This guy is from the All Star Squadron. I think he is also a supporting character in Nightwing's book. So it's only fitting he was crafted from a Nightwing. Enjoy. http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/xmansiona...c=ph%26.view=t
Wasn't this costume a revamp sometime around the 80s? I loved the costume, just trying to remember if I have the character straight. Should go dig up my Who's Who....
psychopanda - you might be thinking of the Marvel Tarantula, the Spiderman villain. He's well deserving of a Unique soon. He could be alongside Iron Fist as the first trwo Marvel CCE figures.
Whenever someone asks me what I think the most dangerous animal is, i tell them it has to be a shark riding on an elephant, just eating and trampling everything in sight.
Nope, I remember the Marvel villain, even before they turned him into an ugly spider-thing. Not sure what his current state is though?
There was an old pulp character caled Tarantula or Spider or something. I don't know if that's who DC based him off of, or if they just revamped his costume. All I know is that I'm pretty sure he didn't run around in this cool costume when they first created the All Star Squadron. He would've stuck out
The Marvel Tarantula would be cool. I liked his costume. Those spikes on his boots were nasty. I hated when they took a perfectly good mercenary and changed him into some B grade horror monster. And then had such a "King Kong" ending. Another T-mod maybe in order.
As for the revamped threads, I think his original outfit was purple and gold. It was based on a sketch by Dian Belmont an "associate" of the original Sandman. The Tarantula changed his outfit shortly after joining the All-Star Squadron.
Thanks for all the feedback. I'll see about getting more and better pics up.
I think the "Tarantula" in the Pulps, that you are thinking of is the Spider whose radio program inspired Stan Lee to create Spiderman, according to "Origins of Marvel Heroes". Yes, I am old enough to have the first printing of that book.
Yeah, it seems that I'm getting the pulp Spider and Tarantula confused, thanks. I think Tarantula did have some sort of generic golden-age costume that had little to do with spiders, as rctpool mentioned.
