Discussion of the new rules....
How has it affected your gaming? Have you won more/lost more?

I've always been one of the top players at my venue, but always hated playing with taxis.... Since the NAAT/Indy rules came out, I've been on a tear. I've only lost a couple of games since then. Anyone else have similar experiences? Anyone out there doing worse because of the new rules?

I'm doing no better or no worse. I've adapted my style of play and army building, but the rules changes didn't make me a better player.

Real Life has been getting in the way. But not much has changed since most of my teams were never taxi heavy to begin with. I've been doing a little worse because I sometimes forget a rule that would have helped me along the way. When before the rules change that didn't happen nearly as much. I chalk it up to just having to play more to get these things committed to "game-memory". Since I know the rules for the most part outside the game, but when I'm in the game I've forgotten some crucial rules.

I didn't have a problem with taxing UNTIL NAAT. Once I played with NAAT, I really saw how much taxing...I dunno, dumbed down the game. When you can't just taxi up Despero and drop him off, you suddenly have to devise new, often better strategies. Characters who you would have never considered playing before now have new uses.

I still think taxi is a big part of the game. A taxied character is STILL getting a 'free move' of sorts. And flyers can STILL taxi the wounded out.

I do NOT care for FCCF...but, c'est la vie. It's something I've learned to live with.

But with the new rules, I'm definitely doing better, and having more fun in team building. It does slow the game down a bit, but I think that's a good thing. It really gives all the pieces a chance to shine.

I don't think it made me a better player, but I think the new rules just favor the way I play.

I run a lot more of grounded figures that I couldnt really combine on the same team before, due to the requirements of taxies for effective offense.

Now I run teams with say, Doc ock, Doc Samson, Hulk, Spiderman, or just about any other figure I can find with pretty good mobility and leap climb.

I win more games now, because I dont get obliterated the second after I make a strategical error. Before, if I moved out too far and wasnt aware of my opponent strategy, he could swoop in, drop the hammer, and be gone before I could do anything about it.

At least now, when there is going to be close combat, Im at least aware of it, and have a shot at an attack or retreat before I get brutalized.

My taxi figures are down to maybe one or two per team now, whereas before it was around half and half.

I don't think I have caught up to the new rules yet. The game seems to have evolved in one that thrives on the statigies with stealth. So positioning is key. I'm the oldest guy I know who plays this game. So I'm not a fast learner anymore.....but I'll catch up!

There's a lot more strategy involved now.... It was pretty easy to just tote Despero around and tear people up. Now, you really have to think about every move, and figures like Robin, Daredevil, etc., are more important than ever before.

I don't think that I win dramaticaly more than I used to but I am deffinitely winning more. Not a whole lot but more. I think it is more my die that lose for me win I am in a slump though. I was never a big user/abuser of the Vulture/FL combo though. I think I traded all my FL's away actually. Just didn't like using him.
I believe you underestimate my sneakiness.

I always won more than I lost, but over the last 2 months, I've been on a tear. I've won more LE's since Indy came out than I did in all the time I played before.

Heh, I wish I had as much time to play the new rules as I did the old, then I could actually gauge my performance better. I'd say half the stuff I get to play in right now is sealed(not that I mind the sealed stuff), which is largely dependent on the figs you pull.

I think I am doing better overall, but I need to play more to figure it out.

I think in our venue it hurt the less tactical players more than say those players who are more reactive. Most at our Venue in the past could put Firelord and Wasp together and have a good chance at the W. Back in the day you could put together a team, go up aginst FL Wasp and still have a fighting chance. But now its a whole different story. Most of those who win now (when it's not thugit) don't play their favorite characters, they just put BS Hooker bombs together and tear through legit teams.(Do I sound jaded?) It's just a shame that they fix one rule snag and people take advantage of a old rip. I just want everyone at my Venue to know ANYONE CAN SCORE WITH HOOKERS. YOU JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE SHAME OF HAVING TO RESORT TO THAT KIND OF FILTH!

Yeah, but how often does that happen?
