Ep. 108: What first 5 outta the booster do you want!
What 5 Figures do you want to be in your first booster of Chaos War?!This week Steve and Gudda get together and talk about what they want to pull in that first Chaos War booster. Good luck opening your boosters!
and for the record Taskmaster can not copy powers only abilites in the comics, meaning any act he sees performed he can replicate, but he wouldnt be able to suddenly gain the Hulks impervious or super strength. But, it makes for a cool dial to play.
Our delivery of the set was delayed. They were held up in Winnemucca, Nevada because of the wildfires east of here. They're supposed to arrive today. Cross your fingers!
Steve, you're wrong about Wonder Man not being in the main set. He's #28.
Top five list is cool. You said first booster, which i thought was a much more interesting idea, because obviously everyone wants the chases, but hearing the common/uncomon/rare spots is much more interesting.
I thought it would have been cooler if you stuck to the booster idea.
chase: Sentry/Void
sr: Kang
r: Ares
uc: Nitro
c: Donald Blake

Reason: Enjoyed the show. Looking forward to hearing what you think of the set once you have them in hand.
It was presented to me as top five in the pre show prep, Steve did this booster thing on the fly that's why my list didn't work.... I'll post my dream booster pulls not counting any chase figs here soon. Thanks for listening and you are tight about the common uncommon stuff.
Bombastic Bagman is Peter Park From Earth 616. He was wearing the suit cause Johnny Storm gave it to him to wear home, when he was leaving the baxter building; this after Reed removed venom......come on man.
Any one in Seattle Area every want to hang out and play, send me a message.
Technically He was amazing bagman... bombastic bagman was during the Identity Crisis story line when peter was unable to be spider-man and became prodigy , dusk, hornet , richochet.....seeing a crime being comited he did not have a custume he dumped his grocerys and called himself bombastic bag man ... a hero he said gained his powers from a lightingbolt Shampoo incident.
As to the bagman costume yes what you said is true .. pretty sure he ##### it in a what if also could be wrong .. checking now.
Steve, i disagree with what you are trying to do with your venue. I do not see gladiator player as the issue.. His opponent (the quitter and real problem) played a 225 pt figure that is what.. 6 years old now? Gkc gl and his 20 def was fantastic back in the day but more characters have numbers like that and attack values to hit it.
Kc gl player had no fun because he chose a character that in todays day and age is pretty obsolite.
I love my kc fig collectin as much as the next guy. But even kc superman isn!t the power house he was 6 years ago. Consider this.. No character greater than 2/3 the build total in a 300 pt game would have made kc gl not choosable.
If the gl player picked some different figs and realized that old one man army figs are not as strong as modern ones, he'd have stood a better chance and consequently had a better time.
He was a sore loser whom expected to be mostly unhittable with that high defense... And lets face it that gl has ALWAYS hinged on not getting hit. An infinity challenge character with high av 3 damage and a tk fig brought his threat level drastically down back in the day... Anything over 3 damage and you essentially make kc gl a 225 pt liability.

I agree with you, but it's a venue thing as well. You don't see how this "other guy" plays all the time. Whenever someone wants to play something fun it becomes a "do I want to win or do I want to have fun....or do I want to do both."
When you have a player that debates every game whether to put the gauntlet on an already powered all to heck character just because they want to rub it in other players faces, because they spent some money on eBay to buy it, kinda takes the fun out of the game for everyone.
Also I am thinking of my venue's "climate". If you are a regular listener, you'll know the player base in my town has been in the toilet....2-4 guys for the last year or so on a regular basis. In the last month and a half I have built that up to 10-12 guys on a regular basis. Most are new/getting back into the game or only have access to some older pieces at the moment. While I am working on a solution for those guys still running old pieces, (something I will talk about on the next podcast) I am trying to keep the game, fun and loose for the new guys while still making it completive for the "experts"
Again I agree with you. I don't want to place some restrictions, but I also don't want to lose half our players, because of one guy. I am also putting it to a vote at the venue, if the bulk of the players are fine with it, we will do it until everyone is up to speed on play style and experience, then the restriction will lift.
