Wow. His 350 point defensive power is awesome. The battlefield promotion is GREAT, you can bump him up to the top of his 350 point dial???? Just wow.
Well, yeah... if you hit at least twice and get a 6 on his promotion roll. Or more than twice, without getting hit, depending on how you want to play your odds.
Something tells me no opponent is going to sit there and let Brainiac try to upgrade uncontested.
For that matter... do you really want to have him at the top of his dial? I'd think promoting him to that #2 click would be better...

Brainiac looks amazing and I definitely want him, but I wish we could finish the previews for the stuff coming out in June and July first still want to figure out how much Chaos Wars to get.
QFT. X-Men Fast Forces stuff has not been previewed and there is still Dark Knight and Chaos Wars stuff that can be shown, BUT I am glad to see how/what they are going to do with this stuff. Brainiac looks really great in both versions, and I am excited to see this at any rate.
Logan:I'm an X-Man and on 2 Avengers teams.
Mockingbird:How the hell do you do that?
Logan: Multitasking. Its my mutant power. Dont tell anyone.
The only really disappointing thing is seeing 012 Brainiac as an uncommon. The battlefield promotion mechanic on half the set is going to make the various rarities even more annoying than normal.
Can we please have equal rarity with these smaller sets?
Both of those are great. This is a much better battlefield promotion mechanic than was in BatB.
I really like the "golden age" dial with no special powers.
I'm not seeing where your 160 turns into 350, though. When you promote, you look at the blue starting line, which is the 175 point. Still great, but not an extra 190 points great.
Because the first part, needing an 8 or more, puts you the same number of clicks from the blue line. Roll 10 or more and you put them on the same click number. Nothing about lines in that part. Make the hits, roll above a 10 and suddenly you are on 350 point Brainiac's top click.
Now...let's say you promote into big Brainiac 3 clicks past the blue line. Can you now heal him all the way to click 1? There doesn't seem to be any wording against that.

When you roll for promotion, if your total is 10 or higher, you replace Braniac with the modern Brainiac on the same click number. If your golden age Brainiac is on clicks 1-4 when this happens, you will get at least part of his 350 pt dial. If you can manage to keep him on click 1, you will get the full 350 pt version.
However, your golden age Brainiac will need to hit a few opposing figures in order to pull this off. You don't have to roll for promotion, but if you do you MUST promote him based on your roll. Have 4 tokens and need a 6 to get 10 (which gives you the 350 pt version) but you roll a 4, then you are stuck with the 175 pt version.

I believe it is implied his blue line is his starting line. I would expect a clarification or ruling for this.

Since you're most likely going to promote him after 3-4 rounds, that 2nd click is your best bet, if you can get a 10 on the roll. Glossed over the "a d6" part of the rolling....bummer. Still going to be nice if you can manage it!

It says "On a result of 10 or higher, replace this character on the same click number."
If #005 Brainy is on click number 1 and you roll a 10 for promotion, he goes to #012 Brainy click number 1 = 350 point top dial

I guess I was the one reading wrong. I read it as roll over 10, don't change at all. I liked him before, but this just made him even better.
