While we are getting the umpteenth version of Superman and Batman, there are still oh so many more or less popular characters out there that are still waiting impatiently for their Heroclix debut.
Today I will be talking about one of the more recent recruits to the Green Lantern Corps... Soranik Natu!
Soranik Natu was a neurosurgeon on Korugar, the home planet of the infamous Sinestro. Like most residents of her planet, she regarded the Green Lantern Corps with hatred and fear; after all, one of them had made himself dictator of her planet. Imagine her surprise when she is selected to become the next GL of sector 1417! After initially refusing, she is eventually convinced by Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner to join.
Why clix her? For all the Lanterns we have, we don't have many regular, non-human Green Lanterns outside of the Movie set. Furthermore, she's both an interesting character and would certainly have an interesting dial.
Who would she play with?
Green Lanterns, pretty much. Soranik hasn't made much of an appearance outside of the GLC comic book. Specifically she'd go well with Kyle Rayner (with whom she had a romantic engagement) and Guy Gardner and other modern GLs.
For more generic or non-comic themes, she could be set up with other doctors in a humorous theme. Or (based on what I suppose her dial would look like) she'd be a good secondary attacker and support piece for any number of teams.
Likely keywords: Green Lantern Corps
What would her dial look like?
What sets Soranik apart from other Green Lanterns is that she's a doctor, and actually acts as a field medic during battle. She would have Support and it would actually be comic-accurate for her to be healing others on the battlefield.
Ring-powered flight (Phasing/Teleport)
Hot-headed rage (Charge)
Power Ring (Telekinesis)
Constructs (Incapacitate)
Ring's protection from harm (Toughness)
Ringed-up defenses (Energy Shield/Deflection)
Ring-assisted Medic (Support)
I'd make her Indomitable for sure.
I think she should have a special power regarding Support. A few ideas that came to me-- able to use TK and the support on the placed character afterwards as a free action; able to use charge, then support as a free action; able to use support but only subtract one from the die roll.
She might have the GCL team ability, but she's not usually carrying other people around since she hangs with other GLs.
What would your Soranik Natu dial look like? Share it here!
And then join me in two weeks when I showcase another Unclixed DC character!
Nice write-up. The Support -1 (instead of -2) definitely makes sense. I'm not versed in the character beyond what you've written here, so I don't have any character-specific recommendations -- it would largely be guesswork.
I do find myself wondering if GLs in general should have either defensive Traits (the ring's supposed to automatically at least attempt to protect them from harm -- except when the writer needs it to be otherwise for the sake of the story -- right?) I'm also back to wondering whether the GL TA should give the player the decision at the beginning of the game whether the TA should work as currently, or if instead allowing the character to Carry (one friendly character) without the -2 to Speed AND provide ES/D to all adjacent friendly characters -- or maybe any within 2 squares?

Corps Duo: When a friendly character named Kyle Rayner or Green Lantern (real name Kyle Rayner) is adjacent to Soranik Natu they both modify their defense values by +1 if not already modified by this effect. Master Healer: Whenever Soranik Natu uses support, her minimum result is two, not one. Go where I'm needed most.: Soranik Natu may use support, give Soranik Natu a power action. She may move up to four squares, then use support as a free action. Medic of the Corps: Soranik Natu may use support, give Soranik Natu a power action, she may then choose one of the following options-(1) She may use Support and Telekinesis as free actions, once each, (2) she can use support as a free action, and can use defend until the start of your next turn.
I would love to see a clix version of Soranik Natu.
I like that her powers reflect her power, determination and the fact that she's a doctor/healer, as well as the unwitting "Savior of Korugar."
However, I think you would be remiss to ignore the fact that she's Sinestro's daughter when making her...she should have some kind of power that reflects that. I mean, she's actually wearing Sinestro's (old) Green Lantern ring when he was in the Corps (the first time around). At least name a power "Sinestro's Daughter."
She's a great character, a favorite of mine from the "Johns Era" of Green Lantern, even though I don't think Johns ever really wrote a book with her in it. She was extremely interesting, even before it was revealed that she was Sinestro's daughter. It's a shame that she's been absent from the Lantern books since the relaunch; hopefully she'll be back with a vengeance in the new "Third Army" storyline.
