This is just a theory, mind you, but I think that the uniques are either phenomenal stat-wise, the perfect mix of super powers, or great deals. Please give me feed-back on your opinion.

I think Uniques are just another form of the character with different special powers that they might not have been able to fit into the original. It also just could be another era of the character with different powers. For example the unique cyclops is alot different than the original r/e/v version because he was from an earlier era.

The purpose of uniqes in this game, or rare-things in any game, is for the purpose of collecting. Without their undoubted high-level rarity, this game would not be so popular. A game that requres one to purchase randomly assorted boosters that does not add the thrill of chance to get something rare and or special, is a very boring thing to collect indeed.

Uniques usually are about a CHaracter specific time or hasnt changed enough to warrent a R/E/V. Sometimes uniques have powers that you want and work well togethor, Nightcrawler. Sometimes they doent, Medusa. They are not Cheaper or anything like that just different.

I like uniques as being interesting variations of current characters (think Kitty, Wolverine, Savage Hulk) or random fun figs to play (think Thanos, Vision, Moondragon).

I'm still steaming about having Nightcrawler a unique. He is way to popular to warrant such a rarity

Why didn't nightcrawler have BCF? He has a sword. I think that would open up the door for a REV Nightcrawler later.

Ehn. I still think they could do a REV version of Nightcrawler later on where he doesn't have BCF. I personally wouldn't give him BCF, because he never did that much damage with his rapier.

And judging from how expensive he is on eBay still, over an expansion later, they probably should do up a new version, so fans can get a hold of one. Again, IMHO.

Well yeah, but the point is that he had the rapier. Not that he hardly ever used it. He could use it, he's capable of using it. I think if they did an REV Nightcrawler they'd have to differ him from the current one.

First of all, The new leather costume.

Secondly, the R and E versions should have drastically less life than the current Nightcrawler and the V should have drastically more.

I would include LE's as Uniques as well.
I think all these things happen when trying to make "snapshots" of characters; some characters are good (+) examples of one but poor (-)examples of others . . .

I would just like to add one small note to this thread. I can't find the words to express how very pleased I am with the way WizKids has handled Unique and Limited Edition figures.

Think about it. In so many other games a player will find that his deck or team is entirely ineffectual because he is lacking some critical card or unit that is very, very rare.

Fortunately, Wizkids decided to make their Uniques and Limited Edition figures more appealing to collectors. This means that any player can effectively compete in tournament level play without ever owning a single Unique or Limited Edition figure.

Now, I am not saying that the Uniques and Limited Edition figures are not useful figures. A number of them are quite solid. My personal favorite is the Unique Wasp, perhaps the very best taxi in the Infinity Challenge set. Still, I could create an effective and competitive team without owning this particular figure or any of the other Uniques for that matter.

these are the uniques that I think are just horrible.I was responding to the first post about all uniques being really good

Thanks for the clarification. For a second there, I thought you were saying that no one could build an effective team without Desaad. If that was the case, then either I had seriously overlooked something on this figures dial, or you had forgotten to take your medication.
