not be able to use the Gauntlet. I may enforce this at my venue if I see it abused.

Just because you guys have been unable to beat it does not mean it should be banned. Just think outside of the box and u should be able to beat it.

Oh Ive beaten it, on a Galactus even. Gladiator punched his face in a couple of times and it was game. In 400 you are seriously challenged however. Larger point games allow the support to let the collosal power it up too fast and without penalty wherein lies the problem.

It doesnt need to be banned, its needs to be balanced.

Its the reason why Shellhead is the only feat you cant put on them so they dont stay at a +2 defense the entire game for 10 points.

Intent of its use and application are two very different things at this point.

Colossals can use shellhead. Indomitable figures cant.

I agree with needing all 6 gems makes sense, but really you are going to compare a toy in a superhero game to the nazis? Thats not just a little too far?

As for abusing it with colossals, I have run it with Giganto. That is def not abuse. But its fun. And he really needs it. But it doesnt make him that hard to beat.

You can charge up any character in hurry with Edward Nigma or Masters of Evil with a good support character. I have done both... Now people are running to ebay in my group to buy Edward Nigma... I guess imiatation is the purest form of flattery.

By the way the gauntlet on Dr Manhattan is insanely evil... had to face three of them last night... ARGH!!! Nothing worse than a 16 attack and 22 nine damage and then you hear I choose hypersonic with a range of 18 and 3 targets... ugly... ugly.

I recently defeated an opponent who was playing Galactus with 3 gem IG and Nightcrawler as the herald. This leads me to believe that the Gauntlet is awesome just the way it is.

In case any one is wondering if set player was seriously under-skilled I would like to vouch that set player is a well rounded threat using any constructed team, at any point level.

the problem is that it still limits team building. that's 15-40 points that a person might want to spend on mary jane or something.

What you SHOULD do if you are going to make the gauntlet mandatory is make it cost 0 points, +0 for each gem.

We did this at a tournament once. Well technical the build was 640 points(pre-GG) but you could use the 'full' 40 point gauntlet.
It was a fun enough game.

That way everyone has the gauntlet, but it does not stifle creative team building.

Also if you check the golden age player's guide Shellhead cannot be used on colossals.

yes its true, colossal figures can use shellhead. The only reason that the old Galactus era colossals cannot use shellhead is because their rules specifically say that they can't be assigned feat cards. Nothing prevents that on the newer colossal figures except that feat cards are no longer in circulation, so in a modern format it is a non issue.

I couldn't be more sick of seeing this post. IG can be beaten, no one is saying it can't what they are saying is that people are sick and tired of seeing it. Read the posts.

Here s a solution that could solve the problem(OR make the game worse???). Errata the Outsider TA to be copyable and Let the Wildcard Abuse carnage age to begin! Heck if you got a problem with guys running multiple perplexers(AIM anyone?), it'll solve that, too. The flipside, its uncopyable for a reason.....what kind of Hell could such errata unleash?

It's a balanced object. Not because it's not amazing for the points, it is, but anyone can use it. I've seen the argument that people don't want to, but then it's their fault. If you're not playing competitively, then do the rules really need to change so that you can with your same play-style?

Just change up your scenerios sometimes the ig is ok sometimes other times not. Like modern,silver, golden. Have the tournament requirments change to keep it fresh problem solved.
