Now that most of Chaos War has been spoiled, will you buy the set or skip it?
Now that most of Chaos War's dials have been spoiled [thanks to traitorarmor and Giant Big Head], does this change your mind about the set? Does this mean you'll buy bricks for the set, or skip it to just buy singles you want?
I know given WizKids' aggressive release schedule this year, it's making it hard to keep up and buy every set that's released. As a result I know a lot of people are hesitant on buying Chaos War. But now what we know for the most part what the set is like, does it make you want to purchase at least a brick, or does it make you want to skip it?
Just curious on everyone's thoughts on the set.
For me, I like more than 1/2 the figures in the set. That's enough for me to confirm my purchase decision. Though there was a moment where I was tempted on scaling back a bit.
I run HeroClix tournaments every 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at The Realm Games and Comics in Brea, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.
Our Fear Itself prizing for The Realm will include the 2012 Punisher Con LE, Giant-Man Con LE, and Shuma Gorath Con LE.
if i would have known character selection.....and how this should have been called avengers and not chaos war....i wouldnt have pre ordered any. love the avengers but some of the fig selection is weird...and as much as i like cap thor and ironman we have way to many of them already this year
If they would of kept it Avengers and not called it Chaos War. I probable would of ordered more and set more money aside for it. As of right now I love it.
There's so much that I still need to play from the past few sets that I can afford to wait a month or two and then buy what I want for next to nothing.
I don't like the avengers and even if the set was originally named Mighty Avengers I believe that there are too many of them in it. I'll buy the Thunderbolts and Mr. Sinister from the secondary market. Even if I'd liked the avengers I hadn't buy the set because from the set I like only the various +1 bonuses characters, sharon carter and other support characters, I find most of the other figures not great as attackers and not consistent in general.
NECA/WIZKIDS MAKE AN AGE OF APOCALYPSE SET, PLEASE! and maybe a Cyclopalypse (with powers of the Twelve) My Heroclix sets...
I have had to scale back purchasing of clix thanks to the release schedule (skipped almost all of Batman: DKR due to not being a big Bat fan). However, I usually end up getting a case of a main heroclix set (like the last ones, and ironically I'll end up getting a case of Heroclix: Batman since it's a 5 figure booster set).
This is no different. I've already paid in full for my case of Chaos War. It does help that I'm a comic book Avengers fanboy and a complete mark for Hank Pym.
Skipped it. Not enough money in the budget for all of this stuff.
Bummer, but there it is and there you have it.

I will be purchasing boosters for sealed events only. Saving money for sets that I want. This is deja vu all over again and why I dropped out of Heroclix the first time around. Let's hope that history doesn't repeat itself.
I want a lot of it. And even though I think 8 of the slots are completely wasted, if I'd had a set list a couple weeks ago, I probably would have put in a last-minute pre-order. Because I didn't though, and I only feel I need about half the SRs, I'm fine with my decision to wait, buy a few loose boosters on release day, more for sealed, and fill in with singles purchases. There are a lot of "gotta have its" in the set for me, and a distressingly large number of "mehs" for an Avengers fan. That they apparently didn't see fit to complete the first MoE lineup kinda chafes.
At least they finally gave us a great Taskmaster!
I was always going to buy. The question was just how much I was going to buy.

So far I want one figure (Sentry) and that is only because I need it to move Invincible onto

I was pretty sure I wanted a CUR set of Chaos War and the dial spoilers that traitorarmor gave us just sealed the deal. I'm not convinced on the Merge/Split powers yet but I may become more a fan of it when the Batman set in November comes out. Can't wait for 7/12/12!

I have my standard 2 cases coming in - that's for every set.
So it's never about a setlist or dials that determine how much I purchase, but it does come down to how glad I am that I did and how many extras I do or don't wind up with.
This set hits my buttons in all the right ways - it kind of feels like an Avengers version of GSX... and to me, that's a vey good thing!
I have been buying less and less from sets (besides DKR). I usually would buy a brick but the only packs from the past 2 sets I got were from sealed events (6 from Hulk and only 4 from GG). I will only be playing in one sealed event this time around so I am only buying 2 packs of Chaos War. Just don't have the money for Clix right now plus haven't been really interested in the main sets. The better stuff lately has been the Avengers movie and DKR set.
Overall the set does seem pretty meh. There are a few CUR that I want. I could live without any of the SRs we have seen so far. Of course the two figures I really like are the chases.
