This Labor Day weekend (Aug 30-Sept 2) Dragon*Con (www.dragoncon.org) will host the culmination of the Realms Open Championship! Join us Sunday at 1pm in the basement of the Hilton as the best of the best do battle in a 300 point modern age tournament to determine the Realms Open Champion! Not only will the winner receive the best prize package ever awarded at Dragon*Con (to include $1,500 cash) but the R.O.C. champion will also have the bragging rights over all of HCRealms.com!
Do you think you can run with the big dogs of HeroClix? What do you mean you didn’t qualify at one of the regional events (they were held all across the country after all)? That’s OK, hit up Dragon*Con for a chance to qualify. There are two events scheduled that same weekend that will allow you to earn your way in.
You can try your hand Friday (Aug 30th) at 6pm in a 500 point 3 booster WatX sealed event or Saturday (Aug 31st) at 1pm join in on a 300 point tournament utilizing only Marvel and/or DC figures, with ‘no tactics’. Placing high enough in either of those tournaments may very well garner you a seat in the championship event (the actual number of championship seats earned at Dragon*Con events will be determined Sunday prior to the start of the championship event by the number of regional qualifiers that attend).
The best 16 players will compete in a 300 point modern age tournament to determine the Realms Open Champion!!
The full Dragon*Con HeroClix schedule follows (please remember there will be WatX Battle Royals running as soon as we have 4 players sign up):

What we do in life echoes in eternity!
Respect is a given, only disrespect can be earned.
I've been out of competitive clix for some years, but my friend and I went last year, and had a blast. The folks running the tourneys are incredibly friendly and the players were totally cool to a couple rusty old school clixers coming back from the dead for a few days of clix throw downs.
We'll be back this year again, and thanks for putting it all together!
Prize or no prize. If you're not having fun, whats the point?
Just to clarify something for everyone on maps....
The mini maps found in teen titans, street fighter, and the mini games will not be allowed in any of the events at dragoncon.
No 'special rules' on maps are allowed
All Grid Reality maps are considered legal and modern age
3x3 maps may only be used if space allows, and they are legal based on the age of the event.
As usual, the Dragon*Con map designed by Daerave will be tournament legal for all dragoncon events. You can find it here (we also have 20 copies of this map printed on vinyl again this year for prize support!! Thanks again Daerave!)
Some maps will be available for play, if you have a specific map in mind that you want to use you need to bring it with you.
Please refresh my memory. I haven't played since participating in a few BR's at last year's con.
For the WatX Battle Royals:
1. What is the cost of the event?
2. Are there 5 minis per booster (so that you end up with a team of 5 you drafted across the 4 boxes opened at the table)?
3. Given that you play what you open (instead of a normal build total), how many actions per turn do you get?
Thanks! Looking forward to getting downstairs and blowing off a few hours of the Con with you guys!
