HSS and throwing objects question
Can a character use Hypersonic speed and throw and object?

Ex: Black Adam Starts his movement and picks up an object 3 spaces away. He continues his movement and throws the object at movement 5. Then he continues to run back the 5 spaces that he was originally standing.

no, you can't.

HSS grants a close or ranged combat attack.

Throwing an object is a ranged combat action (per rulebook page 18 I believe)

I would make sense that you can... since you can use S.Strength with HSSpeed in close combat (this we know) but not many people would want to toss the object.

I think it should... but I'm too lazy to see if S.Strength currently calls throwing an item as an action (not attack)

Doesn't the eagle need both to fly?

I've answered this question 2 or 3 times now. The rulebook states that throwing an object requires a ranged combat action. It's not on the PAC under superstrength - it's in the rulebook.

so NO you cannot.

To the best of my knowledge, the FAQ does not change this.

I just looked through the most recent one - it makes it clear that HSS does NOT grant a close/ranged combat action (or power action) - just a ranged/close attack. As far as I know, the rulebook has not changed throwing objects to anything other than a ranged combat ACTION.

Boy do I feel bad now.

I figured if KC Superman can make a ranged attack with HSS then throwing an object would be the same thing.

It comes down to that attack/action difference.

Well, it probably won me the Hal Jordan this weekend.
I don't feel to bad because my opponent did the same move to me.

I did it this weekend also and 2 different judges said that that move is normal and definitly legal. In fact one judge says he uses that move all the time. If you can pick up an object with HSS and hit with it then you should be able to get in range and then throw it and move out of range. What sense is it that you can grab an object continue on and smack with it but can't throw it. Either way you are using it.

It may not make any sense, but it is still an illegal move. From the PAC --
Quote
HYPERSONIC SPEED (optional): Choose one of the following: (1) When you give this character a move action, it automatically breaks away and may move through squares adjacent to opposing characters. This character receives one free action during its movement that it may use to make a close combat or ranged combat attack. It can continue to use the rest of its movement after making the attack.
and from the Rules --
Quote
RANGED COMBAT
A character with Super Strength can throw an object at an opposing character, as shown in Figure 19. To throw an object, give the character a ranged combat action, even if its range value is 0. A light object can be thrown 6 squares, and the target of a successful attack is dealt 2 damage. A heavy object can be thrown 4 squares, and the target of a successful attack is dealt 3 damage.
You can only make a ranged combat ATTACK when using HSS, and it takes a ranged combat ACTION to throw an object.
In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
