New Points for Old Clix
I have been collecting Clix on and off since the very beginning and I have a large collection. While I have some sets more complete than others, I have a little of everything from Infinity Challenge to Galactic Guardians. I recently got my home game going again and we have been mixing Modern and Golden Age Clix. Now I know many on here would advise against this but I enjoy playing with many of the old Clix and we create large standing armies needed many Clix. Currently we give the Golden Age Clix a 10% discount from their point totals compared to newer ones. Not surprisingly, these Clix don't stand up to newer ones.

Finally my question: Is it feasible to change the point totals of Golden Age much lower to compete with newer clix? I have looked at Dial generators but they return the same values currently on the Clix. The example I have done so far is comparing Supernova Graviton to Capn America Crimson Dynamo. These clix have similar dials but Graviton costs 178 while CDynamo only costs 146. Do you think we can have balanced battles if Graviton only costs 146 like CDyanamo?

Thank you for reading this far. I read this site often, love the discussions, and units section is awesome!

You can't just take off 10% of the points off Golden Clix across the board,
you have to do it on a case by case basis.

Some of them should have no points taken off,
and some of them should have 50% taken off.

You and your play group will have to figure out what is fair for you.
Colossals should Carry, and Punch 2 squares away.
Tweak Mind Control and Smoke Cloud.
Battle Fury should allow you to throw objects.

Unfortunately most of the old sets are frontloaded, and after their first punch, their defenses turn them into babies to the new modern sets.

In a freindly game, you could say that for those that have been remade in modern sets that the old pieces never drop their defense below the lowest defense value of their modern version. (For some you may need to do it to their attack values). Matter of fact, for old sets, you may need a "Lowest value from modern remake!" rule for just about all of their values as very few of them as you have stated have much chance against modern day clix.

You could also use the Star powers (from the newer cards) on the old sets to make them more interesting. You could experiment with trying to use their special powers (again from the cards of the newer remakes) for whenever they have slots without any other powers on it (blank/white), although for some, that would be a lot of slots.

If you are having fun, go for it. 10% pre-carded figures is a bit better.

All I know is that I"d be happy to pay 226 for Vet-Icons Supes plus full gauntlet plus 3 rookie con artists and still have 4 points left over for a feat or such in a 300 point game.

Sounds GREAT to me
Not so great to the person I'm playing against.

I think you are on to something, Prekrap! If someone had time on their hands, or ideally if Wiz Kids could do it, make UPGRADE CARDS for the older peices (Yeah, I know WizKids would never make money off of it,--- Or would they??????)
How much would you pay for a pack of Upgrade Cards?

the reason i mentioned the card/upgrade idea is that ive been doing this for a while now, pretty simple if the players in your group can all agree not to go overboard with powers ie- like giving BATMAN HEAT-VISION for example, even just selecting old clix that havent been remade would be good add any missing ability[within reason] and hey presto icJUGGERNAUT can use charge.

Ha good point, but I dont think he ment golden age as in retired. I think it was more in the vein of pre-card sets vs current card sets.

Some golden age early set characters should get you a rebate for putting them on your team

I am using Cosmic Justice Batgirl

Let's see, 41 points, less 50 for playing a character with a max 8 attack (?!?!? Cassie?), plus 5 because you have a wildcard on your team and she has Bats TA - net = -4 points!

You could allow old figures (but not new ones) to use feats.
Consider giving all the old figures "Not So Special". One attack has a surprising amount of juice.
Be careful streamlining the rules, we might need that.

Upgrade cards are a great idea. Charge on IC Juggernaut is perfect since the GSX one is so expensive! Do you have a template you use for printing the cards you create?

My group is fairly easy-going. I'll put it to a vote whether we give new point totals or use the idea that attack or defense can't go below a certain value.

This thread already has tons of great suggestions. I like the above and I might add another house rule that does the same for defense as attack.

If the old Cliz get +1 to attack, their first click will be super dangerous. Of course once they take a little damage they will be back to worthless. I guess if we use "Not So Special" as the house rule, we will have to debate whether less 10% is okay or should we still go lower.

In home games I try to use some older clix on BOTH sides. If you do that it works out pretty well because both sides suffer from roughly the same amount of aging.

Now if you're going theme vs. theme that entails certain characters. In this case the newer team will probably win. Solution, play the game once, tally the score, switch teams with your opponent, replay, tally the score. Whoever wins on points deserves it because you both played at the same disadvantage once.

My apologies for not reading the thread in case this was already proposed.
If you're having fun - you're doing it right!

Let there be Vengeance in heroclix!
