Some definite contenders include: Taskmaster.....
Hold on a second!! Taskmaster can do anything he sees with the exact same level of skill. So by all rights Taskmaster is the equal in pure fighting skill of anyone he watches fight...even on video. I'm starting a new thread BATMAN v. TASKMASTER....Bats has met his match!
The Competitors:
Batman: DCs best fighter/strategist/riddle solver
Taskmaster: Marvel's mutant with the ability to mimic any skill he sees
Strength: Equal
Speed: Equal
Agility: Taskmaster (he can mimic Spidey's moves)
Endurance: Batman
Willpower: Batman
Intelligence: Batman
Ruthlessness: Taskmaster
Cunning: Taskmaster
Patience: Batman
Stealth: Equal
Opportunistic Bent: Equal
Fighting Skill: Taskmaster (he has dozens of top fighters to draw on, including Bats after a few moments)
Versatility: Taskmaster (constantly changing fighting styles, mimics any skill)
Final Score: Bats = +4 Taskie = +5
THis would be a great battle, many people have used Cap's morality against him in a match-up against Bats. Taskie has no such qualms. Taskmaster's ability to roll with the punches and surprise Bats with new moves every minute on top of world-class fighting prowess and the ruthlessness to fight really dirty would finally put to rest the arguement about who in the Marvel U could best the Bat.
Here's how Batman wins: he knows he's being watched by taskmaster, and takes out a couple thugs with an inferior form of martial arts that he knows every weakness to. When taskmaster comes for him, Batman lays him out.
I thought that up in about five seconds. Imagine what Batman would do.
You guys really need to give up on thse threads. you can't win.
That completely disreguards every fighting style Taskmaster has ever learned before, and there is no garuntee that Batman will know he is being watched; just look at the villian from Hush.
If there was absolute freedom, people would run over babies and charge admission.
I love the Taskmaster, but in all honosty, Batman's superior intellect will always win over super powers of any sort. He even knows how to beat Superman if need be. His mind could calculate any situation within moments and counteract any move made, tactical, strategical, or fighting.
In a sense, Batman's intellegence gives him a similiar ability. Ruthlesness? Batman is the Dark Knight, he understands that sometimes you walk the border of dark and light to make what you want.
Superman has a known weakness. Its not hard to know how to take down Superman. This cannot be used in situations where "superior intellect" is required, because everybody knows that superman is weak to kryptonite. All the neat little twists Bats puts on it is cool and all, but isnt nessecary.
and Joker, in a straight up battle, how will Batman find some thugs? They just gonna be standing by watching two crazy guys going at it? And given that Taskmaster knows martial arts as well, he would know that bats was using an inferior style, which at the most would make him feel overconfident and....
I'm seeing a trend here. Batman vs. -fill in the blank- threads are popping everywhere. And eerywhere I find two types of people. One is peopl elike dcjoker: Batman will find a way. He always wins. The other is one who hates Batman (or a Marvel Zombie): Well SPider-Man has so and so powers. Taskmaster has so and so powers. No way Batman can beat that!
Ok, I really think Batman can beat a lot of people. But that's only if he studied them long enough to exploit their weakness. I mean, he got creamed by the mutant leader in the Dark Knight Returns, only to beat him later, because mud will slow him down. The only reason Batman won is because he studied and prepared for the fight. So here's a senario I propose:
In Gotham, there has been a recent surge in new supervillains. Batman investigates this surge and discovers that a man named the Taskmaster decided to start a school for villiany in Gotham. Knowing that this threat will increase crime (and his responsibility to stop them), Batman tracks down the school, and goes in to stop them.
During a training session, from the glass ceiling (because it's dramatic), Batman leaps into the center of a class filled with thugs in training. Then Batman mutters "Get out of my city."
As all the thugs attack Batman, he uses his smoke bomb to disorient them, and slowly take one out at a time. Soon a strong figure arises. "You! Get out of my school!" Thus appears Taskmaster. Taskmaster makes the first blow by throwing his shield, Captain America style! Batman easily dodges this. Then knowing Taskmaster can defend himself with his sheild anymore, Batman throws his batarangs. Taskmaster dodges them. The shield Taskmaster threw turns back (C'mon Captain America always throws his shield and gets it back like a boomerang) towards Taskmaster. It nearly hits Batman, but Batman dodges it again. Preocuppied with dodging the shield, Batman gets hit from Taskmaster, Iron Fist style.
Knowing this fight is going to test him to the limit, Batman gets his utility belt, and thorws another gas bomb to flee and study his foe. But as an expert of stealth Taskmaster takes advantage of this and follows Batman to the rooftop.
Taskmaster then pulls out his sword and attacks Batman, Black Knight style. Batman dodges most of his slashes. By now Batman does not really know how to defeat this foe since he has several moves he may use. Knowing how Prometheus was defeated, Batman tried to give a kick in the groin. Taskmaster (who should have Spider-Man's reflexes) dodges this kick. And in the process pulling Batman's utility belt off, so Batman could not use any more cheap moves.
Coming prepared, Batman pushes a botton under his shoe to call for Orcale (for information). But Taskmaster continues to lay punches on him, Shan-Chi style. Knowing that this must be a fight of martial arts (fist fight), Batman has no other choice but to commit a fist fight. With his extensive martial arts experience he lays some punches to Taskmaster. Taskmaster, getting tired of all this, decides to lay Batman several heavy punches Captain America style, Iron Fist style, and other styles he could think of. Heavy blows to Batman weakens him a bit. But not a man to give up, Batman continues fighting until he falls.
Then as Batman loses consciousness, he tells Taskmaster "You may have beaten me, but I called for reinforcements that will take you down."
It was the longest 10 mintute fight Taskmaster has ever faced. Now he has to get ready for his fight against Robin and Nightwing (which should take an additional 5 minutes).
The key here is that Batman has faced villains who's sheer fighting skills or prowess is so much Batman can't contend if he never studied them. While he could study Taskmaster for weaknesses during the fight, he must also dodge most of Taskmaster's onslaught of punches. Batman can think fast, but Taskmaster is well rounded enough that a weakness is not apparent. The extension to this story is that Batman will leave, adn study his enemy. Then he'll manipulate Superman into beating the #### out of Taskmaster and win. But if Batman never had time to study him, it's kinda hard to beat him.
I believe in a pure fight Taskmaster's fighting ability surpasses Batman. But you may argue both ways. If you argue in favor of Batman, please provide a valid argument, not a cheap 'Batman will outwit him', or 'Batman beats everyone.' 'Cause then you don't have anything to back up your claim.
I run HeroClix tournaments every 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at The Realm Games and Comics in Brea, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.
Our Fear Itself prizing for The Realm will include the 2012 Punisher Con LE, Giant-Man Con LE, and Shuma Gorath Con LE.

Great scenario W10002!
The only thing I would add is that once Bats is unconscious, Taskie skewers him, Bats dies before Robin and #### arrive and DC goes bankrupt...lol
