6 March 2013 – (New York, NY) 4K Media Inc., the newly formed, wholly owned subsidiary of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced today that it is creating a line of the games using the WizKids HeroClix and Dice Building Game platform, Quarriors, featuring the Yu-Gi-Oh! Classic animated library. Under the agreement, WizKids will produce a line of games based on the beloved animated series that first aired eleven years ago. The first HeroClix release will feature approximately 50 collectible HeroClix figures released with a two player Starter and Booster expansion packs. The product is expected to hit the market later this year with additional sets being released throughout 2014. Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix and Dice Building Games will be available at specialty, hobby and comic book stores worldwide excluding Asia.
Mr. Shinichi Hanamoto, chairman and president corporate officer 4K Media Inc. said, “We think the combination of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Classic brand and HeroClix will be a big hit especially in the gaming community who have ardently supported our brand for so many years and who love the HeroClix game play. It is a terrific opportunity to offer another way to engage our fans.”
Justin Ziran, president of WizKids said “We’re honored to be involved with Yu-Gi-Oh!, such a tremendously successful property with such a long history of success. We’re excited to offer pre-painted figures of beloved characters to Yu-Gi-Oh! fans around the world.”
The Yu-Gi-Oh! phenomenon swept the US and global markets in 2001 and continues to captivate boys with its best-selling trading card game, animated television series and motion picture releases.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's already one Yu-Gi-Oh game I don't play - what do I need with another?
Not removing this until we get ROCKABILLY MODOK! ROCKABILLY MODOK! ROCKABILLY MODOK!

This seems a little out dated. And doesn't fit into Clix. They play a CARD Game in the show

I think those fans have a game they already spend money on.
Please Wizkids focus on the things that already make you money and that which you have a large fan base for.

Anyone in the Western New York area please PM me if you are looking for a venue.
So now the Yugioh players who are a pain in our backsides at the local venue will be playing our game too? Awesome. :P

This is going to kill heroclix! Probably not but I've thought Neca was pushing WK too hard with excess properties. I feel WK is being spread all over the place with these extra sets, Iron maiden (hopefully!), smurfs (wtf?), hunger games, Nightmare before christmas, etc, etc. Now we have Yu gi oh which I feel has an older fanbase now and that could translate into sales for nostalgia factor or just be well designed and interesting enough for me to cherry buy singles (yes I am the standard unit of measurement in gauging interest in a product for myself...ya'll can substitute your own UoM). I hope these theme sets are profitable for WK but I still feel this is too much too soon and threatens WK stability. only time will tell though.

I used to love Yu-Gi-Oh!, and this seems like an interesting idea. I'll prbably check out the set. Idk if I'll be buying a full case though. Depends on how well they make the dials and if it is Heroclix compatable. I wonder if there will be trainer dials with traits to give bonuses to certain monsters. Maybe a Seto Kaiba dial that if you play three Blue Eyes White Dragons they get a boost to attack and damage or something like that. Sounds like a pretty great idea.
It'll definitely be something I keep an eye open for. There are definite posibilities for the title it just depends on how well they execute the merge to Heroclix.

I know nothing of this yugioh. I am 32 so that probably doesn't help. IF this was Pokemon my wife (she's a little younger 25) would've been so happy. This can't hurt clix and will surely draw different gamers.
Or have a card component with it as well. You make a deck out of the character cards and you can only play figures that you hold the card in your hand, and you can only have 300pts (or whatever the team total you're playing at is) on the board at a time. So if you want to have a bigger monster out you have to sacrifice enough points from the board to be able to play the new one.
hmmmm..... it's an interesting idea for house rules if they don't do that for the figures.
