Round 1 - Battle 5 (Battle Report)

The first 100 Heroclix pieces made that are 100pts each are going to battle it out to see which one stands alone. In Round 1, each battle features 20 pieces fighting to survive to make it to the finals!

20 are gathered inside a strange small area surrounded by an inescapable wall of energy. What happens next is best told by those who watch...

Bob, The Monitor: Don't ask us how we know, but this is apparently gonna be the final battle before the finals.

Uatu, the Watcher: Final before the finals, eh? This is why I don't let you speak first.

B: You're really mean.

U: Oh please. You thought it was hilarious to urinate in my coffee.

B: Heh. Yeah.

U: We're looking out over 20 fighters ready to go and among them 3 colossals!

B: This is going to be brutal!

U: And the Nova Corps Centurian wastes no time at all moving to a spot in the bushes and blasting Kristoff.

B: Small-time! I'm watching the Frost Giant stab that spear right into Giganto! The fighers underneath better watch out!

U: WOW! Krypto! He just took a BIG bite out of Hogun! I don't know what Hogun's feelings about animals are... but Krypto attacked like it was personal!

B: Yellowjacket decides to knock Kristoff away with a poweful punch!

U: And then Reed Richards just managed to deliver a hit to Giganto!

B: It's all happening too fast! Oh man! Hogun just drove that mace right into the leg of that Sentinel!

U: Capwolf gets in the game and just rips whatever is alive outta Tharok. Those claws cut DEEP.

B: Abominat...didn't we just see this guy?

U: I think that was someone else. I don't know.

B: Anyway, he just landed a HUGE hit on the Frost Giant.

U: I heard that one from here... and while that happened I caught Blue Devil just blasting the last of Kristoff from the game. That first KO is always a mean one.

B: OH WOW! Giganto just answered back with a MASSIVE QUAKE that hurts everyone around him, even those who can normally just take a hit like that. The Frost Giant, Reed Richards, Mach-4 and Leader all took some hurt there... and speaking of leader...

U: Holy cow! Leader just unleashes a blast that cuts through and knocks back a bunch of these fighters! I'm looking at the Nova Corps Centurian, Yellowjacket, Hogun, Steel, Blue Devil, Giganto and Mach-4 all suffering from that blast.

B: Looks like that Sentinel finally noticed the mace in his foot as he lands a fist down on Hogun, and then it looks like, yeah, I see Mach-4 making a run across the place trying to find somewhere he's less vulnerable.

U: Not sure he's found it, but we'll see. Looks like while everyone rests Reed Richards makes sure the Mindless One is discouraged from doing much of anything... and it looks like only the Sentinel manages to make a move during the break and Hogun takes another hit, this time being knocked back, too.

B: NC Centurian gets back in the action with a blast to Steel. Then Nova builds up some speed and slams into the Frost Giant to knock it out!

U: Krypto then takes a bite out of the Sentinel just as Reed Richards drives a rubbery fist into Giganto and KO's that gigantic monster!

B: Then Joe Ledger lands a hit on Hogun who now looks like a real threat.

U: Forget threats, Steel just grabbed a girder and put Leader down.

B: And now Capwolf cuts through the last of the Sentinel, who held out just moments longer than the other colossal fighters out here!

U: And the Mindless One just blasted the last bits of Tharok! Already six combatants are out!

B: I see Abomination run across the field and pick up an old CRT monitor. That's gonna hurt someone...

U: Everyone looks to be taking a breath again... but just one moment later the action resumes, this time Nova getting another running start flies right into Steel to deliver some serious damage.

B: Steel is able to keep Krypto from following up, and then watches as Yellowjacket trips over his own feet and lands right on his face. Pym dusts himself off and tries to take a defensive posture... but he knows he just made the blooper reel.

U: Hogun shows some newfound energy and delivers a big hit on Mach-4, while almost in the same instant Joe Ledger manages a blast on Reed Richards. Capwolf then lunges at Joe Ledger, but barely scratches him. Joe let's out something like a hiss at the equivalent of a papercut, turning around in time to see the Mindless One blast Reed Richards right out of the game.

B: Brawn over brains, partner. We see it happening a lot out here.

U: Blue Devil tags Mach-4 with a little hellfire just before the dragging his armor away and grabbing up a metal conference table on his way. While everyone else is again taking a moment, Mach-4 manages to narrowly avoid a blast from the Mindless One, but he looks like he cannot have much left...

B: Oh my! Nova Corps letting it be known that the beatings will continue until morale improves! Nova Corps Centurion drops Steel with a gravimetric blast and then Nova charges over and puts a quick end to Mach-4.

U: Krypto is still making lots of trouble out there, this time grabbing a fire hydrant and bashing it into the Nova Corps Centurion, who then takes a punch from Yellowjacket!

B: Capwolf gets his claws back out to tear up Hogun and the Asgardian succumbs... and right nearby it looks like that Zombie Hulk's purple pants must be slipping off as he tries to punch Yellowjacket, but only succeeds at adding his own footage to the bloopers.

U: Must be some kind of hex over there. But in the meantime Abomination starts making a move on Joe Ledger who's only option is to keep running.

B: Zombie Hulk still cannot connect with Yellowjacket while that Mindless One moves towards the populated side of the field. Hogun marked the tenth to fall so far, so only ten remain.

U: That's some sharp math, Bob.

B: Thanks, TuTu. Oh ho, looks like Nova has decided he needs all the power for himself and runs over to knock out the Nova Corps Centurion.

U: Krypto, barking loud as can be takes a disgusting bite out of Zombie Hulk and he does not look like he's digesting that well.

B: Capwolf now gets bit by the fail-bug and lunging at Nova he winds up taking a header into the grass. He is howling out there as it looks like a broke a claw.

U: Mindless One goes after another smarty-pants, this time Yellowjacket takes a blast right into his brain and shrinks down to try and avoid further beating, and it works as he just manages to dodge a blast from Blue Devil.

B: But the Zombie Hulk finds him and swallows the bite-sized Yellowjacket, but he doesn't get a chance to savor as Nova gets his running start and hits Zombie Hulk and sets him up for Krypto to finish him off!

U: This time Capwolf connects with a hit on Nova, but not to serious effect and Nova seems to power up a bit in response. Meanwhile Joe Ledger looks for a place to possibly make a stand, but instead ends up just managing to avoid a blast from the Mindless One and then Abomination drops over at his side again, which distracts him enough that Blue Devil scorches him.

B: Mindless One actually follows up on that and blasts Joe Ledger in a big way, and again Nova is set up, this time getting his speed up and just KA-plowing over Joe Ledger for his fourth KO of this match. I think Rich is going to be moving on one way or another...

U: But it might not be as a survivor as Blue Devil hits Nova with the hellfire. With just six fighters left, things are heating up.

B: Some ducking and dodging... until Krypto shows who the big dog is, taking a bit outta Capwolf!

U: Capwolf makes a run for it, but moments later Nova is at it again, charging right at him and delivering a solid hit. No one else is able to capitalize, so Nova finishes what he started and crushes the beaten Capwolf, grabbing a record fifth KO.

B: There's a yelp as Blue Devil scorches the tail on Krypto, and again the Mindless One follows up with a blast, putting Krypto in a rage... but it does no good.

U: Yeah, Nova charges over and lands a punch on Krypto, and while Mindless One this time lands a hit on Abomination, who in turn drops some serious damage on Nova, it's Blue Devil to manages to get in a final shot on Krypto and the dog is put down.

B: And moments later Abomination finishes what he started and stops Nova with a big punch and then turns his sights to the softer of the two remaining.

U: Blue Devil can't land a hit on Abomination, but the Mindless One just unleashes another blast, this one right into Abomination. With the last of his strength he lands a hit on Blue Devil, but the Mindless finishes the job and only two remain.

And remember that those pieces that scored several KO's (like Nova) make it in through their display of brute force, as the top 5 KO-getters will move on to the finals, too!
