Last year after winning world's I ended up with more stuff then I knew
what to do with so I decided to give it away. A local player told me
I'd get huge giant crowds with the level of stuff I'd be giving away
so I decided to make it a charity event. I had a very sick cousin who
was in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant who was working with DKMS Americas to attempt to get a
match.
One long wild ride later we ended up at the Convention Center during
epiccon and raised over 2400 dollars for DKMS.
Sadly, it wasn't enough for my cousin. That event turned out to be the
last public thing he ever did, as he was in the hospital next week,
and passed away that November.
In his memory, I decided to make this an annual event.
The format was 400 points chaos war, with players able to spend $1 to
reroll a roll during their game.
A raffle was also available with some great prizes.
Players received their first surprise before the first die was even
rolled as each player was able to open a Goodie Bag containing custom
dice, 2 LE's and a map!
One lucky player received a godbag containing several pairs of dice
and a Scarlet Witch/Vision chase!
Competition was fierce but friendly as it was all for charity! Round 1
saw one game generate over $100 dollars!
In the end there could be only one and Matt Wishart was able to claim
victory with The Sentry!
(Oh god I look so creepy)
But everyone who played walked away with a White Lantern Sinestro
regardless of where they placed.
The grand total raised for the event was $3099 shattering last years
total by nearly $700! You guys made my aunt cry, she was so amazed by
the generosity shown in memory of her son.
I'd like to personally thank the following people for their help and
support in making this event happen.
James Frazier of Cyborg One for generously donating multiple LE's
The staff of Redcaps Corner for providing space for the event and
generously donating both prizes and cash to the event
My secret anonymous donor who provided everyone with the Sinestro's
Steve, the redcaps judge who provided all the custom dice and put
together the goodie bags.
Hcrealms for sponsoring the event!
Everyone who donated time, money, or prizes. You are all awesome
To everyone who attended, please feel free to post some stories. I
hope to see you all again next year.

Win a batcave at Cyborg One in Doylestown! May 29th at 1pm.
I think we should do a similar event here in Colorado. It seems like the East and South players do a lot of charity and events, I think some West guys could pull one of these off too. Good work to all that participated in the swab.
"No, Joker. You’re playing the wrong game. The old game. Tonight you’re taking no hostages. Tonight I’m taking no prisoners."
On September 15th at Redcap's Corner in Philadelphia PA, 51 players
came out to show their support for the Second Annual Probs For Swabs!
Hey look, I'm the guy with the Soundwave shirt smack dab in the middle.
Anyway, my buddy and I had a blast. I look forward to playing again next year and, hopefully, bringing some more cash with me. I just wish I didn't have to replace the brakes, rotars and drums on my my wife's van three days before so I could have helped out more cash wise.
Maybe next year you could come up with some kind of online participation. Possibly a raffle with a webcast for the drawing? I am WAY too far to make the drive and wish I could be part of this amazing event! Congrats to all who attended and lots of respect to the organizers!
When you can snatch this remote from my hand, you will be ready to choose the channels we watch. Try to snatch it...

Wow! That's bad luck! At least you could still make it. I was planning in making it, and had everything arranged, and managed to completely total my car a week before the tourney.
I'll definitely be back next year! Last year rocked, an from te sound of it so did this year! Can't wait I play it again!

It was a blast to play. Only thing though is I won with Sentry and not Unspoken. His 13 Atk (counting in the Perplex) is what let me win. I only need 3s, 4s, and 5s to hit all day so even when WordofCommand dropped $30 on a single attack it only took my $1 to undue his full $30. Sentry was amazing for this event with that attack value I was able to ensure he didn't miss a single attack all day.
All in all it was a great day thanks again Dan I can't wait for next year!
Check out ATF! in Berlin NJ. Heroclix every Sunday! http://allthingsfun.net Number of characters Zombified thanks to Zuvembie: 16

I think this is a great idea. I know many people at my venue that would participate if this was available.
