How to use Ultimate Vet. Spidey?
I think he'll be my MVP. I used him in the pre-release tourney and found a lot of use for him. I can't wait to substitute him into my starting line up. Has anyone thought about who to pair him up with yet?

I'd think a Batman Ally would go without saying. <Imagines the wildcard abuse possibilities>
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.

Adding in a Bat Ally makes him fit quite nicely with the Batman family. The Leap Climb and later Incap not to mention Willpower will just make him seem at home there. Personally I plan to use him mainly as a flanking harassment peice that later goes on to destroy support peices like medics and such.

He isn't a main line heavy (and Spider-Man isn't let alone Ultimate version) but he sure is great support from what I'm seeing. Best Spider-Man so far and it's taken wayyy too many remakes to get him this good.

Best Spidey?? I Must Disagree.
IMHO, the best Spidey is from CM. True, he cost more, but at least he is still a threat at the end of his dial, unlike his Ultimates counterpart.

LE Peter Parker and E Batman are going to be best of friends.

they both run up, then next go, bats outwits the defense ability and spidey perplexes up his attack (or damage if low def) and then bats inc them. or vice versa.

Drools....

I second that. Although in the point/value ratio I see Universe Spider-Man way up there, too!

Yeah, I pulled one during the pre-release too...I couldn't help but think that with Batman Ally, he is remarkably like E Batman, with the L/C and the willpower. The LE Peter Parker will be more like Bats, with incap and perplex for 3 damage.

I had him paired up with a V Hawkeye in the prerelease, but there wasn't really any stealth to see through. He can do some damage with a HO, but I often found that he was restricted to 2 damage, which was kind of limiting.

Nobody could hit his 17 DV though...

I like the new Universe Starters Only Spider-Men very strong and he will certainly see game play alot. At 40 points he gets to dodge Super strenght and leap climb and his wild cat ability. He actualy got good and playable.

I really like the Ultimates Vet Spidey. Extremely effective wild card for his points. I do like the Vet CM Spider-Man a lot but think that the Ultimates Spidey fits in 200-300 point teams a little better. Here is the "open" 300 point team I plan on using him in:

Vet Ult Spider-Man 58 pts.
Exp Black Cat 32 pts.
Vet Nightwing 72 pts.
Vet Johnny Alpha 64 pts.
LE Boon 58 pts.
LE Jane Foster 16 pts.
Total 300 pts.

Both Spidey and the Black Cat have "perma stealth", raise their attack by 1, and force you to take a click of damage when you do hit them. Nightwing does the outwit/stealth sniper thing. Boon gets tk'd by Alpha and slices into people. Outwit, PC, Support, TK, 3 figs with Super Senses, and a little willpower. It should do well.

Well I guess the thing with spidey is that he is just like in the comics. He cant really function as a secondary attacker, but he is more of an harrasser or just a piece to pick up the job. I tend to think of the CM one as a harrasser/support figure while the Ultimates one is just like the comics, a piece to bug and tease your opponents biggies. They should make it compulsory for some trash talking when using ol' webhead!
I tried to sell my soul to the Devil last weekend, but [email protected] was outbid by Hans from Germany.

Not only does my soul now belong to a pub-keeper,
but I only made 18 cents on the deal.

Spidey will work well with a cheap Batman ally - not so much Alfred pog as Exp or Vet Robin - and with an ultimate. But as has been said, he's a harasser, someone to go after medics and 1-click outwitters...

just use a R Robin, and well I'd use Zatanna Zatarra aka cheap mystics, throw a destiny into the mix, perhaps throw on V Venom to give yourself another beat stick w/leap climb and perplex, V Green Arrow to sit back and shoot some people, R Bullseye, and E Paramedic

So....

R Robin 17
V Ult Spidey 58
V Venom 84
R Destiny 20
LE Zatanna Zatarra 35
V Green Arrow 50
R Bullseye 26
E Paramedic 10

= 300pts

spidey would have stealth, free movement, mystics
