Marvel HeroClix: 10th Anniversary: The Dark Phoenix!
Our series of previews continues for the Marvel HeroClix: 10th Anniversary set with a visit to the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning (formerly the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning) as we spotlight the school’s namesake. Please welcome one of Professor Charles Xavier’s original students, Marvel Girl!
Who Has Used The Bat Belt? (7-3 W/L)BM049 Socialist Red Guardsman(W); BM207 The Joker(L); D10a007 Nightwing(L); DKR023 Henri Ducard(W); FFBM002 Damian Wayne(W); CR010 Liberty Belle(W); NML002 Batgirl(L); BM103 The Batman of Zur-En-Arrh(W); TabApp-E Superman(W); SoG040 Deathstroke(W)
Wow... that's a nice Battlefield Promotion. Though it definitely makes Marvel Girl a huge target to take out quickly before she gets any promotion tokens.
GSX Phoenix is my go to marvel powerhouse. Hmm, this may be changing soon. I love that dark phoenix. And once again, the early versions are really turning out great. Marvel Girl looks like a great piece....though I would never play her without dark phoenix waiting on the sidelines. More must haves from the 10th anniversary sets.
Great phoenix, and glad it's built to serve better on a team (on big point games) than all by herself due to TK and that last click defense power.
Marvel girl...ok to mediocre. Good for all-dial TK and X-Men TA.
Zero range (seriously?), horrible AV and extreme squishiness will make sure you are never able to use the battlefield promotion.
Plus, the BP trait is poorly edited. It says you roll when "Jean Grey" is KO'd...I assume they meant to write Marvel Girl, and not make you include another character named Jean Grey in your team and have her KO'd in order to use the power.
an updated IC V Jean grey...I think she's quite playable even if the game has strayed from needing a medic...Although part of me really wants/wanted a 23pt piece that would let cyclops/phoenix merge into common GSX cyclops to facilitate healing the other and then remerging
I guess If I plan to do that I'll need to start split and then merge....still she'll work quite well with the GSX FF Cyke
Well compared to her ic vet and le versions, this jean at 54pts is immensely better. Still there are other jeans for 40 or 50 who are better. I don't know yet if that promotion stuff is playable but at least it'd accurate. So disapointing anyway that the trait is poorly worded.
Dark phoenix is à power piece with hss... I think it will make à lot of guys here happy. But not me. Hss is à dirty cheesy power i despise... It s ok on harrasser or speedsters like nightcrawler, flash or Vega. It is not ok on superman or phoenix. Game breaking with such range and damage. The 100 pts version is good. I would have liked it better with à green costume phoenix that is 100pts or so and X-Men ta... Guess i'll have to wait. Or mod.
Anyway these dials are okay. Not tremendous but on par with what we could expect. And these are no chase so it is a good news for me.

You do realize why her stats and powers and keywords are like this don't you? All of the "Older" figures in these sets harkin back to one of the original incarnations of the character. This Jean Grey (Now called Marvel Girl) was a beast back in the day and a feared figure for her total support power set. She has TK, Support, and X-Men TA. Back in the day those 9 and 7 Attack values could easily hit characters especially once those characters had taken three or more damage.
That 100 Point DP is just crazy good for the points. She should be a force to be reckoned with.
