Collector's can be gamers also but are you primarily buy Heroclix in order to collect the figures?
I consider myself almost expressly a collector. I love that you can game with the pieces but I have to admit to being primarily a collector that likes to display the good stuff.
Please respond if you consider yourself more of a collector than a gamer. I don't see many commenting in the forums.
I love the game and I am totally a collector. Cant stop buying these little plastic treasures. Do you collect comics too? Thats how i got started. My buddy at the comic store got me a clobbering time Thor and I was hooked.

Thanks and enjoy the game AND the collection.
I primarily buy and play to keep completing the collection.
Oh, and I try to display allll the stuff I get.
I've completed collecting the IC, CT, XP, CM, Ult, MM, FF, AW, Sin, SN, AVE, M&M, SI, HoT, WoS, GSX, CA, IH, GG, AVM, CW, M10th, ASM & IM3 sets.
Looking to get PR Professor X (W/X-Men) and pre-release IC Wolverine.
I'm not a completionist but do consider myself primarily a collector. The only reason I still play this game is because its one of those rare opportunities for the DCU & MU to crossover.
I was an active player/collector of the game up to Monsters and Mutations.
Once Topps/Wizkids took away the flight stands and stopped making the feat cards in card board I started to slow on my playing and just mainly collected certain characters.
Toward the end I only bought a brick of last 3 sets to send away for the brick figures. Thou I wished I would have played in the Arkham Asylum events for those LEs were neat that Seth designed.
I supported the relaunch but was very disappointed in the Brave and Bold set and the whole Black Lantern chase deal.
I mainly collected certain pieces until GSX set which got me playing again. That set was just great. And I had to send away for WL Sinestro. Unfortunatley I am back to mainly collecting for I find that quality is slipping again compared to the GSX set.
I will only be collecting loose figs after Chaos War for I don't like paying a premium for the CTD boosters nor care to get the vehicles in up coming Batman set.

I think I understand where you're coming from here:
You're a collector, but now you can't collect everything because NECA is making it so difficult/expensive to do so.
I also consider myself a collector a bit more than a player, but since the beginning, I've only been collecting the stuff I like from stories and characters that I like.
My decisions on what to collect and what not to collect are effected by so many varied things that no one but me could tell you what I will and won't collect.
But I can tell you that I'm very bothered by all the figures that I DO want that are out of my reach.
Sure, I was a bit bothered by Chases like Capcicle and Tuberine but with the release of Chaos War, I'm at the point where I'm just going to stop caring all together about what I do and don't get.
I've pulled two Chases in all the time that I've been playing HeroClix and I haven't pulled a single one since the haitus.
I'm primarily a collector now. Not really a completist due to some only clixed once characters being VERY expensive (looking at you, Thorbuster Iron Man). But I try to focus on characters never made before.
I play the Marvel Superheroes RPG and these guys are perfect miniatures for it. I haven't played an actual Heroclix game in at least three years.

Anybody remember the Herolympics thread on this site? Good times.
I'm a collector of characters and sculpts I like. I'm not a completionist when it comes to new sets, but I make a list of all clix I like from any upcoming set and I'm not satisfied until I've got them all.

At a previous venue, collectors and gamers were about 50%- 50%. A few guys would play only releases, but only really because they were there to pick up figs for ther collections. There's a lot more collector-only people out there than people think.
Definitely a collector. The convention exclusives this year may well be the death knell of my "completionism", but I will not go gently. I love the game and love to play, but I just HAVE to collect them all. I'm an addict and I know it.
Its all fun and games until someone rolls snake eyes on a push.....then it is hilarious
